Hi, I don't know if someone has asked this before, but I was wondering what are the differences between Rockband for the PS2 and for the PS3 or 360.

PS2 = No character customization, no online play, no downloadable content, graphics are a little rough but look fine. Did I mention no downloadable content or online play?

don't forget the linear band world tour

Oh yeah! Forgot about that, and a couple of other things to keep in mind too: no downloadable content or online play

Online play is overrated and pretty much useless unless they bring us online BWT. But DLC and BWT are huge upgrades in the next gen console versions.

Wait!

PS2 version is cheaper and you get a free USB hub

Thanks guys, I'm not that concerned about online play or downloadables, I just want something to play when friends come over. I have a PS2 that I rarely use since I'm more of a PC person. Don't really want to invest in a next gen system so I'm getting Rockband for my PS2. Once again, thanks for the info.

To call it overrated is inert to what he is asking. All of the items we've listed are equally missing from the ps2 version. Even though if 99% of people say online play sucks, just having the option is worth something to somebody. I'll agree that band play online is a little overrated, but I do like a good score duel every now and then. :D

or a ps3 and RB, being that you clearly don't care about the sort of gaming that the 360 will give you but the blu ray and ability to install linux might interest you

Wait, the ps2 version will give you syphilis. That's why you should invest in a 360 & RB :)

haha, won't online play give you moar STDs? XD

shaving's nice, but itchy

waxing's nice in the long run but itchy and painful at the start

"Garth, that was a haiku."

I agree, but I was online playing at the time with extremely frustrating people and couldn't help myself ;)

I have both versions. The ps2 is fine for playing with your friends, plus you can use one of your old gh2 controllers to have someone on bass. You'll miss Band World Tour, though... of course, you won't really miss it if you don't know what you're missing.

And you can use your GH guitars - that's one thing the PS2 has over its younger sibling. ;)

Man, DLC is what makes Next Gen consoles so amazing! The tunes on the Disc are alright...but too old. The majority of people who purchased this game are between 15-30. So tell me, why do we need 80% of the tracks to be from the 70's? DLC remedies this problem. I've got more Pumpkins. Death Metal. Alternative. Ramones. NineInchNails. The list goes on and on...and I'll continue to buy songs...heck....even full albums when they are released.

The PS2 and Wii crowd are really missing out

Another difference - and an important one for me, since it's the reason I have both the PS2 and PS3 versions - is that the PS2 version isn't scratch resistant. All it takes is one drunk-ass friend falling into the PS2 to permanently end your gaming experience.

Of course, ignore this difference if your friends aren't idiot alcoholics.
