as a drummer i cant wait to see how they play on RB, heres a vid some people might find useful, if you are really bored and desperate to do something, anything RB related waiting for the game to come out!

this is a great drummer dave weckl, explaining the moeller technique, i found it really useful once i learned it and i think to play the hi-hat rhythm on tom sawyer it will be damn useful to be able to use this technique, just depending on how responsive the pads are

get a pair of drum sticks and you're away

That was actually pretty cool. I'm gonna need all the pointers I can get after seeing those two guys banging the hell outta the drums in the Don't Fear the Reaper duel video :O

I think it might be more helpful to have a basic stick technique explanation. As cool as this technique is, I don't know the first thing about holding a drum stick; and I probably have a jump on you guys since I play bass guitar and am dating a drummer ;) Know of any videos like that?

the moeller technique is a godsend... my bro-in-law was learning that when he got his electronic drumset last year, definitely a good watch.

I actually own this DVD that was posted. I wonder if we should start a thread for percussion techniques? There are many other stroke techniques out there as well. I don't know if it should be left to an actual percussion forum or not though.

That is a very useful video. I'll tell our drummer to look for this sort of thing in future.

i think that would be a good idea. i wouldnt suggest sending rock band users to a percussion forum to talk about learning technique for a video game, you would be ridiculed. id like to think of it as a newbie guide to drumming thread. links to video clips like the one already posted in here.

i dont know much about drums, and dont expect to become an expert through rock band, but part of the reason im intrigued by the game is the introductory development it offers. would be good to see samples so we dont condition ourselves to play with poor technique.

I have no idea how to drum properly, so I'm gonna go watch that again.

I don't know that the Rock Band songs are gonna be that fast, but that was pretty cool.

Maybe an instructional video on how to separate the use of your feet and hands for bass drum and the toms/snares?

Hmm...upon watching that video, it turns out I adapted the Moeller techinque on my own without ever knowing what it was. I guess it's just common sense.

Truthfully, I doubt we'll need to be able to drum that fast on Rock Band. That is, unless we're playing the Jordan of Drum Solos...

I wish it was even faster. Unfortunately it doesn't seem like it will be that difficult and that's how a lot of people want it for some reason.
