An original question for once!

We all know that every player will be represented by an avatar. My question is simply this: Is there a computer-controlled character who stands on stage with you and plays keyboard? Or does it just come from no where?

It's an interesting point. Judging by the idea of 'Rock Band' I'd take a guess that every other instrument part that you don't play should be assumed as a backing track. That way it is just you and 'the guys' doing 'your songs'.

From videos I've seen I don't remember any more than four band members.

That is a good question, I assume there will be, especially in the single player, it will be like in Guitar Hero, there will probably be a standard character for each instrument that you aren't playing.

It could be piped in from "the sound guy" like at most concerts.

That would be tight if during those pieces, the camera panned around into the crowd and zoomed in on him raising the levels and giving the cam a thumbs up.

well the synth sounds will come from no where like at real concerts. For intasnce, when the Who perform Baba O'Riley and Won't Get Fooled Again the keyboard/synth parts are played on a backing track since Pete Townsend can't play 2 instruments at once.

Actually, Guitar Hero had absent instrument players all the time. Rhythm Guitar was the most common absence, eg. Gemini or Jessica. Plus, the keyboard player was only there if there wasn't a lead singer. So Lead singer + Keyboard parts = mystery keyboard sounds coming from the nether.

I bet it'll be the same with Rock Band, just not worth taking to time to represent every instrument.

IGN has an insider video showing off Won't Get Fooled Again, and there's no keyboardist in sight. Kind of a shame, the chubby keyboardist from GH was awesome, so slipping him in somewhere would make me smile.

I hope that beer-bellied key pressing loser comes back. Watching him during "Frankenstien" in GH1 was my favorite thing about that game. Him makes me laugh.
