View Full Version : Geek Chic (I got glasses)

A couple of weeks ago I started to notice my vision getting a little blurry. I told my mom that I think I was getting near-sighted. (probably from staring at these forums all day :p) So we went to the optometrist and he told me I have great vision but I could get a very small prescription if I wanted to, he also said that they could help me for night time driving. I thought, "Sure, I'll get them, my mom works for the hospital so I should get a good deal on them anyway. "

So I picked out my frames, waited a week, and today I picked up my first pair of glasses. I have to admit, they look pretty good on me. I might just start wearing them all the time! They make me look a little geeky, but I proudly tell people that I am a geek, so I don't care. I realize that this thread is more of a blog, but I don't care. It is in the General section, so it isn't hurting anyone.

I used to wear glasses then I got shoved in a locker and peed on by the whole polo team, for being geeky. Good luck.

lol, my high school doesn't have many "bullies" and the football team is so crappy, you can make fun of them all you want and they wont do anything. I think I'll be okay, thanks for the concern though. :)

>>edit lol tucson, I would have gotten the monocle, but they wanted 500 Monopoly dollars for them!!
>>edit Shizzle, I got some Converse glasses, they are made of such small wire, it is hard to tell that I am even wearing the glasses.

Holy ****, they peed on you!? Nothing like that goes on at my school except for the occasional picking on the freshmen but that's rediculous!

I used to have a pair of glasses where the ear pieces were black plastic all the way up to the lenses and then gun metal black the rest. They were the best glasses, ever. Until my g/f dropped them into the Comal River :(

yeah, I was wearing them earlier when I was hanging out with my friends. They kinda bugged me at first, but after five minutes I forgot they were there!

I wore glasses for 10 years of my life. Last year I finally converted to contacts. Best decision ever (only if you need them all the time)

You'll definitely get used to them. The more unique your glasses are, the less crap you'll take from people nowadays.

For example, take hmxsean, he wears those black rimmed glasses. Those are considered fashionable. It's when you get the plain type glasses that aren't accepted as easily.

Don't worry about being geeky.

I think the "glasses = geek" or "glasses = unattractive" thing is too much of a stereotype.

I know plenty of attractive women who wear glasses. It is nothing to worry about or be ashamed of.

Hehe, I have perfect eyes, but I noticed that some glasses look good on me too. :p
I actually played with the idea to buy some glasses with just normal glasses in it.

I've worn glasses since I was 5 (I'm 23 now).. Wore glasses (most of them very hideous) up until a couple years ago, I got contacts. I switch between the two.. I wear contacts a few days and when they start hurting, I switch to my glasses. Bad thing with that is out of habit, if i'm wearing my contacts, I will try to push the glasses back up on my nose and end up poking myself in the eye since I'm not wearing the glasses :P

I just like to look smarter...and i enjoy the improved vision.
Plus you can't do the amazing removal of glasses without having glasses...the nerdy push your glasses up your nose thing is awesome right before saying, "I'm gonna kick your ass"

Try it sometime...it feels good

I got glasses back in March of this year and don't really wear them all that much, because they're a weak prescription. Two kind of funny things: my cousin and I have the same frames and didn't realize it for a good two or three months, and everyone else in my immediate family that has glasses is far-sided and I'm near-sided.

Welcome to the world of looking geeky, but in a class way. Unless you got emo-rimmed glasses. In which case, "EMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Go listen to some My Chemical Romance and Fall Out Boy and blah blah blah EMO EMUz0rzdnessez!" Not that I have the occasional listen to MCR or FOB mehself or anything...

no way dude, I didn't get any emo rimmed glasses. I got some really small frames, with square-ish lenses. I like them a lot.

@Coldplayer, If you really wanna be in the uber kool club of glasses wearers, I know where you can pick out some really cool glasses that are "out of this dimension" if you know what I mean ;) plus they are really cheap!! Here (http://www.3dglasses.net/plastic_3d_glasses.htm) is the link
