Hey just curious if any of the older crowd (myself included 37) thinks that Black Tide sounds alot like RIOT from back in the 80's. I'll be giving that one a shot for sure.

Black Tide actually originates from where I'm from, and I saw them perform in their first battle of the bands when they were called Radio, and their lead singer was only 12. My buddy is very close friends with the bassist. Crazy to see them get to where they are.

I don't know if anybody has mentioned this yet, but all three of these bands/singer are playing the Rock Band stage at La Zona Rosa for SXSW this week here in Austin. I hope to be able to catch the Serj show on Thursday, which also features Black Tide. I personally think this is a really cool promotion for those bands.

well, there's the answer for why this DLC pack was put out. You should post this over on some of those flame boards about it. Maybe shut a few of them up. Glad to see this kind of promotion because it only helps strengthen relations between certain bands and the game which only leads to further opportunities for DLC. nicely done, harmonix.

Looks like I'll take a pass this week, but I'm glad that some people like it. Its certainly good to have a variety to choose from and new bands are always good.
May eventually pick up Paramore just because its nice to have some more female vocals and my wife might like that, but none of the tracks really appeal to me all that much personally.
As for being too easy, well, I think they definitely should have a wide range of difficulties in their dlc. If they only put out really difficult songs, they would likely lose a lot of their dlc audience since not everyone is able to master every song on expert from the get go.
At any rate, thanks to the OP for posting the vids/clip. I'd never heard of any of these bands before, so it was nice to hear them and find out if they were worth a shot.

Wow...a Riot reference...very cool! Fire Down Under is one of the all-time under-rated heavy metal albums ever. You're right, the guy's voice does sound a lot like Guy Speranza. But overall not so much (to me anyway). The riffing and soloing lacks the melody speed and cleverness that Riot and most of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal bands had. Maybe I'm just gettin' old but nothin' about Black Tide of virtually any of the latest generation of heavy bands does much for me. SOAD is about the only one that I like much. Wolfmother is ok but completely derivative. And all the nu-metal bands are boring, boring, boring to me. Like I said...maybe just gettin' old.

thank you for NOT making the piano at the end of Serj a part of the guitar!
NIN March of the Pigs is rediculously stupid because youre playing piano on the guitar.. yeah, that makes sense. NIN is the worst DLC ever.

Playing a piano part would have been the only slightly redeemable thing about it.
People who complain about playing piano on their plastic button toy guitar are..amusing.

Great, the only song I was planning for download isn't even available.
3/11 = worst week ever. Even the trash pack would be better than this.

I`m pretty happy about this. Actually I`m pretty psyched about the Serj song. It`s not System of a Down but it`s close enough for now. The Paramore track is also pretty good. I don`t know the 3rd song but for the discounted rate I`ll pick it up.

I'm mostly pumped about the fact that they're only .99 each, since I buy them every week.
Don't know how long I can continue doing that though.

I think the lead singers voice reminds me a lot of Sebastian Bach from Skid Row :)
Personally I like this week's DLC. Quite a variety of types of music, I've downloaded Paramore and Serj(I love SOAD and this is pretty similar), just waiting for Black Tide.
BTW, Paramore is quite bland on drums, but still fun. Go figure :)

Although I had heard of Paramore and Serj, I hadn't heard those songs, so I listened to them and was not particularly impressed.
Black Tide, however, was not half bad. I love old school metal, and they more or less fit the bill. I might actually have to pick that song up.

Peeps should check out some of Black Tides other clips on there myspace page. Not bad at all. Figures the only song I was interested in for the last 4 weeks and it isn't even up for download yet.

Surprisingly, Shockwave actually sounded rather bland on drums too. Don't know if it was just a matter of not being able to hear them over the guitars or not (and I don't have the best musical ear around by any stretch of the imagination) but it just seemed fairly simple and repetitive with the occasional drum fill thrown in.

I'm pretty sure this has almost all of the DLC with previews (most of them previewing the actual gameplay of the DLCs.)

I just re-listened to shockwave and I think you're right..for the most part (i think it's primarily a guitarist song) BUT from 1:54 until 2:13 might make it a little tricky to FC. Will have to see how HMX did the chart :)

FWIW Shockwave is an absolute blast to play on Guitar, Bass and Drums :)
Love it.
