View Full Version : Rock Band Meetup ATTENDANCE POLL

I'm trying to gauge potential attendance for the idea of one of these meetups that Jasmine came up with. So, let's say we organize a national gathering with all the swag and so forth. For sake of me trying to organize, let's say it's in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. You would need to cover your own transportation and lodging. Ticket price to be determined.

WOULD YOU BE INTERESTED IN ATTENDING? Need as many votes as possible so I can estimate attendance and choose the correct venue. Once I pick a venue I can go to sponsors and get them to help with its cost, thus reducing ticket price. Unfortunately I can't even estimate a ticket price until then.

I know I should include a "maybe" or "depends on ticket price" option here, but remember, this is not asking if you WILL attend, just if you're interested. So just yay or nay. :)

Eh, you probably shouldn't have said a location, meh.

You should ask for location of person voting if possible (for instance I live in North Las Vegas, Nevada).

Yes I would be interested in going.

BTW whatever number you come up with, Make sure it's {insertnumberhere}+, because hopefully we could get some talk going on the internet in some places to gather interest.

Heh. I'll be putting this in my sig in a min or two...

Well the people I'll be talking to will be wanting to know attendance for the venue in my area, so I kinda had to say my location, lol :)

I agree. I would be interested in attending this type of thing, but the venue would have to be easily reachable. I'm in the SF Bay Area, so I would vote for a venue in San Francisco. Although, if I can come up with the money, I would travel out of state :)

Yeah! Las Vegas would be a good place to have something like this. Maybe we could get some Live entertainment (ex: The Killers). They are from Vegas, right?

Also, it would be a quick flight to Vegas (driving there would take close to 10 hours). I would be too tired from driving to play RockBand when I got there :p

If we do a national gathering, let's face it, some people are gonna have to travel...lol I'm just seeing if I can pull the right strings for it to happen here. dady5000 if you want to check into the same sort of stuff in Vegas, cool. Let's just see what works out, ya know?

I love that you seem to have some connections to persue the possiblity of this.

But I don't have the same liberty. Heh. I'm only 16 11/12ths. (I'll be 17 the end of this month).

But I know enough about geography that Vegas would be the ideal area for most of the Southwest.

Nah, I don't really have any connections and to be honest I don't know the name of a single person I'm going to call about this. I've just seen how these types of events get put together before so I'm just following logic. It'll just be some searching to find the right phone numbers for booking venues and getting quotes from different places. From there, I'll look up a few bands' websites. Every band has on their website the contact info for their booking agent. I call the agent and talk about the idea of the event and gauge their interest, and get a quote from them on how much they would need, as well as checking their schedule to see how far ahead they are booked. Combine these with the potential attendance and I have enough solid information to tell to potential sponsors. Hopefully sponsors like what they hear and help us rent out the venue and pay the band. From there, it's all up to us, the fans, to finish out the details of what to do with our time in the venue! :)

Not quite sure why this has a specific locale, as it hasn't been decided yet...

*confused*

Just trying to take a pulse for if it was done in Dallas. For the MOST part, everyone keeps suggesting cities that are close to them and I'm trying to gauge willingness to travel for one of these deals. So far, looks like that's not much at all! LOL

I think it'll be better once the poll can determine a good location. THEN, see how many, ONCE THE LOCATION DECIDED, will go to that specific locale.

I live in Houston, TX, so it would be a little drive for me, I'd like to know what this get together would involve before committing to driving all that way.

Honestly, if it's a small, local kind of thing, I'd go because I would probably be viewed as a good player--maybe one of the better ones there. If I go to a national kind of thing, though, I'd feel really stupid for flying all the way over there, getting a hotel, spending tons of money, and ending up looking like a frickin chump in front of all of you psychos. :D

JakeARoonie

LOL I haven't beaten Medium on guitar or Easy on Drums yet, so I think I'D look like the chump. :) And my voice is in no shape to even attempt singing... :P

I'm sure there can be an area based on difficulty.

it should just be part of quake con.

just kidding.

If it's just about fun and playing multiple little rooms set up to be "green rooms" where people could just play for fun out side of the main exhibit hall. in the main exhibit hall their could be a large stage set up for competitions, but people could also sign up for times to play while the competitions aren't going. monitors every where, smoke and lights and a lot of jumping and running and being goofy.

and at the end of the day the winning band get's to play "jump" by van halen which will be released as DLC at the event. alright!!!!

I mentioned that last idea earlier but wanted to make note of it: I would DEFINITELY want to coordinate with HMX on DLC, so that we could have a performance coinciding with the release of new DLC. That is, of course, if HMX will work with us on that sort of thing. Ideally (I'm only saying Paramore as an EXAMPLE here, not saying this is what would be preferred! LOL) we could book Paramore for the national big gathering, definitely make it a 2-night event, and if they choose to arrive the first night, we could have them hanging out and playing RB with the other people, and then the second night they could play a set including a song that would be released as DLC the following week. Make sense?

I put I am interested.

But with money so tight, as far being able to attend...that's an entirely different story.

It would be nice if Dallas was somewhere that isn't..oh I dunno, a billion miles away? I live in Georgia, not able to travel that far. Most people live in other states, good luck getting people to attend.

I checked "No way" but mainly because I would not want to travel all the way to Dallas, a more centralized location would be much wiser in regards to attendance. Dallas is obscenely far from the corners of the country, I think if looking for a big city Chicago or St. Louis would be a much better choice.

It depends on the date and location for me. I live in Washington but I would be willing to travel much farther if it was during the summer.

I put no way as well, due to the fact that I live in Wisconsin. However, if there was one in Chicago or even St. Louis, I would be up for it!

EDIT: perhaps it could be a tour of some kind? Hitting many of the major cities? This would definitely broaden out the range of attendees.

I remember in the original location poll, Chicago had a large number of votes.
And its nowhere near close to me. I'd just think itd be a better place to have it. And I would make time to go there.

I'd be interested if it was closer to my area.

According to the Locations Poll, it seems like Chicago or Boston are the most favorable.
