Hi all,

I guess its GH3 for me this year then, not much point thinking about this game as most of the US will have comepleted/got bored of it by the time I get it.

Thats my plan

I'm in the UK and terribly impatient too...
Say I did import from the US, the game would work as PS3 titles are region free, yes?
What about download content and online play? Will that be determined by the console or the game?
I really, really, really wanted this for Christmas and its a little gutting that once again the UK & Europe is shafted on the release schedule.

I'm really disappointed about this- I was looking forward to playing it with my family on Christmas Day, but I can't now. I will always keep abit of hope though as the title of that page was 'Rock Band to miss Europe 2007?'. I will remember that there was a question mark on the end of that, it's not likely but still possible.

I wonder if there is even a remote possibility of it being released in Australia this year? They haven't said anything about our release date yet. We do have a significantly smaller user-base after all.
....What? I can dream.

Argh, that's nothing new.
Thinking about import either, just gotta wait if the 360 version will be region free.

Bored with Rock Band? Never! I seriously don't see myself playing any other games for at least 2 years after it's finally released.
I find 1 game and stick with it. Rock Band will have one of the highest replay values in a game ever I say.
I'll see all you Europe and Down Under folk online in the future :D

That importing thing sounds too risky to me. Never know if the DLC is specific to your game and all that.

Ok, Ive not posted on these forums for a while............but I really feel like ranting right now:
Im really getting sick and tired of these ******ed delays between releases for games, and we all know the reason for it as well, dont we? Inferior NTSC coding, shipping, languages and even re-writing the manuals for helplines.
All of these reasons are fair enough, but the size of delay time is rediculous, maybe not for this game, but for the majority of games, it can sometimes take 6 months+!
Does the games industry really not care about European gamers? Because that is the strong impression we're getting. Even Nintendo, who I always felt were the least "Evil Corporation" type, have placed large delays on games for no reason what so ever.
At least give us some courtesy, EA, MTV, Harmonix, whoever............at least tell us why the game has been delayed, at least then I can stop thinking that the games industry likes to bugger us over.
Oh, and delays are only the half of it, we get ripped off too price wise, but thats for another day and another rant. :D

Hm. I just hope it comes out in January here. :p
If so, I may not import it. I probably can wait until January, but not until very much later.

wow
not to break your rant up or anything, but did it occur to you that maybe the reason for delay is the production of hardware? Or rather, the speed at which they are being produced?
OT:
I'm not importing. I'm getting GH3 this november, and I'll use it's controller as the bass-guitar in Rock Band. Importing a $200, 9kg package would result in some insane VAT and shipping-costs.

I'm hoping I can get around that if i have to. I have a US account on my PS3 (so i can access the US store, i also have a japanese one) so that should work fine, right?
If not, i'll just wait 3 months or whatever and buy the game by itself when it is released in Australia.

No official date has been set yet although Play.com have it listed for 26 October but no controllers are listed for it other than for the Wii version..

I read somewhere that we get it like 2 days b4 Europe, so no biggie... dunno how accurate the article was, thus the uncertainty in my original post, lol
EDIT: Wiki says Australia gets it 5 days b4 the US but yeah, thats wiki... I think the Australian release date is Oct 31st

If it is region free and you are worried about DLC content. Why not just make a US Xbox Live Silver account?

Production time was the reaon muted in the link on my original post. As for the GH3 controller, is that gonna work on RB, there was a thread about that a while ago, although I think it was the wireless versions that were going to be troublesome (wireless licensing blah blah)

Interesting note about the whole "It takes time to code" stuff...
When I first made my preview copy of Custom hero, I tried loading my game onto the PC... no go, so I had to download one. Queue me (unfortunately) having to download an NTSC version (i.e. US). When it plays, it's on a different frame rate, and so the bottom bit of the screen is black (no actual screen missed, it just fills the top 3 quarters of the screen, and ignores the bottom quarter).
It also created a brand new save file on my memory card, meaning I essentially now have 2 GH saves, one for a PAL release, one for an NTSC release.
I could, however, copy a couple of small files onto the PC, one of which was the code for the UK version (SLES_544.42, as opposed to the US' SLUS_214.42), I did nothing more than switch them out, I re-wrote the disc, and lo-and-behold, we had a full screen version, and it's using everything that the PAL version does (including my PAL save).
Tons of coding needed? Or one file (3.41 MB) needing to be changed?
Enough of the clever "let's make 'em wait and salivate at getting the game" just release the damned thing.
Rock Band's likely the only game that can't really get pirated, 'cause people still need the instruments to play it, but this is a severe reason a lot of games get pirated in Europe, we get them stupidly late compared to the US/Japan. Just release them at the same time and maybe, just maybe, it'll cut down piracy a bit more? Just a theory...

Nothing against you mate, this is purely me continueing an argument, not making enemies.
Anyway: this just furthers my point, why it that we have to wait while they produce the hardware for America and THEN us. Why not both at the same time? Or at least at a closer date?
But, alas, my rant was not really aimed totally at Rock Band, but at games in general. Rock Band's delay is not as bad as some games (as I did say before) and Im not really annoyed at Harmonix or whoever for the delay, just that the mention of delays and things for Europe just reminds of how many games do this. hardware reasons are fair enough, but almost all other games do not have this limitation and thus I do not see why we have to be side-lined all the time. (note: Im not talking about general delays with the production and shipping of game discs, etc. Im talking about delays on top of those, where there is no excuse for it, where the delay becomes sometimes a whole year behind the original release.)
I agree with you anyway, and Id like to point out that I was ranting, not starting an argument or debate. Emotion overtook me and I felt I had to post it. Nothing to do with the thread really, lol.

I know what you mean Ardius.
Also, to cover yours and lorddavid's points I have a great example.
I used to play a game called Tac Ops. It started life as a free UT mod and grew to be a full retail game.
When it came to going retail, it was released in the US first, even though practially no one played there. Then it was later released to the UK, after everyone had downloaded it from US peer to peer servers.
An example of corporate stupidity at it's best, I still bought it as I wanted to support the developers of the game that had given me a lot of fun for two years, and which I continue to play to this day.

The above statement (about wanting to support the developers) Is exactly why I buy CD's and such, when I could so easily download the entire album.
I'll often download the album initially, if it's good, I then head out and buy it, if it sucks, I'll just delete it, which in my eyes simply means I'm not wasting my money, as if I hadn't heard anything by most of my favourite bands first... I'd have never given them a chance. If only more people would see that the net is a good way of giving people a preview of an album, things would be better off.
Still, regarding the current topic, it really is stupid that they wait so long before giving us our release, as there's very few like myself and WildWalker around, who will buy stuff even if they've somehow got an imported/downloaded copy prior to launch (I dun do it with games, mp3's are easy to just download quickly, listen to, then remove if ya dislike 'em, full games are too big to download for a "quick preview" lol). Most will just say "there, got it pirated before launch, don't need to buy it now".
Movies are the worst for it tho', and let's be honest, there's zero reason for that in this day and age. At least with games there's sometimes issues with language (Mario Party 8 anyone? :D)
