View Full Version : 1/16th rolls with/without sock mod

well, i had gotten most the way done with the solo tour on an EL kit, where rolls are generally easier to perform but have more dropped notes, and now that im on a QM set, i need some information.

i did some testing with the train kept a rollin drum roll section, both on a modded and unmodded qm.

unmodded: 52%, 53%, 55%, 49%
modded (sock mod): 93%, 98%, 97%, 94%

obviously with the sock mod the rolls are almost perfect, however theres one major major issue: extra hits. through the entire roll the combo was breaking frequently from extra hits. so even though i was hitting everything, i was also hitting too much. i was hearing all sorts of "clicks" that the game makes when you overhit on drums.

sure enough i went into the song and tried it for real, and i almost failed the roll. too many overhits.

so my question is this, is the problem me, or the sock mod? am i hitting too light/soft/fast/slow? or is the sock mod just a minor fix at best?

i know most people report great success on the sock mod but id like to think that i wasnt rolling mega fast.

I say it is the sock mod. If it was not doing extra hits before then it is that. Let's face it my friend, everything is a minor fix until we can get a company that can get us a set that responds correctly atleast 99% of the time. I am hoping Mad Catz will deliver! Good luck to you:)
