or even with an expansion pack release or something? the more i play with character creation the more i realize how limited it is (no buzzcut for hair, wtf?), and i'd assume it would be a pretty easy update to patch.

I actually love this idea... I am a sucker for customization of my characters, and I think it would be nice to update the wardrobe and hairstyles every now and then.

Yeah, i don't understand all the requests for clothing dlc. I choose a character when i start playing but other than that I never even pay attention to it. I'm too busy concentrating on the screen to notice what the characters look like. Obviously some people like to create characters but to me that is the least interesting part of the game.

With that being said, I don't see why HMX wouldn't release clothing/accessory dlc. Makes sense to do so because it appears based on the numerous threads about this topic people would buy it.

That's a great idea. If you buy a Boston 6pack, you also get a Boston shirt (with the image of the album cover) in your closet. Buy Nevermind and you get all the clothes (flannel) and hairstyles to build a grunge character.

I was hoping the album would be more than just song-packs, but that a patch would allow you to play a new mode where you play the whole album as a set, and you play as the band members, with custom character models and everything. Make you feel like you're drumming as Dave Grohl/Keith Moon instead of your customer character. I've been hoping that these delays for the albums have been because they are working on making the albums more than just lrge song packs.

this would be sweet...i just got into the character customization, i used to have a guy that would be on screen playing guitar but i just created myself a guitarist and a singer and i want more stuff, especially more modern metal stuff like band tees, hats, etc. also some ESP or Schecter guitars would kick major ass.

Why is it that whenever people have a suggestion to improve the game, that others assume that they're not satisfied with it? They're not complaining about how crappy the game is. They're just saying "It would be cool if..." There's ALWAYS room for improvement. That doesn't mean I'm complaining. It's just a fact of life.

They'll probably save that for Rock Band 2 (if one's in the works). HMX has seen the ridiculous amount of money we'll all pay for this game (I read a thread last month where some people have paid over $1000 just mod-ing their set and let's not even get into DLC - $1.99 adds up over time), so they're not going to put everything we want into one game. It would be nice to be able to play Smells Like Teen Spirit as Kurt, though.:D

Anyways, I'd be ALL for this too. I'm a sucker for character customization. To be perfectly frank, what real need IS there for a Rock Band 2? There's really no instruments left to add besides maybe a second guitar and what? Keyboards? There's not really any room left on the screen as it is.

HMX had a great idea with Guitar Hero and they PERFECTED it with Rock Band...there's really not much more they can do with the idea in my opinion. Let's see:


Music store is now in place to facilitate ease of content updates.
Constant DLC updates means a steady flow of income, ensuring the game stays profitable nigh-indefinately...at least until the next iteration of game hardware comes around (PS4, XBox 720, whatever)
Future hair/clothes/instruments/character models could be introduced via DLC, which would please a lot of consumers and generate more revenue.
New fans are coming into the game constantly. It's not as if Rock Band is suddenly going to stop shifting copies. Besides, existing bands will need to buy new instruments as their old ones wear out.


Really, they hit gold with this. Rock Band 2 should only come (if at all) when the next generation of hardware comes out, which won't be for at LEAST another two to three years, if then. Until that day, KEEP THE WEEKLY CONTENT COMING!

Yeah there IS a sad lack of basses. As a bass player myself IRL, that was the first thing I looked at when I went into the character creator.

The thing about clothing and guitar packs is that it would have to be a patch, not an optional purchase. You would not be able to display the clothing you bought when you play online with someone who didn't buy it. Sure, they could put some placeholder stuff in there for the other person to see, but it causes more problems then it is worth. I do think we will get it eventually, but I think it will be included with a future patch.

They could do it to where you "unlock" certain clothes when you buy DLC after such a patch. Like buying the Metallica Pack would unlock the Ride the Lightning t-shirt. That way there aren't any of the above mentioned problems.

When they release the KISS pack they are going to secretly include in it the makeup and clothes as well as Gene's Ax shaped bass & Pauls fractured mirror guitar!!
