View Full Version : 3/18 DLC Speculation?!?!?

So, we all had a nice little roller coaster ride this past week, and now it is only a couple days til the next announcement.
The week was made interesting with the inclusion of the SXSW (sp) pack, which proves that the good folks at Harmonix can strewn together some music in a condensed amount of time (thinking maybe a month to put at least two or three of those tracks together).
There was also the discovery by the folks at Scorehero of a fourth track..."Misery Business"...so, basically, this next announcement could be anything.
I personally believe it will be something from the previously cracked list of songs...I think it will be a 6 pack of good ole rock sauce:
"The Thrash Pack"
&
Bad Company- "Shooting Star"
The Police- "Message in a Bottle"
Lynyrd Skynyrd- "Simple Man"
Now on to your thoughts...ready...set...go...

I hope the Trash pack isn't released by itself since that would piss alot of people off. And now there probably isn't a point in speculating since this week's DLC was WAY out of left field.

Excuse me?
Also, I know not everyone here may have had it, but Message in a Bottle was already in GH2. Wouldn't you rather see new songs than something you might have paid for already?

I pray, also, that it is "Who's Next", but I fear that the corporate heads (not the developers) might be saving that one as a weapon against one of the Guitar Hero expansions coming this spring/summer.
I think they threw the curve ball this week, and that next week they are gonna follow through with a tried and true fastball of previously announced songs.

yes. but it would also have bass, drums, and singing, which would be awesome. All we need is to have a feature that forces our bands to argue amongst each other, in order to pass the song

Fact.
I would love to have, Sweet Child 'O Mine, Hangar 18, Freebird, Jessica, Crazy on You, Carry on Wayward Son, Less Talk More Rokk, The Trooper, Killing in the Name, Madhouse, Trippin' on a Hole in a Paper Heart, Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo.
Even when I bought the game twice over.

I agree. It's not paying for it twice, either. You bought the guitar (and bass if you really count co'op) tracks, not the entire band track with GH2. I would definitely love to see more GH2 songs.

Who cares about next weeks DLC  I mean, after this weeks, it could be anything. I am just going to wait until Friday's announcement, then I'll give an opinion.
However, I would love to see songs from the GH series make it to RockBand. Harmonix should buy the series back and take control over it again. We at least wouldn't get GH: Aerosmith (a rumored RockBand copycat) :p With all the money Harmonix is making off of DLC, it could happen :)

Did any of the GH's have Mother by Danzig? It has both a cool guitar solo as well as drums.
I never played any of the GH's so I dont know what they may or may not have had.
I want more 80's hairbands as well. Since I am in my 30s and most of my friends are as well, we want to play songs we know and that was our decade :)
Def Lep, more Bon Jovi, G&R, etc. Pearl Jam would be good as well (especially Ten)

rockband is not guitar hero... you can sing and play drums in rockband. not everyone plays rockband for the guitar. the police songs are probbly the best songs in the game to sing, so keep the police coming please.

To all who hope the Thrash pack isn't alone when it comes out...
If it is released by itself, let's hope the songs are 80 credits each...
Seriously, though, those are 80 credit songs. They're good, and I'll get the whole pack, but they're not the kind of songs that everyone knows and would pay more than a buck for, you know?

Actually that's the only rumored released that I've been waiting for and I'm a little disappointed it wasn't released yet. I'm not a fan of any of the bands in the pack, but with the lack of metal songs that exist outside the radio world is pretty slim if you remove the old school Metallica pack. I'd much rather play the At The Gates song than wannabe 80's Metalers Blakc Tide or Serj.

I am dying to get my hands on the Rolling Stones songs that were speculated about through the cracked file. "Honky Tonk Woman" would be amazing, although I don't remember if that was one of the songs mentioned. Man, just thinking about it has started the song playing in my head...

Unless you know something we don't, I'm pretty sure that HMX said the first album for Rock Band would be The Who's Who's Next.

For the time being I'll concede that point. I may respond when I'm more awake ;) :p
In all honesty, if the DLC was a Black Tide album, at least it would be cheaper than expected seeing as how this week's DLC was at $0.99.

Rock Band has very original songs, there not all mainstream songs you've heard before. I like finding out music i've never heard before, which happens alot with Rock Band, i love it!

Its the Thrash pack, 99% definite. I checked out the band's record label Earache... http://www.earache.com/
Scroll down a bit and look at the advertisement. They announce Evile's song for download on March 18th.
Love it or hate it, it will finally be released and WE CAN ALL MOVE ON.
Still, its possible like someone else said that they'd release a few more songs with it. At any rate, I just beat GG&HT on expert last week and every other song I have - I'm up for some new challenges!:D

While the title of this thread is quite misleading, I agree with others that two-packs would be great. That said, I don't expect it to happen. I expect to get the thrash pack. I also expect to continue playing my Dead tracks for another week, still stuck at 98 songs. I'm ok with all of this, as I wait for the leaked stuff I want, specifically Nevermind, and hope that a curveball is thrown my way at some point.

I'm sorry, but I'm not the biggest fan of Slayer or Pantera, but to call their music garbage is ignorant.
Oh, and just to clarify, louder and harder to understand screaming and pig squealing does not equal metal. It equals "hard to listen to without my ears bleeding" crap.

Personally, I doubt that they will release both a Thrash Pack and another pack. Frankly, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense for them to do so. They want to keep releasing dlc every week, and breaking those packs up into two weeks makes it that much easier to do so. If they for some reason run into a problem down the road with a pack, then they've bought themselves sometime if they have an extra pack ready. I think the GD pack was a little different because a) rumors are they are planning 18 dead tracks, and its much easier to do those in 3 packs than 6 and b) they were using it as a test for pricing of an album pack.
As for full albums, my prediction is that the first album released will be Nevermind. I've heard rumors that suggest that Who's Next won't be released for a while and that the hold up has nothing to do with HMX.
Black Tide album? Seriously? That would not make any sense at all. For starters, they don't have near a big enough following (or history) to justify a full album release.
At any rate, I have seen a leak as to the 4/1/08 DLC:
Tribute
Still Alive
Smells Like Nirvanna
Edit: Corrected Song title
Sully
03-12-2008, 10:02 AM
Speculation is completely pointless now that HMX has shown that they have stuff ready to go that wasn't on the leaked list. Had this week contained more songs on that list, then I'd assume we'd see the rest of the list before seeing anything unexpected. You can pretty much pick any three songs that you can think of and they have as reasonable of a chance to be the DLC as any three other songs.
So, in that case, I'm VERY OPTIMISTICALLY (and completely unrealistically) thinking:
Dinosaur Jr. Pack-
Almost Ready
Feel The Pain
We're Not Alone (http://downloads.pitchforkmedia.com/Dinosaur%20Jr%20-%20Were%20Not%20Alone.mp3) (track 8 on Beyond, absolutely ZERO chance to ever be DLC but an amazing song)
At any rate, I have seen a leak as to the 4/1/08 DLC:
Tribute
Still Alive
Smells Like Teen Spirit
They wouldn't release Smells Like Teen Spirit without releasing the album. But Tribute would make my day. No, my year.

I will honestly say that I was not a huge fan of this weeks DLC and after the delay friday and all day monday we thought something big was coming. this weeks DLC was like waking up Christmas morning and finding out the Grinch stole all your gifts. I still got it as it is 3 more songs to play!!!! I have heard them before and thought well maybe it is not for me. However once you play them in rockband they seemed much better and as with all DLC it has opened my mind to more types of music. Lets hope the announcement tomorrow is killer!!!

Yeah, so this thread has been full of some great suggestions but it's really all just unfounded speculation. And then it kind of morphed into a "what I'd really like to see as DLC" type of thread and that's more of an Ultimate Set List type of deal. Feel free to discuss songs and bands that have actually come out or have officially been announced (or keep wish lists in the USL forum). Thanks!
