View Full Version : And the Final Encore of Guitar Hero 3 is....

Divine Wings of Tragedy - Symphony X. :(
I've never even heard of it.
Here's what drew me to this conclusion. One of the people that played the game says that " it's a song that I have NEVER seen requested or even talked about in relation to Guitar Hero, I've never even seen a custom for it." Another person that played it says "The name of the final encore? It has to do with Dante's Inferno (and no, it isn't the Iced Earth song bearing the same name)."
So I went to Wikipedia, to the page "Dante and his divine comedy in popular culture." I then look under "music." Symphony X is the only band I've heard of on that list. I then went to Youtube and looked at the song. Clocking in at about 15 minutes with some great guitar work, I think it's safe to say that this is the final encore.
Or "The Devil Went Down To Georgia."

Thanks for putting that video up in HD. I have had a hard time making out some of the note patters watching it on Youtube but it'll be good to know that it will look that good on my TV.
On a side note I remember hearing that Number of the Beast by Iron Maiden was the final encore, I could be wrong, and probably the person who mentioned it is wrong too lol, but I distinctly remember someone pointing that out.

Good for you. Don't turn this into an anti-GH thread when it doesn't have to be.

That was me <.<
It was confirmed as the final tier and the devil was the last boss, so I kinda put 2 and 2 together...
But ImaCarrot, a trustworthy source says that the final encore hasn't been announced.

Never heard of it, but, since it's the final encore, it should be good and challenging, so, I'm excited to play it. Oh, and thanks for posting the DragonForce video. It's always nice to see that video again. :) Thats one of the songs that I'm most excited for. That song is amazing and so is DragonForce! :D

Same, I'm really not impressed with that decision, I'm not a big fan of the final encore being something not many people have heard of. I really have lost almost full interest in GH III.

Oh and here is the song for those of you that don't feel like looking it up on YouTube. It's live and 20 min long or so, the song does not sound that good to me at all, it might be better not live and not on YouTube.

I can guarantee such an unknown song is NOT the final encore.
could be number of the beast, but i think One would be the best fit

and appearantly you didn't look very closely at that wiki page
as Radiohead,Nirvana, Bad Religion, and +44 are all mentioned under music, and are well known.
I'm sure there are a few applicable songs out of those bands that fit the criteria.

I was looking for "Hitler dancing" on Photobucket and I found this wonderful gem towards the end.
Oh, and here's some other possibilities.
Inferno - Symphony X
Tornado of Souls - Megadeth (there was a tornado of souls in the Divine Comedy)
And the Nirvana, Sepultura, Radiohead, and Weezer stuff just has to do with album covers, not the actual songs.

Yeah, that's never come up before.
And if you're referring to the "new" ho/po system, there's absolutely nothing new about it. The only difference is, is in the GH and GH 2 engines, it would automatically make notes close to eachother hammer ons or pulloffs. In GH 3, if it's a HO/PO on the guitar, it'll be a HO/PO in the game. You'll still be able to strum HO/POs, there's nothing different. I promise.

I really don't think that's it. Just think about how bad it'll look if GH 3's final song is by some band most people never heard of compared to RB if they get like Zeppelin or The Doors or some super big famous iconic band/song. Even if it's something already announced like Won't Get Fooled Again or Don't Fear the Reaper. On top of that they don't deserve the last song. Sabbath,Stones,GnR,Metallica,Maiden...and Symphony X gets the last encore?

09-04-2007, 12:23 AM
See, this makes no sense at all. And there's still no sauce. That first post never mentioned anything about Symphony X in the scorehero thread. I didn't read other posts, but the main one was what was important.
And lets think about it. Nobody's really heard of this band, and its a final encore. Hell, if that sounds right, then why didn't they make Dragonforce the final encore or something. That would of made more sense since alot of people either love or hate DF. Atleast people've heard of that band.

Guys, sorry to burst your bubble, but I'm almost positive the last song is (duh...) Number Of The Beast. Think about it. 666? C'mon people, you're in a Rock Band forum! You gotta show us proud and do some investigative work! Speaking of which, if you'll take a look here... > http://www.achieve360points.com/game/guitarheroiii/ < that's the only song with a specific achievement that is not a bonus track. So it's obviously decently important. Gimme SOME credit here, because you know I'm right. Righter than you are at least ;)
Edit: Oh, and, the 2 minute solo makes it even more obvious. Everyone knows Maiden has been waiting for that final encore slot. Here's their chance.
Edit #2: Nobody really knew Extreme either, unless you grew up in the 80's. I only honestly knew it because when I found out it was the alst encore I downloadid it to itunes.

I would have tended to agree with you, but the problem now is that someone who played the game has announced that the final song is one that hasn't been announced yet, has never been made into a custom, and has rarely (if at all) been brought up in reference to Guitar Hero. Unless of course, that someone is lying. Doubtful, but possible, I suppose.

Where did you hear that? I read the scorehero post and he only said, "My favorite song in the final tier is one that hasn't been announced yet". He didn't specify what the final song was or if it had been announced or not.

He also said that the final song has never been requested, and never had a custom (and I've seen the number of the Beast custom on Youtube). Read the entire thread. I even quoted it in the original post of this thread.

Nope there's a custom for that.
I was thinking Tornado of Souls or Holy Wars after reading about the Dante's Inferno stuff but those have been requested. Maybe it's something from Devil May Cry,they did say the 3rd hero was fictional and Capcom has lent out Dante before.

Here's some more stuff fresh from the rumormill, Tornado of Souls IS the final encore, and Vic Rattlehead is the final boss. Although, this is very unlikely because this was posted by a complete jackass.

Be even better if you finish the last song and it says
"Your fans are calling for an encore. They want you to play Stairway to Heaven. Y/N?"
"**** yeah!"
"ARE YOU SURE??"
"**** yes I'm sure! LED ZEP!!"
"Get ready to rock!"

Even better:
"We're no strangers to looooove. You know the rules, and so-do-I!"
And you know what? Stairway would be an AWESOME final encore for GH 3. The final venue is based on hell, and to leave, you would play Stairway to HEAVEN. And it would be both ironic and awesome if you finished a tier of face-meltingly fast and difficult songs with a song as easy as Stairway. Difficulty is a nonissue. Bark at the Moon was easier than Cowboys from Hell, and Hangar 18 was harder than Freebird.
