Not sure if this has been posted or not, but has the thought of having the pitch detection engine detect harmonies in either 3rd UP/DOWN, or 5th UP/DOWN?

I and others that sing tend to do this while having fun and not worrying about the score. I think this would be an awesome feature in an upcoming patch to award those who can do the pitch math in thier heads! :)

Thoughts / Flames / Comments?

Cheers,

-DN

I'm all for it. Seems like it shouldn't be too horribly difficult to do. With certain songs where there are vocal harmonies (Boston's "Peace of Mind" comes to mind, where Brad sings both vocal parts in the studio), I sing my natural part, while the song is looking for the other part. That's pretty punishing on expert, let me tell ya. :)

I'd like to add that I think this would add to the educational value of this game. The game presently does pitch detection for +/- 8va (1 octave), don't see why not for at least a 3rd. This way it can teach + encourage the user to learn more about vocal range, and give those who are more advanced a little bit more freedom.

Since playing the game, I've always envisioned the game award text saying something like "AWESOME HARMONY" if you sustain a part in a 3rd or 5th.

Harmonix, make my dreams come true! :o

Brilliant idea.

I commonly sing a third or even more commonly a fifth as well as the game wants me too, this would be great! (joking, joking, sorry hehe)

Definitely a great, great idea.

Harmonix, add this to your tweak list post E3! This would be a sick feature..... :o

stop bumping your own thread. This "feature" has been mentioned plenty of times before.

Stop bumping the thread. There are many places where just arbitrarily singing a third or a fifth would be out of context and sound terrible. A universal standard of pitch is the point of the game.

I like part of this idea. During some songs with a lot of vocal harmonies, maybe perhaps smaller vocal lines could be added and then the other bandmates could lean in and sing the harmonies for massive points. I can see it happening in Chop Suey! and Panic Attack.
