And we got a handful of videos and 10 songs. Can't even confirm a bundle or anything. I'm sorry if I seem selfish but I can't believe they are holding this stuff from us when the game is supposedly coming out in 2 months. Thats to close to not have a release date.

Sure I would like to know when it comes out. You never know it could be earlier.

how about a compromise...2 and a half months :)

2 and a half months sounds so much better than 3 months.

I'm pretty confindent that I'll be importing RB to Australia, hopefully it'll cost no more than $375 ($310-ish US)

I'm sure they are not just holding back information for the sake of holding it back. They might not know the final production costs of the controllers until shortly before they go into mass production, which may or may not have happened yet, so the final price really might not be settled. Similarly, the release date may depend on how quickly they can ramp up production on the hardware and how many units they can crank out.

This is definitely not your normal video game release so I think we should be patient and thankful that they aren't just throwing out a release date that ends up getting pushed back anyway, or a price that is initially too high and scares people away (or too low and then we complain when they raise it).

That may or may not be considered a victory, considering how much (or how little) you like the songs. I'd trade about 7 or 8 of them for more information myself. That's only my opinion, of course, but I (and the people I will be playing with, who don't post here) feel like the set list took a big step backward. But I have faith in HMX, so I figure the next announcement will be better.

I love almost all the released songs so far, so that's good for me.

And how do you know it's 2 months, 3 months 2 and a half months away from release? We don't have a release date yet!

All I want is release date, and pricing. I don't care about what songs or what game modes or any of that right now. I need to know pricing/release date so I can figure out how much money I can spend on all the good games coming out this fall, and how much to save for Rock Band.

The makers of sig files which have simple grammar mistakes (but are otherwise hilarious!) deserve to die. ;) Then again, intentional double posting is REALLY, REALLY bad!

Just kidding you man, I couldn't resist. :p I agree with you about release date, etc. - but Nov. 20 has been quoted so much, I'm accepting it for now. If it changes, I'll know before I have to pre-order.

Agreed. Out of the 10 songs, I wasn't fully pleased with any of them, but I was pleased with The Rolling Stones song in there. I was also pleased with Blitzkrieg Bop replacing Rockaway Beach and the inclusion of The Clash, even though I never even considered them for Rock Band. So, while there were some minor disappointments, the future looks pretty bright for Rock Band. Have faith! :)

All I know is that if they don't announce a release date by September 1st, then my theory about just before or during the GH3 launch is gone... and it will make me sad...

Probably before. The goal is to snipe the buyers before they get GH, instead of just giving them buyers remorse and there's nothing they can do about it.

I'm thinking 1-week prior we're going to see a new game mode, or something else totally wicked.

Brock_Landers
08-26-2007, 12:25 PM
I also think that by waiting it out they get the added benefit of not having their press releases mixed up with GH3's info... not by the media, but I'm sure there'll be some casual gamers (or parents of gamers) who will be like "oh, I thought GH had song X?" or "I thought this came with drums, lol what?"

Don't forget the "E for All" expo is coming soon also, and Electronic Arts was just confirmed as an Exhibitor.

So who knows what we'll see then.

I would think by October 18th or whenever that starts, that would be the last wave of stuff announced(at least big stuff) and then there would just be more gameplay videos.

My guess is that if they are in fact going to be at E for Everyone, they will save their last big announcements for that.

ya i was hoping it would come out close to gh III so i could skip gh and just get rock band, i like harmonix better then the people that make tony hawk games no matter how many good songs i see announced for gh III i still think Rock Band will be better. I also only want to get one or the other because there is some of the same songs in both

Can't even confirm a bundle or anything.

I know you can't always trust web retailers, but EB Games does it have it up on their site. It looks pretty much like what I expected it to be as far as how everything is packaged. The prices seem pretty much in line, as well. I don't think the prices will change, but the release date will. They say that it is expected to be ship Nov. 20th...doubt it. I'm thinking a little later than that, but I could be wrong.

The game itself is 60, guitars and drums are 80, mic is 30, and a bundle of a mic, guitar, drums, and game is 200.

This is all very true. I think they are going to have to release the release date as well as bundle information very soon, as in this week or early next week, because it is just getting too close to the time of when we think this game is going to be released not to have this information out.

I'm just mad that I don't have something to base my money budgeting around. Like someone said earlier.

why dont you just start budgeting now in case of a rainy day (or an early release)? i mean even though nothing is official, i think we're pretty certain it will indeed be the $199 and a november release. that gives you at least 2 months to save up.

now if the game is going to be delayed till 08 (unlikely, but please no) then you have a right to be angry because you would have put off putting that money toward something else before release.

I promise, you and everyone else who get's too worked up about this stuff will be just fine. Fact is, games get delayed, games get released early, prices change, etc etc. All Harmonix owes you as a company is that when the game is released, you have all the information you need to make a reasonable purchase, and they're perfectly on track to do just that.

Just because you're obsessed with a game that hasn't been released yet doesn't change that fact. They don't owe you a release date, they don't owe you a price, they don't owe you anything.

It'll be out by the end of the year, it'll be around 200 bucks, that's all you need to know. Just chill and play some bioshock or something. That game is the awesome. :D

or put the set list on your ipod/cd-r and memorize the lyrics to all the songs so you'll be prepared to play and sing since it'll be tough to do both without knowing the words =)
even if you dont want to sing, listening to the songs repeatedly will force the notes and rhythms to be embedded in your brain and they will spill out effortlessly when you start playing the game :)

Okay, I'll admit it... I totally listen to the songs on the setlist at work pretty much all day long. I even tap out what I think the drum parts are going to be...

But seriously, I'm a cool person. o.O

I can't conceive that RB would be available on the PS2 in Europe but not NA, so worry not. Speaking about the PS2, according to other stats I read recently (FoxNews.com), the PS2 outsold the PS3 by an almost 4:1 margin in Q2 of this year. Ouch! Here's the link for that one:

The first thing I do when they announce a group of songs is figure out which ones I need to go buy of iTunes, then get them all into my Rock Band song list.

And I spent all of yesterday afternoon getting the lyrics for each song off the intarwebs...

I, too, am cool.
