I read in the n00b guide that you can adjust your vocals, but can you adjust the master vocals and/or turn them off completely?
Also, will you be able to choose ryhthm/lead/bass for any song or will it only allow rhythm or bass for certain songs like GH2.
I'm sure bass is kewl and all for some folks but bleh...bass is like the last kid picked for the team in gym class.

Bass is wicked awesome on some songs...just like in GH2...Won't Get Fooled Again for one...Bass is way more fun than the guitar IMO

For the vocals thing, I believe that when you increase/decrease your vocals, it will decrease/increase the master vocals. So, if you decide to turn your's all the way down, it will only play the master, but if you turn your's all the way up, it will not play the master.
And like PsycoCheerio said, bass is awesome on some songs. Won't Get Fooled Again and Tom Sawyer, just to name a few.

I thought it was just lead or bass...did they show or mention rhythm somewhere?

Nope, they've never mentioned Rhythm, it's always Bass.

Are you sure? I just assumed it would depend on the song, like GH2. If a song has heavy, noticeable rythm part, they they would have to make it rythm instead of bass. Like Gimme Shelter or Enter Sandman...

Nope, we've seen videos where vocals and master are at a similar volume and there's one particular video (the only one I've seen with this feature) at PAX where the master is completely off. The game most likely offer completely independent volume control for player and master vocals.

I wish they would that, but I don't think it's gonna happen. No videos we've seen so far show anything but bass.

I really hope thats not the case. As I said, I'm sure alot of people enjoy bass but shouldnt there be an option for the people who dont? Especially with album downloads like Metallica, most of their songs are so great because of all the catchy rhythms and Kirk's sick leads. You don't remember a song because of the bass.

First of all, they don't have to do anything like that.
Secondly, have you even listened to Gimme Shelter? It's got a way better bass line than 2nd guitar.

1) No
2) Cliff Burton. I don't even like Metallica, and I know that he had good bass lines.
3) What kind of music do you listen to where the bass isn't interesting?
I've noticed the people who say "I want more Metal" are the same saying "Bass is boring". Who's fault is that, now?

I said some bass is boring. I did'nt specifically ask for more metal either. I just gave an example of how good playing rhythm AND lead could be. By all means, if Harmonix or MTV or whoever would see fit to grace us with some older Metallica when Cliff was still with them, I would be more than happy to play bass. I'll replay Anesthetia all day long on the bass! I'm just saying the option would be great. Do you really wanna get stuck playing bass to just ANY song? I don't.

I understand where you are coming from, however, Metallica does have several songs where the bass really drives the song:
Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth) :p
For Whom the Bell Tolls
Orion
My Friend of Misery
The God That Failed
King Nothing
The Outlaw Torn
Also some of their older stuff (Cliff Burton era) has some real cool bass lines under the main guitar parts (The Call of Ktulu for example). Most Metallica songs that have the bass driving the songs seem to be from the Load/ReLoad era.

Yes.
I'm also using the assumption that the songs that they pick will be at least somewhat interesting on bass. Although, with the YYYs, apparently they don't have a bassist, so who knows if it's a valid assumption.
Really, the only song that I'd rather play 2nd guitar than bass on from either RB or GH2/3 is maybe Jessica.
If they do switch to do rhythm guitar, and I've said this before, they have to lose the 6x multiplier. There's to rationale for it on rhythm, and bass already gets no respect as is.
