I would really like iron maiden in the game. I would suggest aces high or wasted years:)

Aces High is great; haven't heard Wasted Years.
Also for your consideration: Where Eagles Dare, Flight of Icarus, Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Seventh Son of A Seventh Son, Can I Play With Madness

"Can I Play With Madness" for Rock Band!

Nah, lets not bring in one of their most commercialised songs ever. Have you even heard any other Maiden songs?
Lesser known song?
How about Invaders? Or The Prophecy? Or Fortunes of War? Or Fallen Angel?
Any song would do, I hope they get the whole discography for DLC.
Personally, I hope for an epic, like Hallowed Be Thy Name, Phantom of the Opera, Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Sign of the Cross, The Clansman, Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, Afraid to Shoot Strangers, Paschendale, Dance of Death or Brighter Than A Thousand Suns.

Rime of the Ancient Mariner would be awesome, or, Hallowed be thy Name. I love the entire Seventh Son of a Seventh Son cd. I'd also like The Prisoner.

Anyone else getting nervous about no Maiden announced with only a few tracks left?
I'm going to be sorely disappointed if there's no Maiden.
I'm hoping they're holding off for some big announcement(s). Anything with Bruce would be near the end of the setlist vocally, so maybe that's the reason.

Its not as bad as Number of the Beast. Im actually hoping for that or Hallowed Be Thy Name. Powerslave and Wasted Years would be nice too. At least they cant do much worse than GH3, unless they get something off their newest album or something

Came on here expressly for the purpose of saying Up The Irons and... well, it's good to see there are people who already agree. When it comes to suggesting songs for the game though, I guess you need to look at all the elements; just because a song is good, doesn't mean it's got the right mix of guitar/bass/drums/vocals to make it suitable...
With that in mind though, I've been listening to a lot of old Maiden stuff and when you consider that Harmonix is looking to offer downloadable albums over the duration, I feel compelled to say one thing and one thing only: the original Iron Maiden album. Two slower songs aside (and even then, Strange World is packed with nice little guitar solos), the entire album is spot on with the right mix of stuff the game needs. Prowler is AMAZING, as is Phantom Of The Opera, the non-vocal Translyvania is a wonderful bit of riffing, Running Free has a grimy feel to it that makes me dirty just thinking about it and it even has the original, faster and far superior version of Iron Maiden on it as the last track. True, listening to Phantom Of The Opera gives me images of Daley Thompson running down an athletics track (and unless you're as old as me, live in the UK and remember the old Lucozade adverts from the Eighties, that'll mean NOTHING to you), but still... it's bloody incredible.
So, yes. Iron Maiden needs to be a downloadable album. Not sure how Bruce would feel about that, seeing as Paul Di'Anno would be on the master tracks, but hey... just a thought.

^Why would Bruce mind? Have you ever seen a Bruce interview or been to a concert? Bruce is a nice guy, he wouldnt create a ruckus over a video game....
Angel and the Gambler
THEN AGAIN!!!.......... ALL MAIDEN SONGS ARE AWESOME
I agree wtith you completely.....except for that song......the most repetitive piece of crap ever produced and is offically Maiden's worst ever song. (and music video!)
Any maiden album would be perfect for download, Id like to see their newer material though purely for the sake of supporting it.....the classics can grind sometimes.
oh, and the X Factor is the most under-rated album of all time! Clive is one of the best drummers ever! Blaze is a brilliant singer (see his solo stuff) and Janick is just as good as Dave and Adrian! Oh yeah, and Paul is awesome too!
There, no-one argue with that, no blaze bashing or Janick bashing.

No, no... you misunderstand. I don't mean how HE would mind because, as you say and is proven, he's an awesome chap. What I mean is all about intellectual property, band image, etc... with the band having a certain representation over the years, bringing back old material recorded with other vocalists might prove troublesome. Or it might not - I don't know how it works. I know I've heard many of the songs on IM done by Bruce over the years, so they might prefer using those master tracks to compile an album instead of the ones done by Di'Anno. See what I mean? Not wondering whether Bruce would have hurt feelings or anything... that's not an issue, is it?

I still dont see what the problem is. The band dont have a preferrence over Di'Anno, if Harmonix said "we'd like to have the master of Phantom of the opera on Rock band", Maiden would surely go "sure!". Paul, Blaze, Clive, Dennis....are all good friends at the very least with Steve if not with the whole band.
Also, theres a few other things:
1. The band is currently getting ready for their "Somewhere back in time" tour, and may not have the time to go back to the studio and re-record a track just for a video game, just because Bruce wasnt on the master......its a little rediculous.
2. There is only a preferrence to a singer that is currently with the band.......its not really a preferrence. The only re-recording ever done of a song is "Afraid to shoot Stranger" which was re-done with Blaze (and was far superior to the original). That featured on a B'side.Theres also the "fake" live version of Remember Tomorrow with Bruce dubbed over Paul, but thats more being lazy (probably couldnt do any covers or proper recordings in time for the release or something) rather than Maiden feeling they have to re-record the song.
I dont see there being any problems with using a Paul or Blaze master. If your worried about the quality of the recording......Steve kept a lot. Im sure he has the master on several million copies and has them in varying quality.
A master only really becomes a problem with the bands that dont keep all theri stuff, but as we have seen with the "Early Days" DVD, they have kept a lot of stuff, hidden videos from 1979 concerts and such. I think its more than likely Steve has kept the masters.

Bruce is the man.
I am for almost any maiden, such a great band. Hallowed Be Thy Name would be fantastic.. definatly a workout for the vocalist. Luckily, I just get to play those amazing riffs.
Iron Maiden is the only band that makes me want to sing-along.

I like the pieces they picked for the GH series.
The Trooper could be the one track I could potentially cover better than the cover vocalist. ;) Plus it would really require a good bassist with the amount of strumming/notes involved.
Plus, Rothchild is a fun little song in the 80's pack, even if it is short.

IMO, having a Maiden song in a game where you have to match vocals and it not being a Dickinson song would be as much of a crime as not having them at all. He is the voice of Maiden, and would be a great challenge for Rock Band singers.

That's exactly what I'm talking about though - Bruce is essentially what we've come in terms of IM frontage (well, mostly), and yet there are some awesome songs from when he wasn't around to. It's a tough call... although no matter what, we need to see some IM in there as downloadable album content. Just putting it in the main game as a single song isn't enough; give us all the Maiden we can handle!
And BTW, I can handle a lot. :D

I think Phantom Of The Opera or Hallowed By Thy Name would be awesome. Those have been staples of Maiden's live shows for over 20 years. I'd love to see Powerslave, or the full, unabridged Rime of the Ancient Mariner. Heck, I just want to make sure we get some Maiden for Rock Band.

True, true... but then, like I hoped earlier, they might be saving it for album download (meaning we'll get LOADS of Iron Maiden songs instead of just one) which is a good thing. Although, conversely, they said that there'll be less guitar-centric songs in RB and obviously Maiden's stuff is quite solo heavy in places.
Fingers crossed we get an album, eh? I've got to admit though, concerning Guitar Hero, there are better song choices than Number Of The Beast... a bit obvious, don't you think? It's almost like the people making it aren't really experts in the music field... :p

But then again, I suppose that's true of most Maiden songs. Actually, I wouldn't mind seeing "Somewhere in Time" or "Wasted Years" in Rock Band.

Actually, I think Maiden would be great because they would give everyone a workout, especially the vocalist. Hallowed be thy name would be great just for the "running Looooooooooooow....." line. I'd love to see people try to pull the whole length of that note off.

Its not just the singer who gets a work out, is everyone forgetting that Maiden have the greatest metal bassist of all time, Steve Harris?
Plus, listen to Where Eagles Dare.....who doesnt want to play that drum intro?
Or even Run to the Hills, thats got excellent drums too.
Then theres the bass intro to Blood on the World's Hands and if we want really hard singing, use Seventh Son of a Seventh (even Bruce has trouble singing it at full speed live) or Hallowed Be Thy Name (yeah, Id like to see someone try to scream that long and sound good).
If they put whole Maiden albums for DLC, I dont care which ones get put up, because they are all good! (yes, even the Blaze ones).

Sometimes I think I'm the only person who just can't stand Run to the Hills. Every other Maiden song I've heard, I've loved, but Run to the Hills just makes me want to punch a wall or a baby or something on account of how awful I think it is.
incidentally, Where Eagles Dare or Aces High for the win. Rime of the Ancient Mariner for double-ultra win.
