Yup, I've pre-ordered both games. The only game I'm getting in between is Warhawk and perhaps Heavenly Sword, but I need to save up money for the "Christmas of Rhythm."


I'm looking forward to RB a bit more due to the DLC and better online play. Plus, I have terrible rhythm/coordination so trying to master the drums will take me a while and be well worth the money lol.

A 360 Elite is my priority right now to have by by birthday (Oct. 23), then RB, then GH3, but I'm definetly getting both. I'll probably pick up GH3 on release if I've already saved up enough to get RB. :D

I was thinking about it. With the release of Rock Band not for another 5 months or so down in Australia GH3 was looking more tempting than ever. I think I might just scrap the GH3 idea and use that extra money to import RB from the US.

Yep, and I'm annoyed that people are creating this rivalry, not just in the GH forums but also in our very own RB forums. GH3 for the better guitar tracks, Rock Band for the incredible multiplayer support is what I say.

I'll be getting both but the hardware situation is really annoying. Red Octane want to sell their guitars, sure, so from what I've read the Rock Band guitars aren't likely to be compatible - but I'm in the UK, so we'll be getting Rock Band months and months later.

I want GH3 and I want it on the 360 for the fancy graphics, online play, leaderboards and DLC. I didn't buy GH2 for the 360 since I had been playing it since launch on the PS2. Therefore I have no 360 guitar - so I'm going to have to purchase the Les Paul to play the game.

Come Rock Band's release, I want two guitars. The GH3 controller is confirmed to be compatible with Rock Band. Brilliant but there's no way I'm buying two Les Paul guitars... why get a duplicate when I can get something new, with awesome solo buttons? - so I get the Rock Band controller. I now have sweet band/co-op play on Rock Band with different guitars.

But now if I try to get some co-op/battle going on GH3 I'm screwed. The RB controller doesn't work.

What do you do? Ignore GH3's existence all together and get two wired Rock Band guitars? Support the Red Octane guys by buying two universally compatible Les Paul guitars - the people who are causing this mess by not supporting the Rock Band guitars? I don't want to screw Harmonix when they're the ones being great by supporting both guitars.


Pickles! I can only hope that once GH3 has been out for a while and they've flogged enough hardware they quietly patch support in for the Rock Band controller.

Rivalry is a natural extension of just about anything. Coke/Pepsi, Sox/Yanks, Pirates/Ninjas, Sony/Microsoft, Bears/Packers, I could go on for hours.

It does gets a little out of hand though I agree, when people resort to unfounded bashing. I am definately in the "getting both" camp (though with a great deal more anticipation for Rock Band).

Why does it take at least a month's difference to move Rock Band between 07 in America and 08 in Europe...

For this very reason (as Rock Band looks like 07 for USA and 08 for Europe, and importing won't work thanks to good old Region Protection dont we all love M$...) GH3 which is pre xmas for Europe will have my attention.

But DLC wise - although I bought all of the GH2 pack cos I was bored to death and no one in my neighbourhood has Guitar Hero on 360 so I can PWN them at it :P Rock Band will have to give me OK Computer or The Colour and the Shape to keep me interested :D I mean more than £1 ($1.90 ish) a song is plain rip off...

Lets just say - a company doesn't need profit. In theory. It begins with a c... its failed before. There's a better version which is less strict which begins with s... which worked in Britain until a certain Margaret Thatcher. And then there's the stupid ideal which begins with a... punk rockers love it.
