I am considering getting this, but I am not sure which to get. I have heard the PS3 version has the cordless guitar. Which has the better DL content..or is it the same on both? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

dlc is all the same unless you have the february oxm disc...
just get it for the system you have more friends online to play it with, they are the same on each system

PS3 has a wireless guitar, 360 has a wired guitar.
Both have the same DLC, But if you can snag that OXM cd that's been going around the 360 has 3 extra songs (only 1 of them is worth it - Bang Camaro ftw -)
The 360 usually gets the DLC a few days before the PS3. Also, if you wanted to use a Xplorer or Les Paul guitar as a bass or guitar for RB you can, on PS3 it won't allow you to use the LP controller.
Now then, what I suggest is you get the system that suits you. If you're heavy into online gaming and such, go with the 360. If you prefer media features over that, go with the PS3. You also might want to consider which console your friends have the most, you don't want to go off and buy a 360 when a majority of your friends have PS3s. That is, unless you don't like gaming with your friends :P
EDIT: Wow I read this completely wrong... lol I thought you were asking for which system.
Anyways, as far as which system to get it for... just read above ^
Like I said,
PS3 = No LP, You get a wireless guitar, You don't get 3 extra songs, your DLC arrives late
360 = You can use the xplorer or LP, you get 3 extra songs (IF YOU CAN GET THE DISC), and your DLC comes earlier.
Stated above I would still say go with whatever your friends have it for. If more have the PS3 version, get that. More have the 360 version, get that.
As for this post sounding like I'm pro 360 or something, I'm not. I enjoy all consoles. I can't help it that the 360 has more benefits than the PS3 version.

Get it for whatever console you have. If you have both, it pretty much comes down to how much you like wireless guitar controllers. The 360 version has extra DLC thanks to the OXM disc, better guitar compatibility (Guitar Hero controllers work with it), and you can talk to people.

Actually, the Freezepop song is great too. IMO it's better than the one naturally on the game. The Count Zero song is alright... but for me the main reason it's worth it is Freezepop and Bang Camaro.

Actually, that's how these threads almost always turn.
I heart the PS3 gamers too. We're all Rock Band fans, after all! I wish PSN and Live gamers could cross networks, as it were, and play together, but sadly that will never come to be.

I personally have a PS3 and would always recommend the version of the game to anybody, but I'm sure that they are way more people playing the 360 version compared to the PS3 one, so more people to play against online would probably be a selling point.

Reasons to get it for 360:
Achievements
Better online play (voice, friends list, more people online, etc.)
3 exclusive OXM tracks
DLC released two days earlier than on PS3
EDIT: More compatibility with previous GH guitars
Reasons to get it for PS3:
Wireless guitar
No DRM on the DLC (This is a HUGE selling point.)
EDIT: Free online play! (And you get what you pay for.)

Really it comes down to what kind of guitar controller you prefer. If you like the RedOctane peripherals with the clicky strumbar and the quieter fret buttons, get the 360 version, that is, if you don't mind your game room/living room/private stage looking like the Cord Jungle (which I guess, all things considered, is more realistic, but you're playing with a plastic guitar-shaped-object, how realistic can it be?). You can use Xplorers and Les Pauls with the 360 version. Now, if you're into fewer wires and a silent strumbar and clicky fret buttons, go with the PS3. As far as I know, the guitar controller compatibility didn't quite shake out the way Harmonix expected with the PS3, so Les Paul controllers aren't compatible.
As far as DLC goes, all the DLC is the same save for a disc that came with OXM in February that has a Bang Camaro song, a Freezepop song, and a Count Zero song, but these days it's hard to get your hands on so I really wouldn't worry about it. 360 players get their DLC on Tuesdays, while the PS3 folks get it on... I think it's Thursday? Anyway, it doesn't seem like a big deal until they release that song you absolutely loooooove~ and have been wanting to play on Rock Band before Rock Band was even formulated as an idea, and you get it two days late. It wouldn't be so huge, I guess, you've got until the next round of consoles comes out to play this game, so what's two days in the long run?
Anyway, hope I've been helpful.

Personally I have it for PS3 and wish I had the 360 version (i have both systems). I got a PS3 and Guitar Hero III for Christmas, so when I decided to get Rock Band I got it for the PS3 as well because of the wireless guitar and the fact that I'd be able to use the Frontman guitar that's coming out soon for both RB and GHIII.
But, I'd rather have the 360 version because of a better online experience, the Les Paul and the Xplorer work for Rock Band and the DLC comes out earlier and you can use microsoft points instead of using a credit card. Still the games is pretty much the same for both systems so either way you'll enjoy it the same.

Yes, Yes. But it's not going to strike you every new console you get 2 weeks after you get it. In some cases the RROD is actually self inflicted due to not shutting off your console correctly.

You kinda missed one. PS3'ers also don't have to pay to play online. Oh yeah, and as a product it happens to be significantly more reliable than your average 360 system.
Comparatively, the biggest issue facing the ps3 version is arguably the lack of online chat, but I'd be willing to bet that the majority of people who have home internet access have a computer at home anyway, and setting up a Skype account is a snap.
Ultimately though, the 360 version of this game is where it's at. The ps3 version of the game feels like it's just a cheap and nasty port. The latest patch, for example, was supposed to speed up the loading of additional content but it actually slows it down on the ps3. I'd be willing to bet the average feature added to the game is perfected on the 360 and then makes it over to the ps3 via a lot of "copy and paste" techniques.
Buy it for the 360. So long as your console doesn't die, and you're happy to pay to play online, you'll be as happy as a pig in sh|t.

The 'correct' way to turn them off (from what a few reports say), is to go to the Dashboard, take out your game, close the disc tray, then press the power button. Course, taking out the game is too much work for me, as I don't like to scratch my CDs. So I just always exit to the dashboard and wait at least 3 seconds before turning it off. I also try not to play constantly for more than 7 hours. (Course, that'll blow away with Dead Rising's 7 Day Survivor achievement.)

I don't think it really matters if you've already got both systems.
Can use your own hard drive with PS3 and getting DLC 2 days later isn't bad if you want to see vids first.
If you don't have either system and your main reason is RB I'd say go with PS3. I'd explain why but apprently that vaild and logic reasoning is attempting to start a console war. (Despite clearly having both systems )

2 of them use external hard drives to transfer saves but you really just need a USB drive.
To add something about a previously missed post, people have had 360's RROD right out of the box so yes it could break within 2 weeks.

If you already have both systems get the Xbox360 version. It has 3 more songs, ingame online voice-chat, compatibility with GH controllers, achievements, no graphical glitches during loading screens, DLC two days earlier, and more players online.
If you don't have either system yet, I would (and did) buy the PS3 version. The PS3 has more features for nongamers (blu-ray) than the Xbox360 and if you haven't already got an Xbox360, you're probably not much of a gamer (or at least not into the types of games available on the 360).
If you have one of the systems already, get the version for the system you have.
As far as wireless controllers are concerned (the most compelling reason to get the PS3 version if you already have both systems), Xbox360 sort of negates the wireless controllers by being compatible with the wireless Les Paul. Also, wireless Strats for the Xbox360 will be available in April.
With respect to DRM, it really only effects you if you're trying to share your DLC with friends or have to replace your console. One of which you shouldn't do, and the other of which you probably won't have to do (I think the RRoD problem is mostly resolved by now).

I have the ps3 version and am more than happy with it, but first one about the reliability issue.
After about a week or two of owning my ps3 I woke up one morning to find it frozen on a screen, I forget which. So I tried turning it off at the power button (a lovely touch sensor instead of a clunky tonka toy button, but I digress) and it wouldn't work. SO I switch it off at the psu. When I turn it back on it works fine, except the optical drive doesn't work. This is annoying, all my demos and the such work fine but without the games it's somewhat lacking. It was a saturday so I called sony and they ran me through formatting the system and so on and so forth. By the time I was done the problem wasn't fixed but we were agreed it needed an RMA.
On monday I called to arrange the RMA.
On tuesday a man arrived at my door and left a note because nobody was home.
On wednesday the man arrived again with a working ps3 which I swapped for my own. Within an hour I had all my DLC redownloaded and was rocking away.
As for the rest of it.
I enjoy playing tug of war online, though I admit it can be a bit of a free for all and you never know what kind of player you'll get. That said, i seem to constantly see xbox players *****ing about the kinds of people they meet online and I can't help but think that maybe the voice chat isn't all it's cracked up to be. I'm sure we ps3ers will find out soon enough (heck, home will probably come out before rockband does in europe).
As for the being able to transfer DLC freely, I've already shown where it's useful, but I can also imagine it being useful in other situations. If, for instance, we had a ps3 in my student accomodation and I had one back home then I could have my DLC loaded on bot and not have to worry about carting around a hard drive or anything. Same situation if I go to play at a friends house. If I were going to a party i wouldn't expect him to have all my music, i'd bring it with me (or stream it these days) so why should DLC be any different. Similarly if you have a friend online and you want to play DLC then you can quite easily play DLC by having them download it too. It's a lovely system and this anti-piracy culture has got people thinking it's a bad thing when, i would hope, it's exactly the sort of thing Sony and HMX had in mind when they came up with the system.
The wireless guitars are just nice, nothing worse than being tethered to a console if you can help it. i don't mind with the drums because I sit pretty close and the cable on the mic is huge, but for the guitar you wanna be swapping it round and jumping all over the place, the cable's just no fun.
Also, perhaps a bit terrible of me, but frankly. Whenever I see somebody being an A-hole on the forums, they're always 360 owners. Maybe I've had a selective memory about it and I'd hate to suggest that it says something about the kind of people 360 owners are, but it might just say something about the kind of console A-holes buy

Six of one, half dozen of another so to speak. There is really no difference between the 2 versions.
If anything Id say the scale tips slightly in favor of the 360 for two reasons. Reason 1 is there are a lot more 360 Rock Band games in circulation (almost double) so you will find more people to play with on 360, and reason 2 only comes into play if you have a GH2 or GH3 guitar, and that is that youll have to buy 2 Stratocasters to play on the PS3, whereas you can use one of your old guitar hero guitars to play on the 360.
As far as content and performance though, theyre pretty much the same other than having to wait until Thursday for the DLC for PS3 that 360 users get Tuesday.

Well I am not sure why anybody would buy the 360! HD dvd is pretty much on the way out and all is going blue ray which 360 does not have. Also the speed and graphics of the PS3 are better also. I am not sure why you were ever think of buying a console that isn't the best!
I love my PS3, but if you are kinda poor and can't afford a real console then you have to do what you can!
:D
Heres my take on the whole 360/PS3 version debate
Xbox 360 Pros
Superior online play via xbox live for a nominal fee
DLC gets released earlier
x-plorer support
OXM disc bonus songs
Xbox 360 Cons
Hardware reliability isnt that great (console)
when/if you send your console back you MUST be signed into xbox live to use any downloadable content you have purchased (dealbreaker)
Playstation 3 Pros
Good reliable hardware
The best blu-ray disc player on the market currently
Flexible downloadable content management
Wireless guitars
Playstation 3 Cons
online play isnt as robust as the 360 version
no 1080i/p support
DLC released later in the week

Its important to note that isnt entirely accurate. You will have to be signed into XBL to use your DLC only while you wait for them to reassign your DLC to your new 360s serial number, which they will do, and usually takes 2-3 weeks.
Also thats only the case if they send you a brand new 360 when you send yours in, which isnt always the case, very often you get your old one repaired and returned to you, in which case you dont have to get the DLC reassigned at all.
Just wanted to make sure that is understood, as I can see it being a deal breaker the way Zidd explains it, but since he wasnt entirely correct in reality its not that huge a deal.

TAC's got one coming out next month that looks promising. It remains to be seen if it will actually work. I'd rather spend $20 on an adapter that will also let me play GH1, 2, and 80s on my ps3 than $60 on another guitar. I already have four plastic toy guitars - I don't think I need another one ;)

I'd recommend the PS3 version for one very simple reason: DRM.
If you're going to spend money on downloadable songs you owe it to yourself to purchase the PS3 version. As a consumer, you have better rights in regards to your digital purchase on the PS3 than you'll ever have with the Xbox 360.
Given the facts of the lack of reability regarding the Xbox 360 hardware, your money is better spent on the PS3 version of Rock Band.
Note: I own all three current generation consoles and I hate them all equally except for the DRM. Sony wins that contest hands down.
