While discussing modding my drums with my father today, he actually came up with a very good idea for cheaply modding the drum sticks. Its so cheap that it may actually even be free to many of you. Ladies and gentleman, I present to you the Eye Dropper Mod.

I pulled the rubber tip off of an old eye dropper in the medicine cabinet today and stuck it to my drum stick. Not only did it fit perfectly but the thick rubber rim keeps the dropper on the drum stick without any movement during gameplay at all. I tested this out while playing Timmy & the Lords of the Underworld, Bang a Gong, and I Get By on hard. The tips didn't move what so ever.
I went to CVS and bought a two pack of eye droppers for $1.99 and pitched the glass tubes. Now these tips had a bit thinner rubber and required a bit of cutting to get them to fit. Even though a little effort was involved, it still works pretty well.

Now do not expect this mod to be the solution to all of your problems. It quiets drumming by maybe 30%, but I swear it made my drumming more accurate due to the added weight and extra bounce included with the mod. Many of you guys will probably have old eye droppers laying around the house, so you can give this a try without spending a dime. The one I had inside my house fit perfectly without any cutting, included thick rubber, and seems to be more quiet than the CVS ones. You may even be able to hit up another drug store and pick up better droppers with thicker rubber. Give it a shot.
