Just need to have the mic unmuted on the little switch where it connects to the guitar

Don't feel bad. I got my mute turned off and still can't figure it out. I guess I'm a noob too.

Better question - where do you plug the microphone in to the stratocaster?

You plug it into the top curve.....above where the whammy bar is.....there is a very small hole

I have no idea how to use it though. I can use it with the mic and drums but no idea during game play with the guitar.

I don't understand the confusion of "how to use it". You plug it in, you make sure it's not muted, you talk. There's nothing else to it.

If it's not working, then the jack in the guitar might be non-functioning. Or the headset adapter (the little 6" cable) might be bad, but if it works on your drums, then it's probably the jack.

ok if its on the side why is my headset jack is on the bottom next to the strap lock :(

Because you're talking about a different guitar than the Rock Band Stratocaster (the one in the picture above).

The headset jack on the GH3 Les Paul is on the bottom, where you're talking about.
