It's all practice and timing. Once you figure our the cadence of the drum roll, it's not too bad, then it's just a matter of staying consistant throughout the length of the song. Practice, practice, practice. I wish there was a quick fix, but there really isn't.
Whenever I have problems with a song I practice it at 80% speed until i'm about 95% notes hit and then I do the same at 90% speed, and try to hit about 90% of the notes on full speed. I'm pretty much ready to go by that time.
Sometimes you have to pick your battles. I have troubles with off beat bass notes and sometimes with double bass kicks, but I can still pass the songs if I just forget trying to hit every note and focus on staying in control and skipping the notes that mess me up.
Much like the guitar, it's all about getting overdrive, so focus on nailing the white sections and make sure you have overdrive ready to save yourself when you start tailing off.

This guy knows what he's talking about.
This is coming from an expert drummer who's never touched a drum set before Rock Band, with only about a month or two of playing Drums, the practice really helps.
Skipping over those sloppy notes is the major key though, it was the only way I could pass Detroit Rock City on Expert.
Also, when the overdrive comes up and you don't absolutely need it, stop drumming entirely to get your mind focused and to rest a bit. It helps, and it's a good way to save your overdrive for when you really need it.

im seemingly permanently stuck on run to the hills on expert. i dont get anywhere close to beating it. i fail every time at 42%, with the highest so far being 56%. its just mind numbingly difficult.

Love Iron Maiden, but Run to the Hills was a crap choice for Rock Band. It's fun on guitar and vocals, but drums are just a big, long drum roll and bass is just non-stop triplets for the last two-thirds of the song.

Maiden has MUCH better to offer. Where Eagles Dare or Aces High would be great.

I'd like Minutes to Midnight. But I Run to the hills is definetely not a bad choice. Drums are excellent and really test your speed and indurance, much the same with guitar. Bass is the ultimate challenge for gallop strums becuause that's all it is the entire song, and vocals are a great range so I think it's wonderfull =]

Sorry to drive this off topic a bit, but for expert bass, do you guys do the gallops DUD-DUD-DUD-DUD, or DUD-UDU-DUD-UDU?

Im stuck here too! I cant beat wont get fooled again either, but I can tell that song wont be quite as hard. It just seems to fast for me but I find that I can do it a little bit more accurately if I hold the drum a little differently... I hold the drumsticks a little higher up and use my index finger to tap the drumsticks down on the red notes... It seems to make it a little more accurate. Still cant beat it tho and its hard as hell... I just went back and started playing the songs that I beat already and Im a way better drummer than I was a few weeks ago so that encourages me a bit. One of these days Ill find time to just sit down and practice all day and Ill get through it somehow...
