With the Guitar Hero games, the blue/orange note and chords entered in a certain difficulties. Is Easy on the drums just 3 out of the 4 pads maybe and no pedal? Or how is that all arranged? Would you just start using all pads and the pedal right away?

It's looking like you'll still be using all 4 pads and the pedal but just a lot less (especially the pedal). Barely any hi-hat hitting, 1/2, 1/4 maybe even an 1/8 of the notes as would be on hard. 1 hit fills and rolls, stuff like that.

I can't wait to try Tom Sawyer on Expert.
I bet I break a drumstick somewhere around the second week....:D

I would say you still use all pads and the pedal on all difficulty's you just dont play every note.. for example the kick pedal, if you watch the gamespot E3 live vid of dead or alive not sure what difficulty the drums were set at i think it was medium, during the intro which uses just the kick pedal for every press of the pedal that the gamespot editor made the note played two beats. I would say on Hard - expert you would need to press the pedal for every beat.. same may be true of the pads for hi-hat, toms, snare etc.

I believe it was stated that easy/medium would have little to no use of one of the four pads, and pretty sparing use of the pedal. Then hard and expert would use all four pads and much more extensive amounts of pedal usage. Don't quote me on the specifics, but it definately sounds like a reasonable difficulty progression is in place.

After seeing lots of videos of easy and medium, I think all of them used all the pads. It's not as hard on drums to add pads as it was to add buttons to guitar IMO. Don't have to move your fingers in odd ways.

That seems like a better way to do it to me. Going from easy to med, or med to hard in GH seemed like a double increase in difficulty because you not only had more notes, but had to get accustomed to an additional button at the same time.

If anyone breaks a stick while playing this game, then dang. That's too much force.
