So I'm still without an HDTV, and therefore am stuck in the days of 4:3... every single shot I've seen of RB has been in 16:9... Is there ANYTHING showing the game's HUD in a standard aspect ratio? Preferably showing four players at once.. this is one of those nagging "I've got a bad feeling about this" situations I've got going on in the back of my head. Please tell me I'm not going to be screwed until after I'm able to splurge on a new tv!

I can't remember which thread it was (it's in here somewhere), but someone from Harmonix commented on this. They said that they are doing tests on all kinds of TVs, including the crappy 13" p.o.s. some people still have and that they're not gonna leave those guys hanging. So I'm pretty sure you're all set dude. But how awesome would it be rockin' out on a bad ass 60" HD banger!?

That actually eases my worries. I have a 32" HD LCD. I was nervous that it would be too big.

When I play GH 80's on Ps2 I can choose "Widescreen Display" and it will shrink to fit better.
But when I play GH2 on 360, it has no such option, and the fret board is HUGE, and barely shows what notes are coming up because it's too wide.

I hope single player RB isn't like that, cuz no matter how far back I stand it's still hard to see the notes.

That'll teach you to get a 32" HD LCD!

Thats because the game automatically uses the consoles settings, BECAUSE ITS AN HD CONSOLE. Set your 360 to widescreen and GH2 will follow suit.

I could do that, but wouldn't it stay like that for other games as well? I'd have to keep changing it whenever I play a different game.

I mainly would just like to see an in-game option is all.

Why wouldn't you want to play every game in its native HD resolution? What benefits are there to stretching a 4:3 game over a 16:9 screen? On top of that the highest resolution an Xbox 360 will do in 4:3 is 640x480 (480p), which is by no means HD... you're not taking advantage of your HDTV by doing so.

I do want to, but playing GH2 on the 360 doesn't fit the screen very well. It stretches it out too much so that you see too much wide, and not enough tall. Thus, harder to see upcoming notes.

You said to adjust my console settings, that would be taking away from the HD experience no? And if I did adjust it, it would be set so I can't take advantage of the HD display, thus, making me have to switch the settings whenever I want to play GH2.

As far as graphics and appearance go, I'm only speaking of music rhythm games. Whatever helps me to see the notes best is what I'm looking for. But if I'm playing an action/adventure game, of course I want 16:9 widescreen display.

Huh. I have a 42" widescreen HDTV and never noticed it looking any different than it did on my old 4:3 32" tube (other than being prettier, of course). Certainly didn't notice anything odd about the fretboard. I'll have to check that out later.

It's not appearing any different, it's just too damn big. In GH2 on Ps2 there was the option for "Widescreen Display". This shrunk it down to fit squarely in size making it easier to see the board long ways, rather than width.

GH2 on the 360 doesn't have that option, so on my tv it's taking up the whole thing, and it's stretched out, so it's harder to see what's coming at the top of the screen because the fretboard is so wide.

I was only saying that I hope either:
A. Rock Band will fit evenly on the screen or
B. It will have the option to do so.

I can't think of any other games that allow changes for settings like this in game. The idea is to use the console settings and be done with it.

Given the upper comment about testing on all TVs, I will assume that if your console is set to widescreen, RB will adjust the game elements accordingly. Perhaps the problem with GH2 has to do with the game being a port and the developer has changed since?

well, i'm glad to know that HMX isn't leaving us without widescreen to be screwed with a poor HUD.

and yeah, it should be in the 360 console settings to display it in widescreen. i don't have GH2 for the 360 (bro in law does) but i thought it was there. either way, it should just work.

then again... the 360 is a Microsoft product lmao...
