So far almost all of the wish list features have come through to either being in the game or another version of it. I made a post on the IGN RockBand Board like 3 months ago when little was known about Rockbands features such as create a rocker and stuff. Here's the OLD post.
Rockband is about music simple as that I know. You can have all the craziest game implications you want but if the tracks suck and it's too similar to guitar hero the game is going to suck I understand that but a few things that I wish were added to the game that would make it feel as though your more immersed in the world. Here's what I would like to see.
Create A Band/Character - Alot of us want this feature I know I've heard it a million times, but it really would be something nice to have. Then you could make the guy look like yourself as well, any of the outfiits that he wears would reflect what you wanted his "persona" to be like. Also you could make what your Drummer, Basist or Singer looks like as well if you wanted to customize your whole band to look like ZZ-Top or something then you could.
Stage Elements - Your band already go through several changes from each venu but, if you go to a real concert you see that the bands all bring their own equipment for items such as the name of the band on a banner or large screens with videos playing in the background or of the band on stage. The nice thing would be if you could purchase stage items like pyro technics or screens or lazers or something like that. You'd have different levels in which you would be able to unlock certain items like say having to five star a certain song unlocks a certain upgrade to your stage items that can be purchased at the store for example or various other ways. So not only would you be trying to get 5 stars on songs and things such as that but you'd also get new equipment for your on stage apperances. Also you could tie in the amount of money you would get for the performance based not only on skill of song but show quality.
Tour Mode - Make it so that your not just going down a narrow one way path. You would play the game as though you were a band on tour and having to get your rep high enough so that you can fill a larger size venue. You could sign onto a deal with a larger venue in the beginning but get very little revenue/money from the performance if you had to pay for all of the costs of putting on the show and it wouldnt really pay off for you until your bands reputation got larger and you could fill that size of arena. So you could implement an attendance rating. Instead of just unlocking other songs you would "sign" for them by getting the rights for example to play that song. (done the same way as buying bonus songs currently but for all songs in the game.) The better or more well known the song is the more revenue you'd make from playing that song in concert. So before each show you would make your "set list" based on the songs you currently own. The better mix of songs you have the more revenue you make. Also each song could have a popularity bar to show that fans either like or dislike a song. You could also have it where if you have a popular song but after you've played it into the ground the popularity bar for the song goes down and won't get as much revenue for playing it because people will be getting tired of it and the bands "reputation" would go down because they havnt come out with anything new in a while. Songs could also achineve the rating of "classic" such as most people consider the song "Stairway or Freebird" a classic.
Custom Setlists - Custom Setlists so that say you and your buddy or just yourself are playing quick mode and instead of going back to the pick a song menu it would give you a quick rundown on how well you did on the song and if you wanted to hit the red button to see more details about that song otherwise hit the green key and continue on with the next song you had previously picked on your "setlist".
Downloadable Songs - Not a new idea by any means and is already being done although you should be able to download single tracks for $1.50 a peice at the most. (you do have to remember that it's more then it would be for say itunes becuase they do have to re-record these tracks to be playable. unless given the track originals) Although they would constantly be updating with new content and new bands from Alternative Rock (Three Days Grace, Breaking Benjamin, Disturbed) all the way to Punk, Soft Rock, Southern, Death Medal, Pop Rock, Guitar Hero Contest Participants... etc.. That way they could just keep making money from this service rather then keeping people to buy a new game uness they just wanted to add new features like an expansion pack type of a game. If not this idea then something similar to Guitar Hero Encore: 80's Collection but for all various genres.
These are just some of the ways I personally would like to see Rockback expand on the Guitar Hero expirience. The Tour Mode would be run and managed alot like Season or Franchise mode in Madden or MLB 2K7 is so it would be easy to follow but wouldnt require too much difficulty for managing your band. Tell me what you all think. Good ideas... or just wishing on a whim and a cold beer?
So far I'm glad about how much Harmonix has been listening to the wants of their fans and players knowingly that they themselves are like the rest of us and want to see all of those little things we've wanted to do since GH1 come to pass. Tour Mode I'm still unsure what they still have in store for us becuase nothing major has been anounced about it yet so I'm exicted to see.
