Ok...so I have a problem....I good problem but a problem all the same. Should I get this for my 360 or my PS3?
I originally intended to get this for 360 but seeing as I've been having some serious problems with my xbox freezing and I'm not covered under the microsoft warranty (I broke the seal when cleaning my xbox) I fear the 3 rings of death are coming soon. I'm gonna pre order the bundle as soon as I make up my mind on which version to get.
I know I can count on my PS3 much more than my 360 but my concern is about the online play. Do you think enough people have PS3s and enough will get Rock Band so that it will have as strong a MULTIPLAYER community as there will be on Xbox Live?
Also will all the content downloadable through xbox live to download also be downloadable through PSN?

Choose whichever platform most of your buddies have. What's going to make this experience is playing online with your friends. There won't be any other substantive differences between the two.

That would be the 360. I guess I'll just buy one off ebay....thinking about this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=300145162616&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=020

If you're worried about the amount of people with PS3s, you would be surprised.
I work at a video store, and Im pretty amazed at the amount of PS3 games that are consistantly rented out, but hey, maybe it's only here.
Again, go with what your friends have and what game franchises you enjoy outside of Rock Band, 2 of my very good friends have PS3s, so I went with that (plus I love MGS and Ratchet and Clank).

Well I have both so I can get all the franchises :) I'm just worried that my 360 will blow up on me right before or after Rock Band comes out cus its the game I'm most looking forward to.

so i guess you can probaly find people on both, but the 360 might have more, i guess just go with your friends, that ebay auction doesnt look too cool to me
comes with no cables or anything,

OH, sorry, well in that case, it's a tough one......
I can't really say how bad your 360 is because Ive never seen or played it, so I can't really help you on this one....
If you go with 360 you'll probably have more people online
PS3 is your safe bet, a little less people online but you can play your old GH games for PS2 (if you own any)
So this one is almost entirely in your hands, again Im sorry for the misunderstanding.
Just go with what feels right :)

More people own 360s than PS3s, and the achievements(trophies) in HOME are said to be borked majorly for games coming out this fall/winter, so I'm getting this for my 360. I love my PS3, but if it's a cross-platform game, I'm getting it for the console that offers the better experience, and to me that's the 360 for RB. Plus I can use my current GH2 controller for Bass.

If you already had a 360 then IDC.
BUT if you I getting 1 for the first time........then get one.
My didn' have 3 red lights until I had the console for like 7,8,9 months.
And even then I had it in a NON-VENTILATED AREA!
I moved it to my lower shelf though so it should be ok.
PS i like the 1 on ebay

I'm getting mine for the PS3 but that's because it is the only system I own. If all your friends own a 360 go with that. Tough decesion for you because of the current status on your 360 though. I sure you'll be happy no matter what you decide.

You're right about XLive it does have a more advance community compared to Psn but it doesn't mean you won't have any people to play with , content will be on both systems.

Don't worry about the warrenty on your 360. Do the "Wal-Mart Glitch" as most people call it.
Buy a new 360. Swap the serial number on the back of the new one with the one on your old one. Take the broken console and put it in the new one's box and return it to Wal-Mart over the weekend saying it was a gift to someone but they already had one. Say (If they ask) that you only opened it to see if everything was inside since you heard that somepeople were missing the controller from the box. 100% money back.

Do you know anyone who has done this?

I'd buy it for the PS3 as you will never need a USB hub to plug anything into plus all of the controllers can be truely wireless (not attached to another controller...)
Also, I think that you'll find that many PS3 owners are older and may have some good musical backrounds to share and learn from!

Getting it for the 360 because I like X-Box Live more than PSN. Also why I got a 360 instead of PS3 so far.

My 360 has broken 5 times so I'm getting it for PS3. That and free online and another guitar for the other 3 GH games.

I say get it for the PS3, because it seems that your pretty worried about your 360 breaking down, and of course when you are playing RB you wana be concentrated in the game and in having fun. Not so much on, "Oh no!! is the Red Ring of Death gona pay a visit anytime soon????"
The PSN is fine, there's going to be plenty of people to play with online trust me.....
Then again, it's your money, I'm just giving my opinion.

Definitely 360 if you are concerned about Online play. many more people to play with, plus a better infastructure all around. however, the ps3 online is free.

as someone who had an RROD 360 that was not even 1 year old (and I sent it off, got a console that was manufactured on July 24th, 2007, and it exhibits the same overheating symptoms....grrrrr), as well as someone who is on his second original Xbox because the first one went belly-up as well...I've decided to sell my 360 + all games (including both gh controllers lol) and pick up a PS3.
I've got a PS2 that is what...6 or 7 years old? The only game I have for it is Guitar Hero 1&2, but it gets more use than my 360 does (like...daily GH play lol). Never had a problem with it. Never had one with my PS1 for the 5+ years I owned it either.
I'm just really tired of Microsoft (both their hardware and their DLC scheme). I'm going to try the PS3 for a while, and see if it brings much pleasure.
In the meantime, I'm going to enjoy my new Wii that was given to me for my birthday yesterday (though my birthday is actually today!).
I'm already in love with it, and hope that Rock Band/Guitar Hero will find it's way over to this console as well.

ill throw in my two cents. while it's true an obvious choice would be to choose the system whatever your friends will play on, I would think a bulk of the time you're with friends you'll be together in one room, not online. Online would be better to meet new folks from across the country or around the world. For that I would have to give an edge to the 360, since they have a much larger online community. The PS3 is so small at this moment.
I am a PS3 owner, I dont own a 360 and have no plans to at all.
The other thing to consider is if you do have an xbox and are worried about the system breaking down, I've read that the turnaround time for repairs and replacement could be 6 weeks. SIX WEEKS?! could you really bear not playing a $200 game (assuming you get the bundle) for six weeks? If you only own an xbox, then I dont think it's worth getting a ps3 just for rock band, but if you own both consoles, this is another thing to consider.
I'm not saying the PS3 is invincible either. I actually had to send mine in for repairs because the BD drive failed. But the turnaround time was satisfactory. The crappy part was it happened right around the launch date of NCAA, and it was hard not to see everyone else play the game while my system was with sony. i would freak if it took longer than two weeks.
Just some things to consider.
