So.....I was a big fan of GH2 and bought 3 upon its release. And then once I got Rock Band, I switched off between drums and guitar. And then once I started playing drums on hard, I started playing drums mostly.
I picked up my guitar and tried dusting off my expert skills recently, and I have lost them! I cant even get through the songs I used to beat the living hell out of on guitar. And I played GH again a few weeks ago, and forget about it....I was having problems playing The Seeker's solo on hard.
This happen to anyone else?

Hell yes, I can play drums, vox and guitar on exp. If I stick to drums my favorite then I have to retrain on guitar.

Unfortunately, its not exactly like riding a bicycle, so yeah it seems likely that if you don't play one of the instruments regularly you will lose some skill with it. Keep playing if for a few days though and you'll likely get back most, if not all, of what you lost.
Additionally, for me at any rate, there seems to every now and then be a really bad day where for some reason I just can't play to save my life. Last night was like that for me. I was playing like s*** on easy songs, just couldn't get the beat down.

my guitar skills remain in tact, however i got used to the rock band rectangular notes. at first when i got RB they threw me off and i was like "wtf, why are they rectangular?!", but now it just makes sense to me.
so the other day i tried GH3 again (after downloading the free track pack), and the notes completely threw me off. i was like "what are these colored ZIT things flying at me?!" (cuz they do look like pimples). and i couldn't read them accurately, i missed tons of notes i would have normally nailed.

I'm terrible at GH3 now. I can still play a few choice songs really well (-1 on Cliffs of Dover, 303k) but new songs, or songs I haven't played in a while I am brutal.
But I think the key is to pick the instrument you want to be best at, or make a name foryourself with, and play it the most.
I rarely play my drums, and work almost exclusively on guitar. It's gotten me into a full expert band with a few first place scores on Scorehero.com
Make a choice.

Make a choice.Disagree. I alternate between Guitar and Drums. I'm stuck on Vasoline on Expert Drums (AGAIN! I was stuck on Vasoline on Hard a while back) and after playing drums solid for a week or so I switched back to Guitar. I was stuck on Ballroom Blitz (Expert), practiced it a bit and beat it, and then cleared Tier 8 and two Tier 9 songs in one go.
I find it is really nice to take a break from one instrument when I am feeling blocked/burned out and think it's a positive, not a negative.
Now, my perspective is I want to be able to beat every song in the game on Expert so I can play BWT in Expert and not crap my pants if a Tier 9 song shows up. People with higher asperations or who want to beat the game sooner than I might want to stick to just one instrument though...
In general I find the Guitar easier and Drums more rewarding. But I wouldn't want to limit myself to just one.

How about those with no Eye, Hands, Feet compatibility?
Because the Foot Pedal isn't constant, I can't play higher than Easy Drums...

Really? I feel like i got BETTER after learning to play the drums on hard / expert.
I used to always play the car by strumming down only, but now I can play Hard strumming up and down through the entire song. I think I've improved...

This may sound weird, but I found that GH3 made me worse at GH2. GH3 gives you so much leeway on notes, that going back to GH2 I'd miss tons of stuff I never did because I had gotten lazy.
And vsTerminus, something tells me your idea of brutal is not the same as some of the other people on this board. I'd guess brutal for you is a five-star 93%, yes? ;)
I play more drums than guitar these days, and it hasn't hurt me at all. It usually takes me a song or two to get reacquainted, but after that it's fine.
