I remember when Home used to be called Second Life. I wonder why they changed the name....

You forgot MGS4.

You know, what can I say? that's the way it goes with these new times, you choose a console and you stick by it. I also wish I could play some of the sweet games for the 360, but none of my friends have one.

As for the games you mentioned, I can testify for WarHawk, been playing for two days and it is simply awsome. Heavenly Sword has gotten some solid reviews, will be getting that one also.

The rest, will have to wait and see, so far they look like winners.

Only crazy ppl with too much time will treat Home as a thing similar to Second Life. Most people will just use it every know and then to playing bowling or pool or whatever.

EDIT: Also Haze has become a PS3 exclusive. They have not begun work on a PC or 360 version.

It's a little early to make that assessment don't you think?. Who knows what HOME will turn into.

Right.. If I wanted to bowl I'd just put in Wii Sports.. Pool? Yahoo! Games works fine..

My assesments

Lair - No good, don't play this game. Sure it's visually amazing, but the controls are really frustrating. It's a shame becuase the game had so much going for it.

Warhawk - Played this one too, it's crazy fun. It's like a faster, crazier BF2 with better planes. A little short on maps and multiplayer only, but super fun none the less.

LBP - This game could be really good. Sure it's a simple idea, but so was warhawk, and that didn't keep it from being fun.

Heavenly Sword - Having played the demo, it's visually appealing, fun to play and short. According to advanced reviews, the game is the exact same way. It doesn't even clock in at 7 hours. It's appearently also repetitive.

Haze - According to todays 1up show, the demo and PAX is visually and technically lacking, I hope that this turns around for it's release.

UT4 - Looks fun, I have enjoyed prior unreal tournies, and this one looks to be shaping up as another good one.

Home - Looks cool, but it could get old fast. Not very much appeal through my eyes
(other than achievments and such)

Little Big Planet and Killzone look really cool, certainly not enough to merit buying a $600 console but still pretty damn cool. I would totally play them if they where on one of the platforms I do have.

Warhawk is pretty good and that's coming from someone that normally hates online play.
Heavenly Sword and Folklore are great from the demos.

Well, Home and LittleBigPlanet are nice, but the last one comes out... well, not until 2008.
MGS4, 2008 and all other interesting titles aren't out yet either.
Heavenly Sword isn't that great actually.

I think 360 owners still have the better lineup with games ike Bioshock and Mass Effect. One of those games alone is better than LBP and MGS together. Not saying LBP and MGS aren't good, but Mass Effect and Bioshock are better.

Well, still will get a PS3 once a new game by the ICO/Shadow of the Colossus developers is out, and/or FF13 as well as the new game by the Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy) developers.

I'm a PS3 owner and I don't think Haze looks all that great to begin with.

Heavenly sword is visually pleasing but I think it's only worth a rent at this point in time.

But what I don't understand is the sudden hate on MGS4. Not from the people on this thread, but in general. They released an 8 minute or so trailer when it shows all the different enemies and people were endlessly complaining "Is this a movie, or a game?" "Why isn't he shooting people?" "This is boring." Welcome to the MGS series. This is a series that had you put your controller into the second slot to beat a character in the for the first MGS game for the PS1. It's always had long cut scenes and the game always ends up amazing and with this being the last in the series, it should be the best of them all.

Its cos Kojima isn't the developing "genius" people make him out to be. The Bioshock world - THATS genius. But releasing endless movie after movie - unless its gonna be a 2009 release there is little excuse. Bioshock was demoed back at E3 06 - for REAL.

The cutscenes really drag it. Because a game is more fun knowing the story, a well-crafted story, and this is what Kojima wants, but they drag on so long you skip em, then it gets confusing what to do and why you're doing it. Thats why Bioshock was so brilliant, VERY VERY VERY FEW FMVs, audio diaries which were non compulsary, and you got what you needed to know without stopping.

MGS4 has to do something new. MGS3 disappointed me, a poor successor to MGS2 (shut up about Raiden please), and the PS3 controls are too tacky for Kojima to work his limited brilliance. The PS3 is too much of a middle man - you either go one way, the revolutionary, but new Wii - or the tried and tested, perfected gamepad controller of the 360.

4 face buttons, 2 analog sticks, 4 shoulder buttons, d-pad, start button, select/back button.

I'm confused here, how is it any diffrent from the Sixaxis other then the fact it's left analog stick and d-pad swapped places?

Completely different. The PS3 isn't weighty enough, vibration is a powerful tool in the epic games like Bioshock (I mean, PC betters that with mouse and keyboard but vibration is a great thing), the controls are SOOOOO much different otherwise.

The D-Pad and Analog switch is the best FPS controller you'll get (minus K+M but don't even think about comparing it to the ok Wii FPS controls). The two anolog sticks next to each other isn't right, it was good for the PS1, but not in the FPS days today, where player and camera control are now used with either analog stick. And sixaxis - Lair and Motorstorm show how that sucks.

I'll disagree with you on a couple things. The weight is a tad different which takes some getting used to, but rumble isn't really that big of a deal. I didn't even notice it after a week. ( I would like it for a baseball game to let me know I'm out of the strike zone though lol.) But MGS isn't a FPS so why would the sticks matter? The PS3 isn't even a strong FPS console, I think thats a given. That's the 360's territory. The big 3 games for PS3 everyone wants in the first half of 2008 (MGS4, GTA and FF) aren't FPS. At least the controller doesn't have "bumpers," don't even get me started on those abominations. lol. You are right that the sixaxis is terrible. There really isn't a point to it and when I have used it, it doesn't respond all that well.

Nuts to that. I'd rather never see another FPS if it means losing my ability to roll a katamari. And why use a controller for FPS games anyway? Keyboard + mouse is much easier to deal with.
