I could have made this post with a lot of thought and listed a bunch of junk but im to lazy, just wanted to point out that there is a ton of similarities between the song selection on GH, GH2, GH80's, G3, and Rockband. Alot of the songs and or bands that have been on the Grand Theft Auto Series have found there way to said games.
I was wondering with this type of reasoning if it would help guessing what other future songs will be that have yet to be announced.
Like in the soundtrack for I think Vice City Stories for PSP, they have Ted Nugent- Stranglehold, and I have been DIEING to see that song on anything, especially Rockband, that would be awesome. But yea like I said Im lazy and I should have listed all the soundtracks from all the GTA games and the songs that are on GH's, and Rockband. Then we could see what possible songs/Bands could be on Rockband.

I think that it reflects which labels/bands are willing to have their songs in a game. But, since the music industry seems to be warming up to the game industry, I wouldn't use past uses as a basis for future uses.
Always fun to speculate though.

Out of curosity I took a quick scan on the Wikipedia pages for GTA.
GTA: Vice City
Twisted Sister - "I Wanna Rock"
Ozzy Osbourne - "Bark At The Moon"
Anthrax - "Madhouse"
Judas Priest - "You've Got Another Thing Comin'"
A Flock of Seagulls - "I Ran (So Far Away)"
GTA: San Andreas
Foghat - "Slow Ride"
Heart - "Barracuda"
Kiss - "Strutter"
Lynyrd Skynyrd - "Free Bird"
Danzig - "Mother"
Living Colour - "Cult of Personality"
Guns N' Roses - "Welcome to the Jungle"
Rage Against the Machine - "Killing in the Name"
Alice in Chains - "Them Bones"
Helmet - "Unsung"
GTA: Vice City Stories
Dio - "Holy Diver"
Scorpions - "Rock You Like a Hurricane"
Ratt - "Round and Round"
Quiet Riot - "Metal Health (Bang Your Head)"
Judas Priest - "Electric Eye"
I might have missed a few here and there, but it gives you a good idea how many songs have appeared in each franchise.

I was wondering when someone else was going to notice this connection.
You can bet that GTA 4 will have a lot of music from Rock Band / GH III and vice versa.

Or it could just be that these songs are easier to license for whatever reason; the people holding the license are more open to negotiation for games, or whatever.

Yeah, I've been wondering about this, too. About half the damn GH setlist is in GTA.

San Andreas had Midlife Crisis, and Rock Band has Epic.

or it could be something as simple and logical as this
Or it could just be that these songs are easier to license for whatever reason; the people holding the license are more open to negotiation for games, or whatever.

Wow, sorry. One of the topics was band similarities between GTA and Rock Band/GH; I was just pointing out one that hadn't been mentioned.

The whole point of this, is to merely point out the fact, yes, they are probably easier to license, but the fact that if they have been license before in the GTA series, then with that logic, they can most likely be found on the newest RB or GH series, therefore, giving us greater speculation on what band/song is going to be announced next or what songs/band could be available in the future, for example like I said previously.
The fact that "Stranglehold-Ted Nugent" was on Liberty City Stories, gives me an idea that it would very well be one of the unannounced songs in Rockband, since its already been license by GTA and it would fit perfect in the song selection for Rockband. heres to hoping.

and the whole Faith No More was in GTA and now they are in Rockband is the kind of thinking I had when I saw the announcement of Epic in RB. I mean heck if FNM is in GTA why not RB? I was hoping that we could get some FNM in RB.
