Is singing the bad words okay if it's in small amounts?
From ESRB:
"TEEN
Titles rated T (Teen) have content that may be suitable for ages 13 and older. Titles in this category may contain violence, suggestive themes, crude humor, minimal blood, simulated gambling, and/or infrequent use of strong language."
http://www.esrb.org/ratings/ratings_guide.jsp
Does this mean they could keep it teen by keeping the bad words in? I mean, it does say strong language.

They could do it like in the radio, where ass, damn, or ***** are still allowed... just a though.

Have you ever herd of George Carlin's 7 words you can't say on TV bit? I'm gonna say anything but those words are fair game. If you look at GH2, suggestive lyrics were usually left alone, like in Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You, Tonight, but Some words and references to drugs or alcohol were taken out of certain songs.

Instead of taking out the vocals part for the cursing section they should put a freestyle part where the cursing would be. That way you don't have to say it but you can.

One of the earlier interviews mentioned that the phoneme detection wouldn't be on at the same time as pitch detection (anyone want to help me with this one?) so replacements aren't a problem.
Yes, Carlin's 7 words are fair game, but will bump up the rating.
I expect they will leave sexually suggestive lyrics in, but remove anything sexually explicit and drug and alcohol references.
Examples (bold for clarity):
"You're too young and I'm too well hung..." : Acceptable!
"I want to F*** you like an animal" : UNACCEPTABLE
"Let me get to the point; let's roll another joint" : Rating must include "Drug use", may not be T
"And them good old boys were drinkin? whiskey and rye" : Rating must include "Alcohol use", may not be T
Just the way the ESRB works, rate to the harshest things.

I'm not going to act like I know the specific criteria the ESRB uses, but when I read "infrequent use of strong language" I thought of the MPAA ratings where once a movie uses more then 2 F-bombs (might have the number wrong) it's an automatic R rating. Maybe theres a specific threshold the ESRB adheres to as well.

I like that idea.

I could be wrong since I'm not in the states, but I think it's actually Mild Language? Which is different to Strong or Explicit

Well you see some games rated T when going online display a warning message saying "Gameplay and experience may change online" and besides whos going to be cursing during songs ? it's alright if you do it if its part of the song but its censored.

In creep where it says "You're so ****ing special" the word is just missing...i watched it played about 5 times at PAX yesterday...if you know the real lyrics you can just sing it anyway...nothing stopping you...

But does it ruin your multiplier?

But does it ruin your multiplier?
Probably. They could use that as an excuse to the ESRB saying "well if they do say the bad words, theres a penalty"

Yeah really. That's kind of dissapointing, seeing as they probably are going to mess up more master tracks with the language editing.

Why would they need an excuse to the ESRB? It's only rated on the game content. If you swear, that's your business. It only matters to the ESRB if it has either the text or voice of the curse. If it's online, well guess what, "game experience may change during online play".
