It's a hell of a lot harder than it sounds. Your foot will naturally move with your hands, which is fine, if the beats don't alternate.

It took a few weeks to finally separate myself, now I'm almost finished with the expert tour.

Heres an idea!

This forum was started to offer CONGRATS to our fellow community member who just made a milestone in his PERSONAL drumming, and to ENCOURAGE him to keep it up, because we have all been there, where we finally beat the bane of our existance (for me it was Reaper).

How about we stop all of this worthless "drums are better" , "no guitars are better", "well, your fat" , "go play a real instrument" crap. Its pointless, they will never see things your way, and no matter how many times you tell me to pick up a real damn instrument, it wont make me enjoy this game less.

Thanks for listening, and great job beating Green Grass. Have fun!

On Drums?? This song is easier then some early tier songs for me. I mean I don't see one hard part in it, it doesn't even seem challenging. What part are people having a hard time with?? Not trying down your accomplishment, but if you can get through Detroit Rock City, DOA and RttH, this is a snooze fest. Now on guitar expert.... Seriously though, what section is hard for people in this song, the fast blue notes??

have you ever tried real drums? its just as real using the RB guitar as it is using the RB drums

The skills involved in RB drumming more closely simulate real drumming. Guitar, not so much.

Virtual guitaring is just about finger coordination and muscle memory pattern recognition. It doesn't even account for shaping, precise picking, or fretboard placement.

Taking two people with no experience playing music, if you take someone who plays RB drums, and then sit them down to a real drum kit, they can actually play songs (basic structures anyway). If you take a RB guitarist and hand him a real guitar, he can only play 5 notes in sequence on the same string.

The only even somewhat tough bits are the offbeat kicks (the structure is like R+B+K and then a single K just after it). But they only appear in two parts of the song if i recall.

Though i understand your point, most actual drummers ive asked went on to say the rockband drums are nothing like the real thing, the best thing either of these RB instruments can teach you towards the real thing is a little bit of coordination.

Real guitar is too serious

Per the requests posted already, this will be my last post on the subject. Reply if you want/need, but I wont reply anymore.

"Nothing like the real thing" is wrong. If this were true then IRL drummers would have no preexisting advantage in playing RB drums. Everything I've heard says this is false. Most of the expert RB drummers (the ones who make the 5* and G* youtube vids are IRL drummers.

It is a very good way to reinforce rudiments such as leg/arm independence and note counting, things that even seasoned drummers have to learn when they start playing.

Guitar is totally different in that it doesnt even teach the most basic fundamentals of playing guitar, all it teaches is finger pattern memory and left/right hand coordination, and while the latter is certainly very key, the way RB teaches it doesnt really translate. Drumming is almost all about coordination between 4 limbs, RB drumming teaches key fundamentals in 3 limb coordination, which is a great start. Guitar doesnt even begin to touch the surface of what it means to play guitar, and I say this as an avid GH fan and decade-plus guitar player.

Good job. I failed that one twice before I got the pattern of the intro. I had [fortunately] never heard the song prior to getting the game. It's a breeze after that. Your next real challenge will probably be Reaper.
