EA is confirmed to be attending Gamers Conference Asia in Singapore next month and they've said they'll be bringing Rock Band along for the ride.

Heres the source. (http://www.mcvuk.com/press-releases/31446/Gaming-Highlights-at-Games-Convention-Asia-2007-will-Score-with-Gamers)

Maybe this time we'll FINALLY get a release date and price point... Well, a man can dream at least...

Excellent...thanks for the tip. Looking forward to whatever they want to unleash...

It is possible, I expect we'll be getting some more videos and maybe some reviews from people playing it. I should hope that within the next two weeks we get a release date, as November is slowly approaching and an exact release date has not been announced. Going along with an exact release date should be some sort of price and bundle information.

There is nothing in the linked press release that suggests there will be new info released.

Boo for misleading thread titles.

Yeah, all that I read was that they would be showing off Rock Band...not that they'd have any new information.

It clearly says EA will be showing off Rock Band, and history shows that when a company brings a game to show off at a convention, it generally deals out some new info too. Thats the point of these things.

Boo for not reading the whole press release.

I think you are reading too much into it. They don't have to say anything new about a game, and often do not when it is showed. Whether it's at a convention open to the public, or a private viewing.

They just went through a whole weekend at PAX, what did they announce?

Ah, calm down everyone. We can at least hope for new infos, right? :)

Anything new would be a pleasant surprise, but I think you're too optimistic. The Asia GC is too close to the GC Leipzig. All they're really doing is giving Asia a taste of Rock Band. If we do end up getting a US release date and price, I doubt it will be a result of the Asia GC since that information would be irrelevant to that region.

I personally don't think we will get any info here, but the Tokyo Game Show is a different story if they show there. That's the next BIG convention.

when is the tokyo game show?

MrMet2087

nevermind i just found out, the Tokyo Game show is September 20th-23rd Thursday through Sunday. the first 2 days are buisness days i guess, like an E3 invitation only, but then sat and sunday are for everyone

Forgot about TGS, that's when we'll get the real big info most likely.

Harmonix isn't a major player in Asia to my knowledge and while I can dream of them pledging allegiance to Asian gamers with new info (One Winged Angel FTW? Can I get a witness?) I say "Nay good sir!"

i think the hope is that even though it's not as big in asia, enough media will be present, since it is a big event, to garner some attention and make an announcement.

Dunno. I think I'm reading it differently than everyone else.

Keep your fingers crossed (and on the trigger buttons) for blockbusters that include the popular soccer game, FIFA 08?appearing on just about every game console you might own? and Rock Band, a musical game that will come with special controllers in the shape of guitars and drums.

I don't get the impression they're saying it will be there definitely.

I wouldn't expect any new information from this. At least, nothing big. I certainly don't see them announcing the US price and release information at an Asian conference.

[Edit: I see someone already brought up the regional thing. The rest of my post stands though.]

i dont know i just want a price and a date, i think it's kinda ridiculous that we're 3 months away and don't have an official date or price yet, i wanna pre-order, but i dont know what im pre-ordering, im a little ticked they are still quiet on those 2 subjects, gitar hero 3 has had a date and price for about 4 months now...what a joke

Wow, does this mean Rock Band is being released in Asia? It wouldn't make much sense to show it at an Asian Gamers show, and not put it out here. I REAAAAAAAALLY hope it is. I don't mind waiting an extra couple of months if I don't have to pay the ridiculous shipping fee

I think at TGS we'll get some new songs, it is a big show...

Wouldn't expect anything until then since it is so close to PAX/Leipzig.

Surprises are always nice though...

We might get another 5 songs before or at the TGS, but even at TGS they probably won't be announcing release dates and prices... it's just the wrong context, like others have said.

Prices and details of the bundles would really be nice, though, but as long as I have enough opportunity to pre-order to get a guaranteed wireless bundle (or a la carte for similar pricing) at release, I don't mind too much.

I like this:

"special controllers in the shape of guitars and drums."

They could have chosen so many better ways of saying that, haha.

and yeah, keep in mind it says "Keep your fingers crossed (and on the trigger buttons) for...Rock Band"

Also keep in mind, they have released information at each of the past two expos; mostly songs. If they do take part in another event before release; I think the expectation of a couple more songs is grounded but as for the other major announcements like price(s), date, and online mechanics; I wouldn't EXPECT those at all. They've been on the marketing campaign with RB for a while now and obviously have a plan set in place. Those announcements will happen at a strategically chosen time and place. I could even see something like the online mechanics being released as an exclusive through "someone" like IGN. Price and date seem to be things more likely released in a press release capacity.

I heard from a 'reliable source' that they are emailing members with no pricing-release date demant posts the pricing and release date information.

So sorry to all you demanders!

it's this simple:

You don't have to buy the songs.

Aya Hirano - "God Knows". That's all I want to hear from EA's lips while they're scouting for cheap asian bootlegs.

Really? Well at least I've got a tiny glimmer of hope. It's not on the playable PS3 games list, but now that I think about it, Rock Band has always been demoed on the 360. And then there's what Alex Rigopulos said:

Joystiq: So far, your series' have only been available in the Western market. Has Harmonix ever considered aiming a rhythm title towards Japanese audiences?

Alex: Indeed, this is something we're actively considering right now.
