I'm seeing a trend toward some of the negative behaviors of the trashy official Guitar Hero game forums. I would like to humbly suggest it in everyone's best interest to police themselves and avoid these pitfalls before they get out of hand.

Specifically, a large number of users are bringing in their over-sized signature images, avatars, and animated gifs. These not only increase the loading times of the average page, but they also disrupt the ability to easily scan a thread for information.

If I as a reader want to scan through a page about recent PAX annoucements or whatever, the last thing I'm interested in is seeing half my screen taken up with an animated image of a cat playing a guitar. It contributes catagorically nothing to the dicussion.

Another common board faux-pas is the duplication of threads. I've seen literally dozens threads about guitar compatibility, release dates, PS3/360 online compatibility. Please consider that if it's a fairly common question, it has probably been asked and discussed. That means your answer is only a simple search query away.

Please don't take this as an attack to single out any one user. I myself have probably commited a few feats of poor board etiquette in my day. In short, these forums are great and we should all do our part to keep them that way.

I agree with this. Moar active moderators. But I really hope this place doesn't become a dictatorship like Scorehero.

I'm pretty sure Sean and Cinder would not let that happen to this board. It doesn't seem that bad, I feel they are doing a fine job. The only time it got bad was when Sean was gone on a plane :p

This place is a lot better than most online communities. People here are good at respecting each other's opinions for the most part and don't take things to personal.

I don't think we need more mods. The members just need to learn what content is accepted, how to be respectful, and other things themselves. I'm glad we have mods, but people should know how to act.

And Saltines, as a forum grows, so should the mods. Its an evolution so to speak. Right now, its going good, so no need for extra mods.

Maybe if mods were around that thread would've been locked before you first replied and I would've been dealt with.

Yes, because if you see a thread all about how much you suck you're just gonna not post "what the hell". And I even sent you a PM, saying "i dont want a fellow RB user to get blocked" etc. etc. nope, all cos I disagreed on Atlantis and Kiss. Then, you did the accusing of me of lonewolfing, then said it was no reference to me yh w.e. you're just backtracking for when Sean starts dealing with it.

Anyway, yeah, follow the rules, don't make my earlier mistakes (Beatles thread, anyone?) and you'll be fine :D

We can only keep hoping... :P

But, don't worry, I'll let it go... for now

that reminds me of:

Kojima's answer to "360 Metal Gear Solid 4": "We have no plans to port it over to the Xbox 360... yet" :D

I really hope that comes out for 360 eventually, I don't plan on shelling out $670 for an old guy with a mullet. :(

Wahey we agree on something! Well done.

Metal Gear Solid 4 is the shining light in the sewer of doom (weird metaphor but hey, at 14 you should have a decent imagination) which is the black beast PS3. Final Fantasy MVXIIIIXVVCROCKBANDISTEHOWNAGEMXIIIIIII or w.e. it is atm won't get me to waste a ton of money on a blu-ray player with minor game support.

However, MGS4 may not be too good - was it just me or did MGS3 suck compared to 2? Probably just me - ur probably still going on about pressing up for 10 mins on a ladder after beating the End.

Thankfully a few of the worst offenders have already left, and most likely won't make their way back. I'm sure some of you know who I mean.

MGS4 really doesn't look very promising........ and I am a huge fan of the previous games.

As for keeping things clean, we're doing a great job as is.

I removed the animated gif from my sig you referred to. I felt guilty. :o
