So I screamed like a little girl at a Backstreet Boys concert when I saw The Hand That Feeds on the songlist! I am a diehard NIN fan and this made my entire year, cuz not only do I love that song, I know it by heart and that means I can play bass and sing it at the same time (only gotta get like a mic stand or something)...

I'm with you, I was so pumped when I heard we'd get a NIN song. Now to convince Harmonix to make "The Downward Spiral" a downloadable album.

there's no way you're a diehard NIN fan and are actually glad they picked it for RB.

I'm a diehard NIN fan and although I would have preferred a lot of other songs over Hand That Feeds I'm still really excited that they are in the game. It's a simple, easy song and probably on of their most mainstream but hey, it's better than nothing.

Nah, they need to make the live album "And All That Could Have Been" into a downloadable album. That'd be sweet, songs from PHM through to The Fragile.

Yes, yes, yes. I bought that on BluRay a while back. What a fantastic concert, I wish I could have gone.
I like "With Teeth", something different from there old stuff but still good.

If it's on blu-ray it would be the 'Beside You In Time' live DVD. And All That Could Have Been was filmed back in 2000 during the Fragility 2.0 summer tour and didnt have anything from With Teeth on it.

Oh sorry mixed up the live shows. I lent my copy out and thought that was the name of it.
The Fragile is an amazing CD as well though. Hell why don't they do both as DLC :)

because most songs probably wouldn't work that well as a full band.
have you listened to it lately?

Thats what's so great about their first live DVD. It's got the most songs with pretty constant things for all band members to be doing.

im glad theyve put in NIN, I am a massive fan, but was pretty disappointed (and totally unsurprised) when i saw it was hand that feeds. I was really hoping for march of the pigs, wish, or anything other than from awitha teethaaa

I partially agree with ya because I was shooting for the same two songs. But I loved With Teeth and I'm just happy to have my favorite band in the game. Hopefully, The Downward Spiral and/or Broken will be available as DLC.

Why would you say that? With Teeth sounds more like Pretty Hate Machine than any other NIN album, which, for all intents and purposes is their first album aside from the single "Down In It", that was placed before it as Halo 1. I'm pretty sure alot of die hard NIN fans started from this disc and not "The Downward Spiral" like 3/4s of the rest of the world.

Yea, I got excited mainly because this is one of the 4 songs that I actually have any desire to play whatsoever in this game.
I'd rather they put Wish on there tho. Either that or Heresy.

It's because we love music, and we get aggravated when a particular song gets chosen over better ones, simply because they are more mainstream or known. It's stupid but unfortunately that's how stuff works.

haha, as much as i would love Heresy to be in the game it would never make it. there would be countless lawsuits over the lyrics. although hmx would most likely win those lawsuits, it's not worth the trouble.

it pretty much is. all anybody has heard by Radiohead, Faith No More, and NIN is Creep, Epic, and THTF, when they all have much better material that never made it big on MTV. i know i have expressed my distaste for radiohead, but i wouldn't mind playing a song by them as long as it wasn't creep.

are you serious? as much as i love the song it would be even more boring to play than the hand that feeds. very small bass part, and no drums except for the chorus.

I already read this last week on wikipedia. Whatever, clearly someone at HMX frequents these forums and thought it would be funny to put NIN in the game.
It's the only explanation I can think of.
It's not only that I hate NIN, "The Hand That Feeds" is most certainly the reason why I hate them now. Prior to that album I was riding the fence on NIN. After just confirmed my earlier thoughts. Everyone knows that the song blows. It's like NIN's St. Anger for crying out loud.
And to whoever said that the only people that have heard of NIN are because of THTF, Not everyone on these forums are 13 years old. I've been listening to NIN since pretty hate machine. Trent Reznor formed NIN in Cleveland, where I grew up.
Yeah I actually used to like them.

The Hand that feeds is not a bad song, and its certainly not the first NIN nails song Ive heard.
Honestly with a band this obscure, alot of you should be happy they even put them in, since its not like they have like 3 full albums that are perfect for Rock Band...

So just because you don't like NIN's new stuff you automatically hate everything they've ever done?

Sorry I have to disagree... NIN - Closer = Radiohead - Creep
After Closer came out, it went from a small NIN hardcore fanbase to NIN stickers on every car at Lollapoaooza.

Precisely. I've been a fan since Pretty Hate Machine first came out. Bought every Halo (NIN disc) until The Fragile came out (then I stopped buying the singles). I think Year Zero and With Teeth are some of Trent's best work.

Yeah I think Closer is more like NINs Creep. But at least Closer is one of the better NIN songs. "Help me" gets me every time.
Honestly, I think THTF is a good song from a great band, but Creep is a medicore song from an incredible band. But that opinion differs from person to person. Some people might think Creep is Radioheads best song.
Id like to think of those people as people who have only heard Creep.

Look, people are gonna hate the songs they wanna hate. I dont think saying that people arent hardcore NIN fans because they like With Teeth and/or Year Zero ontop of all of NINs other fantastic works. If Trent Reznor stuck with the same exact sound for every album, we all would grow sick of it because it would just be the same thing over and over again. Sometimes you gotta make adjustments to the way your band sounds.....its kinda like sex, you gotta find different things to try or it just becomes bland and boring...
Yeah Year Zero is very political, but sound wise its different from all of this other stuff to where this album was much more on the techno side of the line.
I personally would have gotten tired of hearing songs about Trents personal pain and angst if he kept releasing albums about it. It would get to the point where like "Ok Trent, we get it, life sucks, and this world sucks..."
But again, not everyone is going to agree with me, and we are all entitled to our own thoughts and feelings.

"Right Where it Belongs" is arguably one of the best songs he has ever released.
IMHO anyways. That distorted piano is creepy and I love it.

I went to a Breaking Benjamin concert and they covered "Hurt" which was awesome. I do love the NIN. I thank Mr. Reznor for getting me through high school. That's probably the only artist with more than 3 albums where I actually own all the albums (at least 1 version, anyway). I even bought Year Zero.
Now, if you want to complain about a NIN album, that's the one to pick, I think. Definitely not my favorite.
Pretty Hate Machine is probably my favorite.

Well I guess I better put in my 2 cents while this topic is still warm. I consider myself a pretty big NIN fan (I managed to snag Rezfreak@hotmail.com years and years ago), my parents are hugely to blame for that as I was listening to PHM back in '89 or 90 when I was 6 years old. Pretty much grew up listening to them throughout my childhood and adolesence.
I dont know if its because I'm getting older and branching out on my own music, but I dont even own the last two albums of NIN - hell i downloaded with teeth for free and promptly deleted it off of my ipod. I just dont care for the new stuff, some of it is ok... some of it is utter gobshiet. In my opinion, yes Heresy would have been a good song to play, one of my favorites, although not too sure how fun it would be with RB, and a little too controversial in my opinion. I love the stuff on Broken, would love to see some of that as a DLC, but again, a lot of that album is too controversial as well (Happiness in Slavery anyone?).
To go off topic a little bit and throw in my 2 cents about trent... Trent, I think, is a musical genius, he does make a lot of very good and unique music, but the last couple of albums just havent hit it for me. Maybe its because he's got clean, maybe its because I'm growing older, I"m not sure. I just wish he would go back to the music of the PHM/Broken era. sigh. Atleast he's got his look cleaned up, oh my goodness would I tap that! :P
