With the start if the NFL and College football seasons I felt it was appropiate to make a thread for it.

What are everyone's predictions going in?

I'm a New England fan myself

I <3 Tom Brady

New England will get off to a slow start without Seymore and Harrison, but they're too good not to expect them to win the whole thing.
No idea about the NFC. No team looks especially good, even my Packers. If I had to guess, I'll say Dallas.
Super Bowl Prediction- Pats 34, Cowboys 17.

College: Will be another sham of a season thanks to the "popularity contest" which is the polling system. Come bowl season, there will be the yearly disputes over positioning. Yahoo nobody teams with a soft schedule and a good record (the Boisie State, Louisville, Rutgers crowd from last year) will consider themselves somehow BCS worthy. "Power conference" teams from the Pac 10 and SEC will be the flavor of the week media darlings and get top bowls based on their conference and brand recognition.

The grand result will be a lacking and incomplete championship picture. A picture which is sold to the highest bowl sponsorship and pepetuated by corrupt/greedy college leadership. The Greed-CAA will turn it's standard blind eye and claim it's all in the students' best interests, while pocketing millions in cash.

Pros: NFC continues to stink. Championship decided in the AFC title game by some combination of NE/INDY/SD. Judging by the opener, INDY does not appear to have lost as much as expected.

I live in Indianapolis. The Colts had a nice, gentle game with the "Gnawlens" last night.

What the Colts did to the Bush bunch was embarassing. I for one think that the Broncos will at least make the playoffs this year. Last year it was heartbreaking, and the year before even worse.

The AFC like usual has all the powerhouse teams... there's at least three that have a good chance to win the superbowl, the Chargers, Colts and the Pats.... the NFC though is much more unclear but I'm gonna go with the Bears this year.. they look like they've really improved as long as Grossman doesn't throw a butt load of interceptions

pats vs. saints, with the pats winning 102 - 10

but as a former houstonian i'm obligated to say the texans are going to win the superbowl

My superbowl prediction: Chargers 21 vs. Cowboys 17

I still prefer college football over the nfl though

Here was I thinking "about time we had a footy thread", and it turns out to be an american football. Plus, there's not enough British people on here to keep it going. *sigh*

Err, whoever won it last year will win it again this year at superbowl. They're all pansies for their guards. Play rugby. And those who did for USA got pwn3d by England the otherday etc.

Football, not soccer. We outdate your (well your is used loosely - we did invent it, like baseball) sport by about 2000 years (good old Chinese... what didn't they invent)

And if we made a thread, it'd be unpopular. There was a Premiership thread (the top league in England, arguebly the best footy league in the world) but it came to nothing. Ah well.

The texans?

lol no chance of getting that far.
Although the defense is pretty solid.

i wouldnt laugh. the texans look like a dangerous team this year. matt schaub with andre johnson, owen daniels, and now jacoby jones. ahman green never really impressed me, but he does provide a decent running game i suppose. im not even a texans fan, but i can see the potential.

i dont see my falcons going anywhere for the next few years.

if i had to guess, id say the steelers go all the way though.

I'm a Bears fan, but I can't stand Grossman or Benson. I have 0 faith in the offense this year, and now that Brown is out for the season AGAIN, I'm a lil depressed about that.
Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Dude tell me about it... could Grossman have played any worse on Sunday? He had like 4 turn overs on his own.... Benson still has time to prove himself and I think he could do well and as far as Brown goes, I think he's prety much done with the Bears, I mean he's only played 21 games in his career

No, he's played 85 games in his career. He played 4 full seasons and the past 4 have been impacted by injury. He has only played 21 games in the past 4 years but 64 his first 4 years. I'm not sure the status of his contract and the amount of his guaranteed money but I'd assume they might just release him at this point so I agree with you there.

Ex-Badger FTW.
Texans will be tough, but they're still a couple years out.

And Amy, girls don't know anything about football.
