View Full Version : Music Store Issues

Hello fellow forum members and Harmonix people alike.

Now first off I'd like to say how cool I think the music store is. I like the look and feel of the store and I like the fact that I don't have to exit the game just to get some new tracks.

There is one feature that I simply must point out an annoyance with, however and that is the track preview option. Now please, do not misunderstand. I LOVE being able to actually hear a song before I go ahead and download it. That's fantastic. However, my gripe comes in where I have to listen to the same 30 second clip whenever I download a song, for the entire duration of the download. And I can't back out of the download screen, because that cancels the download, and I have the option to start it again through rockband or go to the market place and start it up again there.

If I'm just missing some way of stopping the preview from playing, then please, let me know. I don't wish to get sick of hearing a song before I've even had a chance to play it. (Right now I just mute the TV)

Thanks for listening.

Have you tried holding down the blue button, X button, or blue pad?

That usually works in Band Quickplay.

Another 'feature' that annoys me is the added tax... at least for the PS3. I already pay the $1.00 per song/pack 'tax' just because I live in Canada (but that's an entirely different complaint) so this means the only thing the store is good for (to me) is to go and check the difficulties of the various songs if they aren't posted on Wikipedia yet.

For some reason a $2.99 song (why must Canadians pay 50% more when our dollar is only 2%ish less?!?!) costs me $3.13 in the PSN store and $3.33 in the Rock Band store. Oh, and the Rock Band store will only allow me to add money to my account in $5.00 increments where as the PSN store will allow me to add however much I'm spending. Finally, I didn't notice any sort of 'add to cart' feature on the Rock Band store (but I might not have been looking close enough, I left pretty quick after I saw the extra $0.20 tax for using it) which means I can only download one song/pack at a time (I usually wait a few weeks between purchases then grab a few). Anyone know why?

Edit: I know the $1.00 Canadian 'tax' is due to the way the PSN store is set up ($1.00 extra for anything sold in Canada, regardless of how much it costs to begin with... $59.99 -> $60.99, $1.99 -> $2.99). Are my other complaints restricted to the PS3 version or is it a larger problem with the Rock Band store?

Nope, unfortunately that didn't do it. Music still plays. On to the next step.

Nothing is inherently "wrong" with it, it is merely inconvenient.

You can't mute your tv or maybe change it to a different channel to watch something while it downloads? Maybe go microwave yourself a hot pocket?

Telling people to mute the tele or go microwave a hot pocket doesnt fix the issue. I agree with him totally. Its annoying as hell that the 360 MAKES you keep the DL blade up or cancels it. Something should be able to toggle the preview feature on/off. But hey, you just keep microwaving your hot pockets, tubby.
