How to download songs?

Oh God I feel like the most stupid person on the planet for having to ask this question, but ... I can't seem to find out how to download new songs. I've googled it, and all I ever find is the list of songs in the packs. I've searched here on this forum to no avail, I've searched xbox live, rockbandstore ... I've tried to find somewhere in the UI of the game ... I'm stumped. :( And considering I can't seem to find anyone else asking the same question it's gotta be so obvious that everyone (but me) can figure it out.

Sigh. Help? I'm using an xbox 360 ...

Unless your console is set to dashboard, not straight to disc.

OK, I'm feeling like a big bucket of fail right now, because that's exactly what I tried originally, but I still can't seem to find how to download any content. Here are screen shots of the pages I'm going to.

If I click on Rock Band Song Packs I get:

The only link on that entire page (other than the nav on the left) is the link to rockband itself. Clicking on that link takes me here:

Which gives me the option of buying the game, which is not what I want, obviously. At the bottom of the page are links to song packs, but the links take me to the same pages as I found earlier (that have no apparent way of downloading/purchasing). Even trying the "march 08" package gives me:

Which again only has one live link and that's the one back to rock band itself.

How is it that I'm sucking so badly at this????

OK. Now I understand.

Before I thought "go to xbox live" meant go to the website, since I didn't find anything like what I wanted on the console itself. But after removing the disc, all became clear ....

As you might guess - this is my first time with an xbox. n00bness at its finest.

Actually, my first guess was doing it on the console, but I couldn't find any way to do that (cuz I had the disc in), so then 2nd guess was computer via xbox live site, which seemed confirmed when told to go to "xbox live marketplace".

Mea culpa.

Thanks all. Just finished downloading a bunch of new songs. Can't wait to play 'em!

I can understand, everyone runs into problems.

You realize that you can press the Xbox Guide button then the Y button and it will exit the game and take you back to the dashboard right? No need to remove the disk even if you have your console set to start the game/movie in the drive when you turn it on.

I have mine set on "go to dashboard on start-up". I prefer that.

I do that too. I always check out the new stuff (new demos, videos, game add-ons, etc...)on the marketplace before starting up Rock Band.

In fact I haven't been able to touch Rock Band for a while now because of this stupid bronchitis. It's hard it is to play when your whole body aches and you can't breathe. :(

All i've been doing since is downloading history channel and other television shows to watch and it's driving me mad.
