I was reading this post at Evil Avatar (http://www.gametab.com/news/1017118/) which quoted and linked a glowing preview of Killzone 2. But reading it the game still feels like the original which bugs me.
With Halo 3 and a 360 price drop all just around the bend can Killzone 2 sell PS3s?
Note: No system wars please.
Edit: The argument that breaks out between Johan and 51 is priceless. Namely because it's an argument between two ässholes and both are just wrong. So yeah.

I've never played Killzone 1 to start with , Killzone 2 does kinda look promising well the Graphics you can tell are Great but graphics aren't everything , Gameplay i like how they are using the Dodge and Shoot Tactic , until now I've seen 2 gameplays the one from E3 and yeah i think it might Be Hit.

Well, Killzone 1 was supposed to be a "halo beater" and it was another pointless studio. Again, its graphics over gameplay. Take the Halo 3 Beta - its graphics were almost identical to Halo 2, but the gameplay was there, thats what mattered. Thats why Doom online on XBLA is fun. But Killzone 2... its gonna be a failure.

Short answer: No. Its gonna take more than Killzone 2 to sell PS3's

Nope. Final Fantasy, though getting a bit tired formula wise, is still a great game, and I loved FF 12 and was jealous I traded in my PS2. The same went when I had to wait AGES for GH2 to come to 360.
I think the PS3 is a great machine, and shows how much stuff you can ram into a black beast of a games console. But, for MY PARTICULAR TASTES it doesnt suit me. But those who love Gran Turismo, Tekken and FF should remain happy you decided to get a PS3

Final Fantasy, especially VII, is so overrated. And this coming from the biggest Kingdom Hearts nut you'll ever meet.

I don't think any FPS is going to sell PS3s. I still don't understand people's attraction to the Halo franchise, though. I'll admit I'm not an FPS player, but they always seem so much better on PC than on console - is it cost effectiveness that make people like console FPS games, or the multiplayer on one machine thing?
I certainly can't speak for everyone, but having not bought a next-gen system yet, the reason I'm leaning toward getting a PS3 over an xBox is because I don't like FPS games. I prefer action games and RPGs (God of War, Devil May Cry, FF, Kingdom Hearts). And Playstation has always had more of those types of games than any other system. I think for the original xBox, the game Ninja Gaiden was the only game I ever wanted to play that didn't either come out for PC or cross-platform. And now that game's on PS3 so....
Oh, and yeah - FF7 is a bit overrated, but I think it became as big as it did because it was the first RPG to appeal to a new generation of gamers. Not everyone gaming at that time had a Super Nintendo, and even fewer of those had played earlier FF games. I'm hoping one of the 57 FF13s to come out shows some real innovation in RPG gaming...

Guerilla Games Interview LINK (http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2007/08/25/guerilla-games-interrogated-on-all-things-killzone-2/)
".. They refuse to compare their game to Halo 3 because the two games are just that -- two games. They're different in play style and artistic direction. They feel it's more important to improve on what was lackluster in the first Killzone than try to "beat" some other game.."

When Sony touts the original as a "Halo killer" and flops, releases that E3 trailer and touts it as the PS3 benchmark and flops, and then release Killzone 2 right around Halo 3...yeah, whatcha expect?
Even Sony saw that coming.

No it will not sell it. My store didn't even get more than 4 reserves for it. People just don't care about the ps3. We sell about 3 360's to every PS3. Its really terrible :(

Even if you're a playstation fan, why buy a PS3 when the PS2 is still getting such great support? I mean, GH3 and now RB have both said they'll have a PS2 version, and there's still plenty of other new games coming out for PS2. (I saw somewhere that PS2s outsold xBox 360 the year that it was released.) I only buy so many games a year, so it hasn't been worth it to get a $600 (now $500) system when I could still get so much use out of my PS2.

Killzone's BIG BIG Levels LINK (http://n4g.com/ps3/News-62854.aspx)
More Killzone 2 snippets fresh from Deutschland, home of the Leipzig Games Convention.
Firstly, each level will make up a whopping 2 gigabytes. That's about half a DVDs worth of storage...which is alot. Obviously, this is why it's on Blu-ray, but it may account for the current slow down at checkpoints and the like.
Also, due to the sheer detail and effects crammed down the Cell and RSXs proverbial throat, the game will run 30 fps, and will ?only? be at 720p. The detail is so high in fact, that the amount of polygons used in one soldiers face is roughly the amount used in one entire Killzone 1 level. As long as it doesn't cause any issues like the ones seen Madden '08, it should be fine.
Press have been allowed to play small bits of the demo level shown at E3, the one which was ?hilariously? ?forgotten about? by Kaz ?Riiiiidge Racer!? Hirai, Jack ?I?ll give you $1200 if you find a PS3? Tretton, and Phil ?We?re not arrogant? Harrison.
General reception of the game so far has been good, with people impressed by the graphical features and effects.

I hate to see a console brand be destroyed, but Sony really do take the biscuit for plain stupidness. The Killzone marketing was terrible, the E3 06 video which we all found out to be a lie, the destroying of Sega as a console producer (I was entering a transition stage between PS1 and Dreamcast, but when I saw console was basically being terminated I ended going for the devil's toaster i.e. PS2). But, the PS3 is just a machine which as a media powerhouse is great - but its lacking basic Media Centre Support (a great tool I think) and its poor online showing, as well as lack of AAA games until way into 08 meant that I ended up getting a Wii to compliment my 360.

It's seriously not like Killzone 2 can hurt this system, it can only help. It's just a matter to what degree, you guys can debate all you want, but I couldn't be happier with this purchase...with my hd-tv the blu-ray player (big movie guy) and looking into buying some speakers for RB, and granted not the biggest library of games but it's not like it's piss-poor, I'm thrilled to have a PS3. I played the 2 close friends' 360 before I purchased a next-gen system and I disliked the 360. Not to mention they had both had to return at least once (1 friend once and one 3 times) totally soured me on the system.
But in the end I'M happy and thats all that really matters, doesn't it? The console should be what you want and not what other people tell you is better.

With the 3 year ROD warranty, (and my 25 days flew by cos I dug some old PC greats), my 360 was back to normal and back to hours of GH. It wasn't the console's fault - it was mine for moving it EVERYWHERE. Upstairs, going round m8s house - why not bring 360, school faire - why not? etc.
I just don't understand how you can just dislike the 360. I don't dislike the PS3, I just don't think its suited to my taste
And if you're into movies, then yep, PS3 is the way to go for you (although I still think the format war will become pointless because physical movies won't exist by the time the format war starts getting big), but ultimately if you're a TRUE GAMER, not a softcore gamer, then 360 is the way to go. But PS3 and the Wii both have a small collection of exclusive, decent games which tenders for the hardcore gamer, albeit tiny.

Nobel Peace Prize is for someone who's invented something great. Nothing to do with peace.
The reason why it's called "Nobel Peace" was because the guy who came up with it invented TNT - he originally only saw it as a mining tool, but after invention he realised it could become a weapon, and as a devout pacifist, he decided to produce this award.
A bit of mindless trivia for ya;)

Why does everyone ignore the fact that X360 came i think a year or longer before Ps3 and Wii were release so of course they don't have as many games.

Look down the list of games to be released. The 360 has a stronger base not only in the past but also the future.
360 is the gamer's console, the PS3 is the movie fan/tech-o-manic and the Wii is for the family. I don't play the Wii much, but my mum likes to play a game of Wii Sports anytime, which is always a nice change to "DIE BIG DADDY DIE I REALLY WHICH I HARVESTED THOSE LITTLE SISTERS"

I didn't even realize Killzone was such a big deal on the ps2, in the first place? How this became a potential killuh app is kinda beyond me really.
It does look nice though.
But to answer your question, it's not going to get me to buy a ps3. I will buy one eventually, but it'll most likely be for the rpg exclusives or something out of left field. I can find more than enough FPS' elsewhere, to quench my thirst if I'm in the mood.

if you're a TRUE GAMER, not a softcore gamer, then 360 is the way to go.
I have to disagree with you on this. I definitely consider myself a "true gamer" but the xBox offers almost nothing exclusive in the genres I play (Action, Action-RPG, traditional RPG). XBox is more geared toward FPS & sports games. Playsation and Nintendo have a lot more to offer in the genres I play. I also don't really play any multiplayer games online, so xBox live has nothing to offer me, either.
The 3 next-gen systems are all geared toward different kinds of gamers. I think PS3 needs to appeal more to a different audience and not try to make games that specifically compete with popular xBox titles to really stand out.
