Rock Band Wii is so far disappointing with it being a PS2 port and all, but lets look at the bright side! Wii get 5 bonus songs! YAY! These better be 5 of the best songs ever made, and should be exclusive to Wii (some of them at least, meaning not DLC) , it'll make me feel better that way lol. Anyway, what 5 songs would you want?
1. Renegade by Styx - It's got great vocals (a 40 second intro of just drum bass and vocals) awesome guitar with a sweet solo and is overall a good pick for this game. I'd love to see it in here!
2. Juke Box Hero by Foreigner - Yeah, its already DLC for 360/PS3, so why couldn't Wii have it? Its a great song and loads of fun, I hope we see it on here.
3. Highway to Hell by ACDC - I know, ACDC is being stuborn about licensing there music, but if the Wii had this song what an upper-hand that would be! It's awesome! So lets hope we get something from these gods of rock.
4. Sweet Home Alabama by Lynyrd Skynyrd - The 360/PS3 already have Gimme Three Steps and are soon getting Simple Man as DLC, so give us whats considered there best hit, Sweet Home Alabama! It's just a classic in every essence, I'd love to play it. (I'd also like LS's version of Call me the Breeze, either one would be awesome!)
5. Smokin' by Boston - Another song thats available for download on PS3/360, that I would love to have. I hope it makes it on this fab five list of bonus songs!
Now tell me what you guys want? (Yes, I understand these are all classic rocks songs. What cal I say, I'm a sucker for the classics!)

I don't mind wii getting them for free on disc, same with the euro disc, but not having them as dlc is just wrong
I still can't figure out why they did it for the oxm disc

I don't know whats worse:
A. Mono version of Rockband for the Wii
B. Cruddy Last Gen visuals
C. Lack of Downloadable Content
I think the answer has to be C. Why? Only 63 songs for the Wii version? I have over 100 for the 360 with me planning on buying whatever modern rock and alternative that is released in the future. Can the Wii owners say that? NOPE. I already have more than 40 songs more than the Wii Version. And since you have 4 DIFFERENT WAYS of playing 1 song, then technically I already have 160 REASONS why the Wii's last gen approach to Hardware and online infrastucture blow.

i will aguarentte those 5 songs arent from big name groups, rather itll be m,ore maronix bands, like Count Zero or Monkey Steals the Peach or something.
Ill be pissed as hell though if its a Song by the Slip. Even Rats in GH1 is probably my favorite song to play out of all these guitar controller music based games

i think the wii version extra 5 songs will be like the bonus tracks in the game, bands you've never heard of.

Ok,
1. This topic was intended for Wii owners, not biased 360 *****s,
2. Rock Band for Wii isn't mono-only, and the visuals are actually pretty good (according to PS2 version)
3. Yeah, lack of DLC sucks, but thats not my fault. Nintendo has a "Pay-to-Play" downloadable service available, Harmonix isn't using it. Who's fault is that?
Anyway, wheres the song suggestions, as this topic was intended for.

I wouldn't trust your guarantee, being that the Euro release is getting big bands for its exclusive content so there's no reason to assume the wii wouldn't get the same
I can understand Wii owners being upset about getting a PS2 port, but exclusivity is bullsh*t.
Why does Xbox only get OXM discs? Make them available to purchase in PS mag, or DLC on both systems.
Why does Euro only get 3 exclusive tracks from euro bands, I best THOUSANDS of us would LOVE Hysteria by Muse, sick bassline through out, awesome guitar (non hammer on) solo, and obviously Dominic Howard... pimppppp.
Why should WII get bonus tracks for any reason? What delayed release? "We feel bad so we'll hook you up" ?? That's stupid.
Things like this just kind of rub me the wrong way. We all love rock band, we all like to play, we all should be able to enjoy the same songs/note charts/bands as any other system owner. Making things exclusive creates jealous and frustration.
I feel bad for non 360 owners because Rock Reb, Sprode, and Shake are AWESOME songs. I'm sure if it wasn't exclusively in a mag, more people would have them too...

Did they even say 5 NEW songs? I thought they just said 5 additional songs which could very well mean they get 5 of the songs that are already DLC. I suppose they could let Wii owners vote on current DLC. Might make them less upset.

If it is in fact 5 dlc songs, im going for those buying it on the wii that its Working Man, Peace of Mind, My Iron Lung, Shockwave, and NIB. those are probably my favorite DLC songs:P

HMX isn't using Nintendo's pay-to-play service because Nintendo's online is still terrible, and there is still nowhere to store more then ten songs. Even if the wii had DLC you would have to continually delete and redownload songs whenever you wanted to play different ones. If the DLC issue really bothers you, just buy a console that has a DLC scheme designed by people who know how to use the internet.
I'm guessing that the 5 songs will be a mix, something like:
COUNT ZERO- SHAKE
There's a good chance that at least one or two songs will be bonus tracks from HMX bands, and as CZ wasn't on disc and Shake is already coded this song stands a good chance.
WOLFMOTHER- JOKER AND THE THIEF
It's a difficult, interesting (though slightly repetitive) song that is a fairly popular download AND a master. It's from a well-know modern band.
MONKEES- LAST TRAIN TO CLARKESVILLE
Go to your 360 or PS3 and count the number of 1960s songs on the disc. Now subtract songs released in the last month and a half of the decade. That's a pretty big zero, isn't it?
GRATEFUL DEAD- FRANKLIN'S TOWER
The Grateful Dead licensed a ****ton of songs for this game, but aren't even on disc. The pack has proven fairly popular, so it makes sense that we'd see a dead song on disc at last. They could include China Cat instead and use that to help fill out the '60s.
MUSE- HYSTERIA
Not by an artist that's on disc, it's an incredibly popular song and highly requested. It'll even be on disc in Europe, so the chart will already be there.
BLACK TIDE- SHOCKWAVE
Might be more likely then Joker and the Thief. It's a metal track, it's really popular, it's fun, and it seems to have been cheaper to license.

i read a huge thread aout the Wii version. it really made it clear that the Wii is not a next gen system, so it doesn't get the features on ps3/xbox. that fact really ticked off the Wii owner. he then compared his computer to our next gen systems. what a joke. anyhow, five bonus song may be their attempt to say sorry

I think the wii bonus songs will be similar to the bonus songs the 360 version of GHII got. Kinda sucks, I have the 360 version, but I hope they are good songs. Though five songs probably won't be enough to make me buy the game again.

I'm sorry if I offended any Wii owners. But knowledge is power and it's best if you guys knew what you were getting. Sure, I was joking about the whole Mono thing (Guitar Hero 3 on the Wii was really released with MONO sound? Who's idea was that?).
The way I view the Next Gen is through Downloadable Content. What makes games like Rockband or CoD4 so amazing? You can ALWAYS keep adding to the game you bought to keep it from getting stale! Gears of War saw some new FREE MAPS given made for online multiplayer and RockBand's DLC is probably better than what came on the disc. Best part is, YOU get to pick and choose what to put into the game. Anything made before the 80s doesn't go into my RockBand if I had the choice. Future Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Korn, 30 Seconds to Mars, Deftones, NineInchNails, and *gasp* Harmonex Group songs are what I'm looking forward to.
This is something that Wii owners will be missing out on: Looking forward to adding new experiences and replayability to their games.
So, if You're a Wii owner reading this message, my advice would be to get a PS3 or a 360 and finally take that plunge into the True Next Generation. Because if you don't, you'll be missing out on all the new innovations developers are delivering their audience.
PS: Keep up the good work, Harmonex! Spode is a great song for ladies to sing and Shake is just fun :D And since this is a Wii Topic, try to put the Metroid Prime Theme Song into the Exclusive Wii Tracks. OR for the 360 audience, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give us the Halo2 Breaking Benajamin and Hoobastank songs...PLEASE.

If you ask me I think Harmonix should include a RB exclusive memory card(like the Animal Crossing memory card)with the Wii version. That way Wii owners would have a place to store their songs.

I feel bad for the Wii users really as far as the DLC goes.
Also, as far as the bonus DLC it's going to come with....watch one of the songs be the theme to Super Mario Bros. :P

Vedderman I think you are right about the nintendo themed song, at leats one, but if it's Super Mario Bros., it'll be the song from the show with captain lou albano, that way there is singing.

Maybe because PS3 is how the french say "garbaaaggge"
It has 1 game, Rock Band.
If anything, get a game with an online system that works, like uhhh Xbox?
Voice chat, private chat, 100 limit friends list, Hundreds of games, hot titles (Halo, Gears of War etc)
PS3 is for the rich gamer who doesnt know how to play online. He buys single player games and beats them without earning any achievements, and a weak online community to "compete" with.
Get a 360

Ok, if I could get anything I would get a 360, but I can't afford it and theres only a few games that interest me on that platform. I have a Wii, I like the Wii, this is only one game that is slightly disappointing on this system. Plus theres only a few downloadable songs I really want (I'm a classic rock junkie) being:
1. Juke Box Hero
2. Gimme Three Steps
3. Smokin' (though I'd enjoy the entire Boston pack)
4. Simple Man (not released yet)
5. Brown Sugar (speculated for release)
Thats the DLC I'd really want, plus a couple more maybe (a few extra Metallica songs would be fun) but if the Wii got 5 good exclusive bonus songs I'd be really happy. I understand Nintendo's not as big with online as its competitors. But as someone said, if Harmonix let us vote on the 5 songs, be them DLC available or new songs (songs not already available as DLC) that would be neat! And I the song that I'd really love to have is Renegade by Styx, if that makes it as DLC and not on the Wii it would kill me! Thats like my favorite song.

Yes, Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, WarHawk, Resistance 1/2, MotorStorm 1/2, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Metal Gear Solid 4, Unreal Tournament III, Little Big Planet, Metal Gear Online, Gran Turismo 5, FF XIII/Versus.
Yea, none of those are games.
Also, if you buy games just to get achievements, your are one sad, sad, individual.
Also, songs I can see for the Wii version.
1) All The Small Things --- Blink-182
2) Joker & The Thief --- Wolfmother
3) Roam --- The B-52s
4) Dirty Little Secret -- All American Rejects
5) Juke Box Hero --- Foreigner
The reasoning I used: It's the Wii, which I know is marketed as for "everyone" but songs like Shockwave, which would mean one more use of an f-bomb would probably be counted out. The Wii IS really a more family friendly console, so the songs will probably be songs kids would know, and a few older ones would know. Also, considering they are bonus songs, they will probably be songs from artists not on disc.

Ignorance at it's finest... I own both, and overall probably like the xbox better, but to say that the only good game for ps3 is rock band is just plain stupid. Metal Gear Solid 4 ring a bell at all? Final Fantasy?
There is no question that xbox has a better online service. As for games, I would also say it has the edge, especially with shooters, and even RPGs. But to say the ps3s lineup is bad is completely false. It has exclusives like MGS 4, Final Fantasy, Uncharted, Warhawk, Ratchet, Resistance, God of War 3, LittleBigPlanet, and more. Along with awesome multiplatforms, like COD 4, Assassins Creed... the list goes on.

You forgot about the part where when we go online with games like CoD4, we don't have to deal with trash-talking 10-14 year olds who think they're super gangstaz. A lot of the PS3 community is more mature on the whole because the XBox is the "super cool console to have". I have both, and CoD4 on both so I'm comparing objectively having spent ample time on each.
(No I'm not saying all 360 owners are immature. Some of you are quite awesome and you know who you are! Also, welcome to a console war thread. Here comes da lock.)

I already know what the 5 songs are.
Black or White by Michael Jackson
The Sign by Ace of Base
You Spin me Round (Like a Record) by Dead or Alive
Gimme More by Britney Spears
Without Me by Eminem.

I agree with whoever said that console specific songs are bull.
that serves only to fuel the console war fire, which is the last thing that I, or anybody else, wants.
everyone with the game should have the same resources availible.
I don't know, just my personal opinion.

This thread, unfortunately, more or less doesn't serve much of a purpose in this forum in its original format ("What 5 songs do you want in the Wii version of Rock Band?" is more of an "Ultimate Setlist" question), but I do think the whole "five bonus songs from DLC" is an interesting idea, and one I can picture happening.
I would go with the following songs from DLC:
1. "Brass in Pocket" by The Pretenders -- Because God knows the on-disc content requires more female vocals, and this is still one of the snappiest ones. (Of course, my belief that Chrissie Hynde and Shirley Manson have the sexiest voices in rock probably also have something to do with it). Alternately, "Crushcrushcrush" could fill this role. (Either way, you're catering to the Wii's "alternative" audiences--the younger folks with Paramore, the older ones with the Pretenders.)
2. "My Sharona" by the Knack. Because that song is pure party rockin'. There's really no other reason needed to add it.
3. "Wonderwall" by Oasis. Oasis has a massively huge fanbase, for one, and "Wonderwall" is probably their biggest hit.
4. "Roam" by the B-52's. See both 1 and 2 (except for the "sexy voice" thing).
5. "Truckin'" by the Grateful Dead. It was either that or one from the Bston six-pack. Both groups have massively huge fanbases, and MTAF was in GH1, but since Boston already has Foreplay/Long Time on there, I figure it'd be better to keep the one-artist-on-disc ratio they seem to have going. Alternatively, "Shake" by Count Zero, because of the HMX groups on the OXM disc, they're the only ones who don't have any on-disc content already.
As for exclusivity, it sucks. I ranted about it in regards to artists committing exclusively to either the GH or RB franchise, and it's exactly the same for platform releases, particularly when it's the exact same game. Timed exclusivity is okay, so long as the rest of the world who CAN get it DO get it. This includes the EU tracks, OXM, and whatever the Wii gets (if it isn't already pre-existing DLC).
As long as they become available through DLC somewhere down the line (it doesn't have to be immediate, obviously, otherwise it would preclude the notion of "timed" exclusivity--two to four months sounds about reasonable to me) I'll be satisfied.

PS3 is for the rich gamer who doesnt know how to play online.
Actually, he's rich because of all the money he's saving not having to pay to play online. I must have the only launch 360 console in existance that's never had a paid xbox live account attached to it. Might have something to do with the fact that, as a long-time PC gamer, I've been doing everything you're paying for for free for over a decade now.
But hey, if you don't mind paying twice for the internet; once to get it and then again to use it, go right ahead. More money than sense, if you ask me.
He buys single player games and beats them without earning any achievements, and a weak online community to "compete" with.
Achievements are superficial rewards designed to increase that number next to your online profile. Whatever floats your boat. And given the lack of personality from your average live gamer, I really wouldn't risk comparisons with any other community if I were you.
