Sick of reading about Metal fans crying rivers because not all the songs are Metal.
Personally I loathe heavy Metal, I think it's nothing more than hairy satanic morons shouting about depressing suicidal things, murdering people or Satan. The music (if you can call it that) is just bloody noise with the same 4 or 5 chords and punching bass line, it all sounds the bloody same to me!
Emo music, well I have no idea what that is but all music is emotional, Anger, tears, sadness, uplifting etc so to say no emo music is just stupid as it's all emo.
Personally I like many different types of music, U2, The Who, Pink Floyd, Simple minds, Verve, Manics even some Elton "Shirt lifter" John stuff is good. Elvis, Beatles, Stones, Snow Patrol and Dire Straits all get air time too on my PC.
Basically if its a good tune and the lyrics are good then I will give it air time and I think Rockband should encompass all sides of music, yes even though I hate it, they should have some Metal in there to keep them all happy. But please don't assume that Metal is the be all and end all of Rock music, imo it's not even music, it's just noise.
Moral of this post is, Rockband should appeal to all music fans, not just Metal lovers.

In before flaming and lock!
And it depends on which band you're talking about. Megadeth has a message, with complex riffs and intelligable lyrics. So is Metallica.

I agree and at the same time disagree
1) so maybe you don't like metal, but thats you, not all metal is awful with no meaning.
2) I agree people on this forum should be more open to the fact that there are other genres of rock music not just the ones they like, and that Rock Band will indeed have something for everyone

Although I agree 100% about this:

I disagree completely about this:

But hey, everyone is entitled to their opinion. Everyone has their own taste. Mine is similar to yours, except I also LOVE metal!

Very true, I have heard some HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE metal. Can't say I like it all, I am very picky.

*sigh* i hate it when people hear some **** metal band playing and see that as every metal band out there. you know absolutely nothing about the genre if that's what you really think.

i agree with you, but you're looking at this the wrong way. metal fans have yet to be satisfied at all with this setlist. it should appeal to all music fans, and metal is one of them. why are you complaining when the setlist so far is filled with classic rock, punk, alternative, etc.

I don't hate metal- I just wish metal fans would freakin' give something else a try once in a while.

'Tis true, sometimes metal can be very irritating. I myself am extremely picky about the metal I listen to, and probably only like 5% of bands in the whole entire genre (death, black, grindcore etc...). Maybe you just haven't found the right bands for you.

I can live with most of the music in the game, but I ask this much. Throw in a song that will be like Jordan, only for drummers!

Problem is the average person won't commit to trying out metal any further than watching Headbanger's Ball, which is a freakin' awful show.

since apparently this thread is about ranting here's mine :
actually the bigger problem is getting metalheads to enjoy something other than metal. i'm not saying that other genre-addicted people aren't close-minded but walk up to a guy who is in love with slayer and other "extreme " metal and tell him to listen to oh idk elton john, he'll call u a **** and walk away. fact is metalheads are the rudest form of genre-addicted *******s cuz they have neither respect for anything else or for people who listen to different stuff. lol perfect example : if a guy who knows everything there is to know about metal walks into a metalhead hang out place wearing a band shirt that isn't tr00 metullll then he's an outcast. u rarely see that happen outside of metalheadness.

I have to disagree. Being an avid metal fan, I also listen to a lot of classic rock. Including Elton John. As do most metalheads I know. Most metalheads actually have a wide variety of musical tastes, and are VERY understanding of other people's musical tastes. Mainly because they are frowned upon as well for enjoying non mainstream music. I feel confident in saying that you will only be frowned upon if you support mindless corporate machine music. Like most of the music that is played on your top 40 radio station.
I don't doubt your experience with metalheads taht are rude, and disrespectful. But you have to understand that most of those people are not true metalheads. They are probably a bunch of posers joining the metal movement.
Yes, as much as I hate to admit it, metal is starting to become trendy.....
Just take that into consideration. :)

Well, the thread title says New Wave... so this probably means The Cure...and I want The Cure.

I think I get what you are saying. Just because you listen to metal, you don't want to be in the same category as the metalheads that have given you crap. I hate that some random asshats have set the bar for the rest of us. While I am a metalhead, I like to think myself a non-*******. :D

ive been one of the people on this board complaining about no metal but i dont think ive ever seen anyone in any of those posts say rock band should be all metal, simply that it should include some metal. to say metal is just four or five chords is pretty ignorant.
anyways i also want to comment on the people saying metal heads are rude jerks. first off i want to say that most metal heads are not this way. however i do know that some metalheads are that way but i think (could be wrong) that they are that way in a defensive manner. metal is so looked down on by the mainstream listener. i know i cant even tell a girl what type of music i listen to because they will immediately think im crazy and violent and like "depressing suicidal things, murdering people or Satan." pretty much all of my close friends say the same thing as the OP "The music (if you can call it that) is just bloody noise" and whenever i play it in my car my friends start shouting about killing their moms and pretend to cut themselves. anyways my point is that that constant ignorant stereotype can become quite frustrating and rude and id imagine some people would react by lashing out at the people that further that stereotype.
