I'm white. It really bugs me having to listen to a bunch of people, regardless of color, sit there and throw around n-bombs or trash another person not because of their skils, but because they're black/Mexican/foreign.

I don't RB online, so I've not experienced it here, but on Call of Duty 4 it made some games unplayable. Thank God they gave us mic mute.

The funny thing is, none of those jerks would have the balls to talk like that if they had to use their real names or were actually face to face with you.

I dunno why your surprised, Its pretty much a staple of the consoles that becouse your not face to face kids say whatever they can to try to shock and be funny....... Have you never played any other games online? hell anytime a black guy was on CoD4, you would hear someone ask how he snuck out of the plantation to play. Its not uncommon, and most of the time it isnt funny, but its certainly not really news.
Part of the issue is not the fact that the comments are said, but rather becouse of how they effect the individuals, most dont say it becouse its how they feel but rather they say it soley to piss you off... and guess what it worked. Everytime I hear comments like this it is always fueled by having to show up and prove oneself. Just have fun playing the game, it only matters that you had fun playing not that you did better then the white kids.

My halo team is me ( a white guy ), with one other white guy and two black guys, and every time we actually do go into matchmaking, and someone from the other team notices the one is black, they automatically suspect hes a b00n and **** and calling them both the n word...blah blah, i feel really bad when people do it and i get really quiet and dont know what to say.

Racism is different from being obnoxious. I tell race jokes every once in a while, but I don't hate any particular race for being that race. Rock came from the Southern African-American community. It came from the Blues, and some of the best early rockers were Black men (Muddy Waters, Chuck Berry, etc.). Even B.B. King has some songs that could be considered rock. I mean, bands like The Rolling Stones and The Beatles were inspired by these Black American rockers.

When folks online ask me what color I am, I usually answer something like "plaid". If they press, I say "it doesn't matter". If at any point there's any racial epithets thrown around, they get reported.

It is amazing that people are semi tolerant of people not liking others for whatever reason (ie people who get trashed for being fat) but a person is racist and oh no, the world is going to end. Some people are locked in. Whether by bad parenting or poor area influences, some people will be bigots. In this information age we are no more than the sum of our words and actions. Some people won't get that, and think the internet is an anonymous playground to voice their ignorance. I personally think the internet is a vast community, and like all communities has a bad side.

I just don't invite those people to play along if I can help it.
