View Full Version : DLC - Compilations?

We all know that both single songs and full albums are on their way.

However, just a thought, what about compilations for bands that have a large selection of great songs... but spread across different albums.

For example, and I keep going back to Queen - I can't really think of an album where EVERY SINGLE song has "Rock Band" appeal, you know? I don't even think that EVERY song on their Greatest Hits album has that appeal... and there are many more rock-a-ble bands in the same fashion.

So, something like NAME-OF-BAND Collection - Volume 1 and so on...

Just an idea... discuss, y'all...

It was strongly hinted that this is how they will distribute Metallica content. They never mentioned albums, but said they would be distributing songs that span their career.

Yeah I hope this happens for bands with some songs that would be great, but not albums.

I still would prefer albums, I guess. I know with Compulations I probably never get what I really want.

Sean did say that for the DLC albums, you can just buy the songs individually. It may be more costly though.

It would be tough to make these packs though, as it can be just preference. For Metallica, obviously you won't get all the songs you want, unless they did full albums.

It will be a discount to get the albums, but picking certain songs will not be cheap.

in the end they still need to make money off DLC. if you are afraid you wont like all the songs, you'll have to go ala carte and pick whatever you want, but less the discount.

it's like buying music from a record store. you could just buy a couple singles and spend maybe 2/3 the price of the album. or buy the album for value, but maybe only really listen to half the tracks. of course there are always gems out there where every song on the album is worth listening to. :)

the real ? is the pricing.
