Both these riffs are really fun to play on guitar. Night's Blood is quite the challenge since there's tons of changes and what not.
And nothing beats an Immortal video(not this live one.)

That's cool. SOme good head banging riffs in the clips you put up. Esp. the Night's Blood. Too bad the audio quality wasn't better.... That's the way it is with those you tube clips I guess. Still, I love being able to pull up clips like that.

Hard to beat Angus Young for "riffs'.

Even though his are mostly 3 chord and easy, everytime you hear the first tone from any riff from him you automatically know it's AC/DC.

Also the begining and toward the end in Ted Nugent's Stranglehold are great riffs.

I know Malcom plays rhythm but I though Angus played most of the riffs first then Malcom joins in . Obviously after the first parts of most of their songs they play the riffs together and when Angus goes into the solos Malcom plays the riffs. If you listen to songs like Back in Black or Highway to Hell, Angus starts out playing the riffs then Malcom joins.

You could be right that Malcom writes the riffs , not sure about that.

Maybe I should rephrase my statement.....any riff from AC/DC (that should cover it....lol)

Well looking at the videos that I posted up, they don't sound great at all. The originals (and better audio quality gigs.) make the songs flourish, and those that I posted didn't do that at all. If you can, check out the originals, especially Dissection. IMO they were a really, REALLY talented band from the early 90's.

Nice props to Prince.

My favorite Prince guitar riff is "Bambi" from his second album (called "Prince"). Unfortunately, I couldn't find a vid of it. I only have it on vinyl. But here's a taste (I got it off allmusic.com).

There's an option for "embed" in youtube.com. Copy and paste that url into your post and it'll put the window up.

I know RATM is widely known for its hard funkiness-ish.... but this one song off of The Battle of Los Angeles, in my opinion forms a perfect union of funk-esity-ness-ish as it should be.

<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/0h3gp8lborM&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/0h3gp8lborM&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

... note: the beat really lays down once the vocals start.

and of course, the one riff that will make me stand up and mosh anywhere but in church (luckily i dont think i'll be hearing it there :) :

<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ugmxdT5qnE4&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ugmxdT5qnE4&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

so many great ones... and for the record i think Scott Ian may be the best metal riff writer there ever was.

:)
