Here's a question to all of you expert drummers, or anybody who just happens to be good at drumming and isn't necessarily an "expert." Forgive me if this has been asked before, because I did use the search function but I gave up after page 5 of 245 :-(

My question is this--> I've noticed that I get better through playing because you see certain beats show up and patterns in different songs over and over or modified to an extent. Some of these patterns are very difficult for me, like on "at the gates" where you have to alternate sticks in rapid succession and if you drop the beat for a fraction of a second you are screwed. So... what are the best songs to play to practice each of the more complicated beats in the game?

Like, for instance, drum rolls? Or how about what songs are best to practice to help you with your limb independence?

What songs give you the best bang for your buck? Is it better to practice slower versions of these beats over and over or is it better to go straight for the hardest and fastest version of the beat? Like, the forementioned RYYRYYRYYRYY from At the Gates, for instance. I know that there are other songs that use a pattern similar but are much easier.

Any advice?

For practicing kick pedal, Vasoline and Epic are good songs to try. Run to the Hills and Ballroom Blitz are good songs for practicing long lines of notes. Maps is a good song for practicing with the kick pedal too.

I'm playing Expert these days but I'm far from being an accomplished drummer in the game. Ones I'd consider good practice (as well as being fairly tough to play generally) would be "Vasoline", "Dead on Arrival" and "Detroit Rock City".

A few others that might encourage you to move your arms around would be "Maps" and "...And Justice for All" if you have it.

cherub rock is a good all around warmup song.
go with the flow or flirtin' with disaster would be good too.
