It seems kind of weird that these pictures are different than the picture of the physical mockups of the game that they took pictures of at EA's Leipzig booth just a week ago. Unless those were the Euro versions and these new pictures are just for N.A.

And is there anything different about these "official" pictures that is different than the pictures that Amazon/Gamestop etc. have had up for a while?

I don't think there is really any new info here. We always have known that some sort of bundle would be sold, but we still don't know anything about it.

The special edition is just going to be whatever the "big" bundle is, but we still don't exactly know what that is.

I don't think there is really any new info here. We always have known that some sort of bundle would be sold, but we still don't know anything about it.

They have never confirmed a bundle, but now these are the official pics and prove there is one. I know there was the wide assumption of a bundle, but now it is 100% confirmed. A pic at gamestop of a cover can be a completely different image from the final copy.

Well...I don't think anything is 100% confirmed until Harmonix or EA announce it. Kotaku doesn't even mention the source of their pictures.

Kotaku is a reliable source, and it says in the article that they are the official pics. I don't think they would be posting this if they weren't sure of the authenticity.

Perhaps, but these images are the same ones that Gamespot has used for a while now, and Gamespot gets their images from the publishers, so effectively EA had confirmed some sort of special edition bundle a while ago. The problem is that we still know nothing about it.

Anyway, I appreciate that you posted it, I'm just annoyed that it's sort of anticlimatic stuff we already have seen/knew about.

The name "special edition" is a bit of a misnomer if you ask me. It looks cool, I think this picture was actually shown a while ago though. Still cool, and I look forward to pre-ordering it, once there is a price and release date announced!

EBGames.com lists that it comes with the game, mic, 1 guitar and the drums.

For a box as huge as the special edition has it has to either have two guitars or a guitar and drums. Or it could be one of the instruments and a whole bunch of random junk. But I doubt that since Harmonix would rather keep the price down for things.

On gamestop.com it states (for x360 bundle): "Contains: game, wired guitar, microphone and drum set."

So it looks like only one guitar (that is wired).

You can buy the guitars individually for wireless functionality. Just the bundled guitar is wired.

Why would you cancel your reserve? It costs more for people to make wireless acessories for the 360 because of the way Microsoft did it. Plus, the guitars are completley diff so using GHII one would be weird imo.

Just do what I'm doing, get the bundle and if it is wired (nothing is confirmed yet, I hope it is wireless) buy a seperate wireless guitar and use the wired one for bass. It only comes with 1 guitar so you're going to want another one anyway.

When you use a wired guitar on your big screen, the cord isnt long enough. I pull mine out all the time. I know I can get an extender, but thats not the point...I shouldnt have to. Besides, how do you know the length of the cord? No-one knows that yet. These aren't being made by the same company as the GH and GHII ones. Wait to see what's announced before complaining.

I'm afraid I still don't understand this whole wireless craze and see it as nothing more than a luxury, a completely unneccesary one that will only raise prices. But I guess I'm just too "old-fashioned" for the modern day.

Instead, he's going to buy everything separate, which probably isn't that hard, and he will get a wireless guitar just like he wanted without wasting extra money (I think). If it's wired, I don't want it either. I'm just going to buy everything separate. Unless it costs less, of course, then I would buy the bundle and another guitar. But I have a feeling the bundle is going to be wireless anyway.

For what it is worth, the President of Harmonix pretty much laid it out like this:

Playstation 3 "Big Bundle" = Wireless Guitar

Xbox 360 "Big Bundle" = Wired Guitar & a USB hub included

DOesn't make a big deal to me anyway... I'm never far enough away with my GH II controller and even if I wanted to be, I'd just get a USB extension cord...

Exactly! I really don't mind having a wired guitar controller, changing batteries in the middle of a song blows. I've got two wireless and a wired for GH2 on PS2, and I like the wired more. doesn't help that it's the SG, and the other two are 3rd party, but still. cord doesn't bother me at all, but then again, I guess I'm used to playing guitar/bass tethered (unless I bust out that wireless too, which I'm currently using on my bass rig).
