Why do we need an album? Why can't Harmonix put together like a "Rock Band Edition Best of The Who" or something like that? Where it could have like 15 or so of a particular band's songs, taken from all across their career. It could even be based on player suggestions.

The only reason I say anything is because I get the feeling that because they are releasing an entire Who album for dlc, that Harmonix will consider that to be enough dlc from The Who, and not release any other songs from them, which would be really disappointing because they have a lot of good stuff all throughout their career.

And this goes for all of the albums that will be coming out in the future. I mean, it is really cool that we're getting albums, and I'll take that over nothing, but throwing ideas out there never hurt. And I really want to play My Generation on Rock Band, and if what I fear is true, then that will never happen. Which is depressing

Well, if you look at the song list found in the DLC files, you'll see that Pinball Wizard from the Tommy album is included, so they obviously aren't opposed to putting out at least one extra song by a band getting an album. My Generation might be tough, though, because I imagine a usable master might be impossible to come by. I'd guess that we'd be more likely to get Who songs from later in their career since there is a better chance of having usable master tracks.

Pinball Wizard is going to be in it? Holy crap, I did not know that. Well that changes everything. I'm still going hold out hope for My Generation though. And Who Are You. And The Kids Are Alright. And A Quick One, While He's Away.

I've got high hopes, forgive me.

I could see them covering select early Who songs like The Kids are Alright and My Generation if necessary, but I really doubt they would go much deeper than that since it seems to be all about the masters, if possible. I'd be much more likely to believe that we'd get Who Are You (censored, of course) than the earlier stuff.

Stomp all over my dreams why don't you?

lol, I'm joking. But would it really be that hard to get a master track for My Generation? They have Gimme Shelter from the 60's on there.

Very negitive. lol If they dont give us Whos next they better give us a Who 6 pack . AT LEAST 6. But we where promised Whos Next When the very first Rock band Songs where announced. so I dont think they will go back on a promise like that. They havent really lied to us but its just been taking so long for them to keep their promises. I mean we just got the Greatful dead

I think not giving us the album would be a mistake. Look how far in the lead as far as Rythm games go. Having a fully playable album will make them untuchable. Look GH is already trying to counter with areosmith but we know THE WHO > Aerosmith

Oh, I'm not worried that they'll reneg on the Who's Next album, I know we're eventually getting that. I'm just worried that they won't give us anymore Who songs because they're giving us an entire album of Who songs.

I would prefer a 10-15 Song Pack of 'Best Of' rather than an Album. Seriously, how many albums do you own that have more than 5 songs that you love? Probably not too many.

Exactly. A Best of The Who could have a much better collection of songs. That being said, Who's Next is already pretty good. But I don't know why they put Won't Get Fooled Again on the game if they were planning to put the album that has that song for dlc already.

I wish they'd go ahead and release one of these albums, so I can see how it would work.

You have a good point. And that's exactly what they're doing with the Grateful Dead - basically an 18 song "Best Of" collection of HMX's choosing released in packs of 6 each. However, I think the two albums announced so far - Who's Next and Nevermind - are pretty different from your ordinary album. They're both iconic albums where just about all of the songs are considered great (if you're a fan of the respective band, at least). I imagine they'll continue in only releasing iconic albums rather than just your random album here or there. The three-song band packs idea (like Queens of the Stone Age, Oasis, Black Sabbath, Bowie, etc.) seems to be how they're doing the "Best Of" on a smaller scale so far, where the band's full albums may not have been strong enough for Harmonix to bother with.

Wait...D...Did you say 18? Oh, I hope it's a few good weeks before the next 6.

Probably. I just hope they know what their doing.

Quick question...

How do you go about looking at the DLC files of what songs are supposedly going to be released? I didnt know this was possible. Is it on the 360 or some website?

Thanks

Just 'leaked' lists on the interweb or on magazines. But they are most likely to be false (mainly in terms of release date.).
