View Full Version : Harmonix lies!

It's true! What did Harmonix say when first asked if a Wii version of Rock Band would be made?

"We will, at some time, bring Rock Band to every [important] platform," Rigopulos said. He added that Harmonix would optimize future versions of Rock Band to fit the strengths of the platform. "I think the Wiimote is something that holds enormous promise."

Yet we end up getting a late port of the lousy PS2 version. I just don't understand why they couldn't get some more features in. Online could be in, DLC could be in (Nintendo's "Pay-to-Play" service, used in Japanese WiiWare games already), and more, yet we get none of this. Mii support would have been awesome, but instead EA/Harmonix is looking for a quick cash-in on this one. It sucks. I now I'm not buying it unless something changes.

Sort of on that, I think the most they really could have done with the Wiimote was make the instruments wireless. In addition, if that was the case, those that don't have all 4 Wiimotes would have to purchase more.

As far as DLC goes, I don't know why that's not included when it could be an easy fix. That's one area I wish the Wii excelled in, was the DLC. A lot could be done regarding it's current stock of games (think of the potential for games like Brawl!) I think a large part of the DLC decision is probably on Nintendo's end too, and not necessarily Harmonix being lazy about converting songs and charting for another console too.

"I think the Wiimote is something that holds enormous promise."

How the hell does that make them liars? Does that statement say they are going to use Wiimotes? No. It says they think they "hold enormous promise." DLC is Nintendo's deal, ***** at them about it. Wii is only important because it has outsold any other console the last couple years. As far as optimizing Rock Band for the Wii... what do you expect? The Wii doesn't have the horsepower that the other current gen consoles have. Of course you're not going to be able to do everything on it that you can do on a 360 or PS3.

You don't like it... buy another console.

Perfect idea OP, lets blame HMX for RB not having all the features of its 360/PS3 counterparts on the PS2/wii. In fact lets blame them for the systems not being powerful enough, not having DLC, or having online

Dude you rely on enjoying games basically on a system that cant even produce ps2 graphics. Only thing Wii has that makes it "next gen" is the fact it uses a remote. I am no Wii hater as i own one, but that is not the system i use to play great games like rock band. You need to upgrade to a 360 or ps3 to really enjoy this game.

Another thing i notice with this Wii crap. None of the Wii people seem to not care about ONLINE VOICE CHAT!!! You want everything the 360 got, but you payed for a cheap system. Nintendo does not care about online gaming lmao. The sooner the american public understand this the more you can realize why nintendo does not care about american based emails. If not 1 person from any country from japan bought and supported Wii.. Well nintendo would still be a top selling console. Japan does not need america to be successful. Be happy when they add anything online.

Maybe you should ask Nintendo why Harmonix couldn't get more features in? The PS2 version of RB isn't as great because that's all the PS2 is capable of. The PS2 has limitations that the PS3 doesn't, thus why the PS3 version is so much better.

So now keep that in mind about the Wii. Now you now the Wii is actually no better than a PS2 in what it's capable of and why it virtually got the same version of RB as the PS2 did. Read the reply right above mine, he's right. Get a real gaming system. The Wii is meant for little 7 year olds with it's kiddie games and graphics, and old people.

Your question has been answered, it's not Harmonix's fault, they did the best they could with the limitations of that system.

I hate to turn this into a full blown console war, which is already what it is becoming, but I know that on my 360, I never use Voice Chat in Rock Band. I'm too into the game to worry about talking, especially to people I don't know.

Furthermore, consider the Wii's games. They aren't necessarily big multiplayer games. Brawl and Mario Party are the biggest ones, and at that, they're party games that are meant for close proximity playing. Not necessarily online, and you don't need to chat in them really.

Also, about the graphics. Once again, graphics don't make a console "great". Just because a console has great graphics and it's games suck, doesn't make it great. Look at the PS3. So many of it's games DO suck. It's graphics can't redeem it. The 360 still tops it.

I think the only time PS3 users and Xbox 360 users unite is to tell Wii-tards to f off! ;)

Well that and being able to use a better looking version of master chief on UT3 lmao. How hilarious is it to be able to use marcus fenix and master chief on ps3? I personally think its a nice slap in 360 players faces. Yet then again i could care less since i am not bias on any system. Still pretty sweet stuff though, and very nerdy lol.

Is this thread really necessary?

Harmonix never lied, they just came to the conclusion that a next gen game is extremely hard to port to a less superior(technology wise) console who's ONLY attractive feature is a motion sensor wiimote. Take that away from the Wii, and you have a pretty pathetic console.

I have to agree that not much should be expected of the Wii version of Rock Band; we all knew early on that the Wii wasn't exactly a "next generation" console especially in comparison to the PS3 and 360. Nintendo has done a great job capitalizing on the gimmick that is the "Wii-mote", but can you really expect it to run right alongside the PS3 and 360?

Also, I love how the guy who said he didn't want to start a console war very quickly bashed the Wii and then said that PS3 games suck and that 360 is at the top of the heap. Way to go, guy.

Wiimote is a bad idea anyway, as is wireless. If you have four instruments that each need 2 AA batteries, it'll cost you 5-10 dollars per month to keep them going. Hopefully li-ion batteries continue to drop in price so they can be realistically implemented into things like this :)

Your last couple sentances are a matter of opinion that I'll respect as you must obviously be a 360 owner. I am a PS3 owner and for what you get for the money, I'd never own a 360. Graphics are equal at this point but the PS3 is still a new comer to the playing field and is still in the growing process that the 360 has had 3 year head start on. Out of the gate the PS3 as equal graphics on it's 'crappy' games so just know that the only direction from here is even better. As time goes on the only way MS can compete with graphics and features and the raw power of the system it to build a new system of their own. Bigger game selection is about all you have at this point that "tops it" but with your own fair share of crappy games for your system.

Do you like having to pay to play online? Not only that but the same games that I get to play online for free? You have to pay monthly fees to access downloadable content like movie trailers, game trailers, game demos, don't you? I get acces to all that same content too, but for free. Can you web browse on a 360? Since HD-DVD has totally bombed, getting HD-DVD movies for your system is kind of hard isn't it? Not to mention being able to watch HD movies on a 360 is a add-on piece of hardware but with a PS3 it's built in. Does a 360 have an online virtual world like Home will be for the PS3, that will also be free? Does MS make a hand held gaming system that can remotely interact with it's system like the PSP can with the PS3 from any wireless hot spot in the world? How is that red ring of death issue comeing along with you guys?

I'm sorry, how does the 360 top the PS3 again???
