Two of my favorite singer/songwriters, who of course have amazing bands backing them. Here are my suggestions for the two of them:
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers
1.Won't Back Down
2.American Girl
3.Runnin' Down A Dream
4.Saving Grace
5.The Last DJ
6.Mary Jane's Last Dance
7.Honey Bee
8.Straight Into Darkness
9.I Don't Wanna Fight
10.Refugee
11.Jammin' Me
all of these would be great for guitar, Drums, bass and Singing.
Bruce Springsteen (The Boss)
1.Badlands
2.Born In The U.S.A.
3.Brilliant Disguise
4.Dancing In The Dark (maybe too much sax for RB)
5.Glory Days
6.Hungry Heart
7.Murder Incorporated
8.Radio Nowhere
9.War(What Is It Good For)--I know he has a live version of this.
*obviously there are a lot of other instruments at work in his music.. but I tried to choose songs with minimal sax and piano, they're all great rock songs, and c'mon, the man's amazing! RB needs at least ONE Springsteen tune.

Tom Petty is a definite. I like a ton of your choices too, but I would have to really sit down to decide which I would want to include. I think Walls, Free Falling and Into the Great Wide Open would have to be considered heavily

Very true! Haha all three of those would be great, especially Free Fallin', it's really hard though to pick just a few Petty songs that could make it into a DLC pack of some sort, because he has a slew of great rock songs.

well first off yeah tom petty would be pretty awesome. Although do you think they would ever allow covers a band would do of another artist? (Edgewater did a cover of wont back down, and they were pretty decent when they opened for finger eleven a few times.... Also on a very side note, H2O doing like a prayer from madonna is an amazing track and it could help that transition for people that like older songs with a modern harder punk feel to it)
But the thing is I really think you missed the name with Bruce so let me set the record.
Bruce Springsteen is GARBAGE
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band on the otherhand are AMAZING!
Has anyone heard the last couple springsteen CD'S im sorry but a crazy folk albumn and devils and dust were by no means as good as the groups efforts

Haha well I have some E street band songs on the list. the only thing is.. I tried to choose songs that were minimal on Sax solos, heavy piano and harmonica because you have to consider what would be appealling for a game like rock band, its bad enough in songs like Won't Get Fooled Again when theres like.. 3 minutes of synthesized keyboard and everyone is just standing there in front of the t.v. haha.
But I agree, Springsteens great, but the E Street band are what make him amazing.

I am not a big Tom Petty fan, but do enjoy the occasional Springsteen, and Radio Nowhere seems just ripe for Rock Band. In a world today where we genrize everything so specifically Radio Nowhere to me is just straight up Rock. Love that tune!

haha I just can't take springsteen sometimes. The mans a great tipper (hes always at the borders in eatontown, NJ) but he always plays terrible solo stuff around the area. I went to see him solo a few times and he seems to think the song will sound better if half of them he just talks through (aka no singing at all and alot of voice cracking) and that fact that there are maybe 3 hits next to 5 billion folk songs.
I agree that alot of the sax create problems but Clarence is friggen CLARENCE! I forget who he plays with on his own but he used to play around asbury alot. Then again I guess you take any part of springsteen and they dont hold up so well on their own, the max wienburg 7 cd is far from springsteen as a whole as well.....although they are catchy if not a little overly zoot-suitish
