Does anyone know if or when the achievements will be released to the public for this game?

They will most likely be released. They have only been talked about very little before. We simply know that in beating difficulties in the game, they will be retroactive so if you beat expert it counts as beating easy through expert in the achievements.

The achievement list always seems to pop up a week or so before release (sometimes much sooner like for GH3). I use xbox360achievements.org to keep tabs on them as they are announced.

One of the rock band achievements will be the "castration", and to unlock it, you'll have to sing Tom Sawyer with perfect pitch.

Another achievement will be called "souvant", in which you start by playing on Expert, skipping medium, easy, and hard.

The "Mike Mangini" achievement will be given if you can rack up a HUGE ending bonus as a drummer, signifying your fast single strokes (or any other rudiment for that matter)

The "karaoke nightmare" achievement will be given if you fail to sing even ONE part of a song properly

The "effects artist" achievement will be given if you use all (5?) guitar effects in one song.

The "Rush" achievement will be given if everyone in the band does perfect ( as Rush's performances contain little or no error )

The "clean consciense" achievement will be given if you refuse to sing curse words

The "potty mouth" achievement will be given if you sing curse words in songs where they are omitted.

The "showboater" achievement will be given to a drummer who makes over 30 strokes over all four pads (including the bass pedal) during the specially marked fill sections in songs.

The "garage band" achievement will be given to any band that completely fails out on easy.

The "switch hitter" achievement will be for a drummer who completes a song on lefty flip.

( a respective achievement will be given for guitarists, differently named)

The "show saver" award will be given to one member who manages to save all of his bandmates from failing a song.
