View Full Version : Name YOUR Radiohead dlc songs!

After it became apparent that a few Radiohead fans were voting No for OK Computer as full album dlc on Coldplayer's thread (http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3341), i figured it'd be a good idea to post a new thread and find out what Radiohead songs YOU want to see in the game. Name a song, or 6 or whatever (for the sake of the tally, i'm only gonna count the first 6 songs listed).
Song Tally:
89 - Paranoid Android
56 - Just
35 - Karma Police
33 - 2+2=5
31 - Bodysnatchers, Electioneering
27 - The Bends
26 - Airbag
24 - There There
22 - Let Down, Optimistic
21 - Jigsaw Falling Into Place
19 - Fake Plastic Trees, High & Dry, Street Spirit (Fade Out)

I have not seen "Fake Plastic Trees" ever mentioned in this forum... would it not work in Rock Band or is it just not that popular among Radiohead's total collection? I know it's old but I thought it was brilliant, right down to the video.

This thread was born out of the seeming dissaproval of OK Computer as a full album download, but I will say that anyone that sees this thread and thinks that OK Computer would be sweet (minus Fitter Happier, obviously), head over to Coldplayers Thread (The longest Raiohead thread on this forum) and vote for it!
@FatWilma - I plan to keep bumping this.

it definitely would work in RB, but might be a lil boring till the climax. i think its a great song, just not one of my top favorites.
@ jabarony - some excellent b-side choices there!
@ TakeABow - very similar list to mine, i like! also, i made sure to put a link to Coldplayer's thread (http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3341) in my 1st post (and again here). btw, don't forget to bump the Bloc Party thread! I love Fake Plastic Trees. In my Top 10 Radiohead songs for sure.
I also would put Bodysnatchers, Jigsaw Falling into Place, and Idioteque on that list (including the 6 from my earlier post.)

Idioteque is one of my ultimate favorites, but i can't see anyway that it would work in RB. however, if HMX could make it work by charting all the different sounds and noises, i would be 110% down.

Thanks for putting a link to my thread.
I just hope that HMX don't read your first post and think that the majority of Radiohead fans vote NO for Ok Computer, because THAT IS NOT THE CASE!
Most fans want this album, just like I want it. Just because there are two or three people who say they like Radiohead but don't want this album, doesn't mean most of us think the same.
I can't even really tell you what 6 song pack I would like to have because all my songs would be songs from OK Computer. Maybe I can add 2+2=5 and Fake Plastic Trees.
But really, there is nothing more I want than the whole Ok Computer album!!

hey, u don't need to convince me. for whatever reason, it seems alot of people have the impression that Radiohead has essentially become an electronica band. thats why i put up so many vids on the 1st page, becuase that couldn't be farther from the truth. i want to try and show non-fans and even some casual fans that they are still, and always have been, a rock band.

Well, as a huge Radiohead fan who voiced trepidation about Ok Computer let me try one more time:
Would I be absolutely ecstatic if OK Computer came out and probably throw a party to celebrate? Yes.
Do I think it's more realistic to hope for a six-pack of songs that are all "ideal" for the game? Yes.

great 6-pack tho! and again, i agree that a 6-pack is much more realistic to look forward to at THIS point...but once they start releasing albums, i can still definitely see OK Computer being near the top of the list of considerations.
and in a perfect, dlc filled world, imagine how great a Radiohead 6-pack could be AFTER they released OK Computer...
@ onemic - i'd be down for ANY In Rainbows dlc...i just don't see it happening without record label representation.
@ Coldplayer - i took "even" out, so i think that clears it up a lil bit more.

idk about that one, its only 1:45 long and no bass or drums...but that whole My Iron Lung EP its from is a great lil collection of b-sides.
- check this out: http://news.q4music.com/2008/04/radiohead_to_release_best_of_i.html
Radiohead To Release 'Best Of' In June
Q4music.com can exclusively reveal that the first ever Radiohead greatest hits album will be released through Parlophone on 2 June.
Radiohead: The Best Of will be available as a double CD package and 4 x vinyl LP set. CD 1 will also be available as a stand alone CD. It will include material from all the band's albums for Parlophone, from Pablo Honey to Hail To The Thief, plus one B-side, Talk Show Host.
Radiohead have long been opposed to the idea of a greatest hits set. In February, guitarist Ed O'Brien told a Canadian TV station: “[Parlophone] are planning to do a greatest hits... to coincide with our tour. That’s an interesting one. We won’t be doing any promotion for that, obviously.”
The track-listing is as follows:
CD1
Just
Paranoid Android
Karma Police
Creep
No Surprises
High and Dry
My Iron Lung
There There
Lucky
Fake Plastic Trees
Idioteque
2+2 = 5
The Bends
Pyramid Song
Street Spirit (Fade Out)
Everything In Its Right Place
CD2
Airbag
I Might Be Wrong
Go To Sleep
Let Down
Planet Telex
Exit Music (For A Film)
The National Anthem
Knives Out
Talk Show Host
You
Anyone Can Play Guitar
How To Disappear Completely
True Love Waits
thats a pretty good tracklisting. i may have made a few changes here or there, but all in all, a good compilation for new or casual fans.
this, along with the box set released a few months ago (to coincide with In Rainbows), just further proves that EMI is continuing to whore out Radiohead's back catalog to make money off Radiohead's continued success without them. even tho i'm sure Radiohead completely hates this, i would LOVE it if it meant easier access for HMX to get more songs in RB!
so HMX, how about this as full album dlc? Please...Thank you!

yeah, i'm (mostly) kidding, there is no way they would release all of that. and honestly, i'm still with u. i'd rather have OK Computer and a followup 6-pack. that would COMPLETELY quench the thirst.

I am not an intellectual property lawyer by any stretch of the imagination, but I would think that not being w/ EMI anymore would make earlier DLC harder to get, not vice-versa.
Anyway, I'm sure that EMI doesn't have any standing w/ In Rainbows and TBD records (their current label) would be happy to oblige.
In other news, I can't believe I forgot Jigsaw... but I'm surprised that I had never heard bangers & mash. Is it a hidden track?

it really does depend on if TBD is representing them for licensing matters, in which case it would still be up to the band when it comes to decisions on that stuff. since EMI has released 2 compilations without the band's consent, i'm thinking that since HMX already has licensing relations with them, it wouldn't be that hard to get some more at this point.
don't get me wrong, i'd absolutely love to see some In Rainbows songs for dlc. maybe they are easy to get, or harder, who knows?!?
Bangers & Mash is kindof a hidden track, but not really. its on the bonus disc that came with the "Discbox" special edition package. i didn't get the discbox and still found it pretty easily ;). if u like In Rainbows, do u'reself a favor and find the bonus disc ASAP! Down Is The New Up is right up there as 1 of my favorites from EITHER disc!

I actually don't mind these weeks being what they are. I have a PS3, and I have been hoping for the OXM tracks (good or bad) just for console equality for a while. And I played, and loved Portal, and having the free "Still Alive" is a dissapointment that we didn't get Muse or Radiohead or Bloc Party, but I would rather have this than Panic! at the Disco or Story of the Year.
Trying to stay positive. Oh, and I can't get the songs anyway since the PS store is down.
But! But!
According to my friend who lives in Chicago, it was announced on the radio that Bloc Party will be at Lollapalooza along with a large list of others (most importantly Radiohead).

TakeABow, i'm glad u're happy about the HMX pack. its just that for most 360 owners, we've only got 1 new song in 2 weeks and since i am a dlc addict, like most users on this forum, i need to get my fix. not to mention that 1 song was pretty weak sauce.
Bloc Party live is awesome, not mind blowingly awesome like Radiohead is live, but a great show none-the-less. their songs sound much more raw and energetic live. they don't have that studio clean sound they do on the albums, which i liked. it just made me appreciate them more than i already did.
Coldplayer, thats what i'm sayin man, whatever they can get, whatever they got, i just need it ASAP! 1 song (Paranoid Android), 3 songs, 6 songs, whatever. i wants it! i nEEds it!
*updated with andybogardng's list. sorry, but since u listed 8 songs, for the sake of keeping the song tally somewhat legit, i took out I Might Be Wrong and Knives Out cause i'm thinking those will be 2 of the less requested songs from u're list. i completely love those songs btw, so don't get the wrong idea! let me know if you would like to change those 2...

Yeah, seriously, I'm at a time now where I really need my Radiohead fix. Can't play My Iron Lung forever. It should be more than one song, but I really take everything they have now.
I'm listening a lot to In Rainbows lately and Bodysnatchers would really rock, but I doubt we'll get In Rainbows songs.
Argh, HMX, WHATEVER YOU HAVE JUST RELEASE IT NOW!!!!!

Heh, don't know if any of my friends would ever like to play that long.
Anyway, In Rainbows took me a few listenings until I really started to love it. The only song I was immediately in love with was Videotape. And now i love almost every song.
... how long do we have to wait to get more Radiohead? :(

thats why u gotta break it up in parts and just leave u're system running. we started it early fri night, got almost halfway thru, and then picked it back up sat afternoon. like i said, it went by much faster & easier than i was expecting. we even got thru Green Grass with a full bar of Overdrive leftover!
anyways, it just felt good to get it out of the way. its done, & we'll never have to do it again! i'm good with us getting 287/290 stars!
In Rainbows is absolutely brilliant! Please tell me u've found the bonus disc songs by now. there are 2 other songs (4 Minute Warning and Last Flowers to the Hospital) that could have taken the place of Videotape as the final track, but being that the album is called In Rainbows, and Videotape is about everyone's life being captured in red, blue, & green, that just seems more fitting.

To be honest, if you told me the name of any Radiohead track and said it was going to be DLC, I would be excited.
I mean, sure, I think Paranoid Android needs to be in the game, but in the end any Radiohead > not Radiohead. Except for Muse.

I would love to see more Radiohead in the game! As much as I like My Iron Lung, I don't really know why they included it over something like Just (maybe they were trying to be ironic by putting in a song that's about Creep!)
Here are some songs that I think would be fun for all four parts on the game:
Just
Airbag
Trickster
Black Star
2+2=5
High & Dry
Bones
Bodysnatchers
Of course, I would play just about any Radiohead song that would be put in the store, but the ones above are songs that would offer a bit of challenge to each instrument and also be quite recognizable to people who don't know Radiohead as well as the more hardcore fans do.

It's nice for people who just want some of the best songs, but you'd go better with buying the 7 album box.

Albums are works of art in and of themselves. An album tells a story, has a beginning, a middle, and an end. I hate greatest hits / singles albums since the songs don't go together. They don't belong together. Live albums are fantastic, if it is the recording of a particular show, because every concert has its own setlist and story to tell.
At least that is my perspective. I think albums are worthy of enjoying start-to finish, and I refuse to buy single tracks on iTunes - If I want the song, I get the album it belongs on.

re: the greatest hits, i think its a good collection for casual fans. they arn't gonna listen to entire albums start to finish anyways, so its at least good that they can have a collection of songs and play them on random or whatever and hear the sonic perfection that is Radiohead.
and good music is good music, no matter where u live or how old u are. lemme test something on u guys tho. my favorite "genre" of music is jazz. if u guys get the chance, check out Greyboy Allstars and Galactic and tell me what u think. those are 2 of my favorite jazz/funk groups that are almost impossible not to like, especially if u saw them live. a few of my other current faves (back in the rock category) are My Morning Jacket, Wilco, !!! (Chk Chk Chk), Flaming Lips, & Hot Chip. do u guys like anything from them?

Wilco is fantastic. I like the other bands you listed (Galactic and Breyboy Allstars too) but I wouldn't list them among my favorites per-se. All great music though.
I suppose greatest hits albums work for people who want to get a bunch of great songs on one disk and aren't going to listen to a full album. I just feel like the old CDs and the band themselves would resent me for it.

Bishop's Ropes is really a cool song.
Talk Show Host would be nice too, especially the intro would be really cool to play, and you can really hear all the instruments clearly. The only problem is that there is just a little guitar and this guitar always repeats the same three chords.
The live version is a little bit different, has more chords and even some kind of guitar solo in it, I think.

Talk Show Host is one of their better B-sides imo. it has a very different sound than most all their other songs. i especially like the line "You want me? Well f***ing come and find me."
@ TakeABow - Radiohead went on record saying they were against a greatest hits collection and didn't approve of what EMI is doing. they are just using it to make a quick buck. that just goes along with my thinking of why it should be fairly easy for HMX to get licenses from EMI right now.

i dont think that last song is Radiohead. not a song i've ever heard before. singer sounds LIKE thom, but i dont think it is thom.
edit: http://www.greenplastic.com/lyrics/innocentscivilian.php
Innocents Civilian
*no lyrics available.
SONG INFORMATION
Released: Unreleased
Found on: N/A
During the making of Kid A and Amnesiac, Ed O'Brien's diary listed a lot of brand new unreleased songs that either made it the two albums or didn't. "Innocents Civilian" never did and to tell you the truth, the song may have never existed in the first place and may just be a joke from the band. In February 2000, Ed made the following entry in his diary: "go on message board and someone asks us about 'innocents civilian'. so once we get off the web we decide to put up the master tape of it. can't find it anywhere which is incredibly strange. it's got to turn up."
After this there was this whole brew-ha-ha on the official Radiohead message board about someone stealing the "Innocents Civilian" master tape. It turns out that this was all a fake... Ed said in a press conference that song was a hoax. It was actually one of their worst songs but as a joke Ed decided to write in his diary that it was one of the best songs they had ever done and that the master tapes were stolen. This was done to fool the press because they were following his diary closely. (from ne pas a.v.a.l.e.r.)
If you find a mp3 online entitled "Innocents Civilian", it is fake and most likely a song from the band Palo Alto called "Some Things Must Go This Way."
bam.

nice list Blade, first mention of Dollars & Cents. i love that song, but a very subtle guitar part. i think Optimistic is probably the best song for RB from Kid A or Amnesiac. Knives Out and I Might Be Wrong would be good too.
i'm really surprised to see all the love for 2+2=5 but hardly any shown towards There There and Go To Sleep. believe me, i love 2+2=5, but i personally think There There and Go To Sleep would be much better choices for RB.
how about a Hail to the Thief 3-pack of 2+2=5, Go To Sleep, & There There. yeah, that sounds pretty good :D

i hate galloping notes.
sometimes they're easy, sometimes they're hard, but they're never really "fun" imo. 1 of the major reasons Just and 2+2=5 arn't in my 6-pack is because they would more than likely be loaded with them.
i think There There and Go To Sleep would have awesome charts for all parts, but especially guitar.
/RB. it just so happens that There There and Go To Sleep are two of my top favorite songs. 2+2=5 is also near the top, but i'm with TakeABow, i could definitely name about 10 songs i like more.

I do have to admit that 2+2=5 would fit really well in Rock Band. It balance the four parts pretty well. Well, the bass doesn't get much emphasis, but guitar, drums, and vocal all have thier own moments during the song.

true, but still, Go To Sleep! such a great song.
Hail to the Thief is my 2nd favorite Radiohead album (well, maybe tied for 2nd now with In Rainbows, but too early to tell). almost every song is one that i could legitimately say is one of my ultimate faves. There There and Go To Sleep top the list for sure tho...
Coldplayer, i'm sure u're THRILLED that we're gettin more classic rock next week! i'm just glad we're getting REAL songs for the first time in 3 weeks. i love The Police and would buy anything from them. Simple Man and Call Me are good too.

I'll freely admit that I love Go To Sleep, but It is fighting for position in the 11-20 bracket of Radiohead songs for me.
For perspective: If Go To Sleep was released by almost any other band, It would be my favorite track by that band.
Radiohead Quality > almost all other bands.
::On this week's DLC:: I really like Message in A Bottle, although that may have more to do with my dad playing it constantly while I grew up than the song impressing me musically.

Radiohead Quality > almost all other bands.
wow, thats quite an understatement.
but i see what u're sayin, and its true. for me, i can't compare Floyd and Radiohead to anything else for the same reason. literally there are 4 types music that register in my brain: Floyd, Radiohead, good music, & bad music. simple as that.
obviously there are lots of other bands that i love, and i could rank them compared to other bands i like, but its nothing even close to the level Floyd and Radiohead are at.
Pink Floyd is my musical savior, Radiohead is the 2nd coming.

I am soooo THRILLED about next weeks DLC, I could puke.
For real, why do they give us another pack of classic rock???? What is their problem?? You know, the week after next weeks DLC will probably be Who's Next and this mean another package of Classic Rock. At least I love Baba O Riley but still. That's not really balanced.
I mean, I will download Blondie and Message in A Bottle, but those songs are just "Meh", nothing more. Blondie's "Call Me" is actually a pretty annoying song which is played on chart station radio often and Message in A Bottle - well it's one of the better Police songs, but I don't like Police much, expect for Every Breath You Take, which we will probably never get, besides, we already have enough Police. We don't have ONE Cure song, although the Cure is a million times better than the Police. We only have two Radiohead songs - does HMX really understand a lot about music? Not so sure anymore...
God, the DLC sucks. How can they release DLC every week and there is no song where I really jumped of excitement? There was just ONE song, ONE - and that was My Iron Lung. Actually, that's note even true, because at the time it was announced I haven't listen through the Bends yet. I loved the song immediately, but still....
It's just disappointing. Sorry.

i understand the frustration, but u can't seriously expect to be WOW'ed every week. when there is even 1 song i like, i'm happy. at least this week we got some decent songs.
that said, of course i would love to see some newer material, but alot of the newer songs they would release are probably from bands i completely hate. i'm not expecting a Radiohead pack followed by a Bloc Party pack followed by a Muse pack, etc etc.
i'm still dying to play Hysteria and Zero, and every week that goes by where those don't come out is dissapointing to me. but as long as they keep releasing good songs like this, i won't be completely frustrated about it.

The thing that bothers me is, that I've never been WOW'ed ever. All those song released so far, I've never said "Wow. Most awesome" to any of those songs. Not even My Iron Lung and not even Hysteria (not that big Muse fan anyway). And that's just sad.

I have been fairly dissapointed by the DLC overall. I like to stay positive about the whole thing, but honestly, Just like you said. I have only WOW!ed once. Once for My Iron Lung. I kinda did a half wow for More than a Feeling, but I have been raised to like that song, (hearing it all the time growing up - that and my dad's obesession with Jethro Tull have worn off on me to some extend).
I was actually depressed to learn that there was a Radiohead track on the disk, and then find out it was just Creep. I mean, of all songs...
I am SOOOO pumpted for Hysteria. May 23rd.... Counting down now.
Is there a limit on how many times you use the "Request a song" feature? I have used it like 25 times, and I was wondering if there is anything stopping me from requesting Paranoid Android like 50 times?

tribestros - OK Computer would be brilliant (check out Coldplayer's thread (http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3341)), but for this one, list a 6-pack of songs u'd specifically like to see...
back on the subject of dlc, i've been happy with it overall. there have been many times i've been wow'ed (Police, My Iron Lung, STP, Rush, Weezer, Oasis, Pumpkins, NIN, Grateful Dead, Boston). its not that i was necessarily wow'ed with the announcements of Rush or Dead, but they are some of the most fun songs in the game.
i would be completely 100% satisfied with my entire RB song collection once Hysteria and Zero come out and there's at least ONE Radiohead pack released (and a Bloc Party pack would be nice too, also i think Soundgarden and Chilli Peppers packs are way overdue (would sell like hotcakes)).

I have to admit that I will probably not ever be 100% satisfied unless they were to release full-album DLC's from each of my 10 favorite bands or so. Althouth I am not easily satisfied, admittedly.
I would be about 98% satisfied with 2-3 Muse songs, 3+ MORE Radiohead tracks, and Fascination Street.

thats a bit more reasonable.
i think Hysteria is going to sell really well here, and more would obviously sell well both here and in europe. so i think we'll see at least 1 more Muse song, if not a pack. the same goes for Radiohead, and obviously we all want more Radiohead. The Cure, idk, i've kinda given up hope on all bands not already in the game (with the exception of Bloc Party). thats why i'd really like to see a Soundgarden and Chilli Peppers pack b4 all is said and done on dlc.

One of the Dev's (I don't remember who, but I linked to the interview in Coldplayer's Cure thread) said they would like to see the Cure, so I am optimistic about them.

Nah, I'm sure we will see new bands as well.
It's actually kinda strange that The Cure isn't already in the game. I mean, Robert Smith is really a nice guy, I think, and he made a lot of collaborations with other bands like Placebo and blink182, so I think he is pretty open for new stuff. And The Cure was MTV Icon a few years ago, and MTV is publishing this game, so....? Besides, Friday I'm in Love was already in a Singstar Game once!!
So why the hell is the Cure not in the game yet??
And I also think we will see more Radiohead and Muse. Just hope that it will be soon. I kinda have the feeling they are really thinking about giving us Ok Computer. I mean, it's perfect. It's a milestone. It's one of the top albums to think about when you think about Full Album DLC.
Besides, that's the only reason I can think of, why they haven't released Paranoid Android yet.

I just hope this isn't a reason for Radiohead to say no to DLC contracts, with EMI being as greedy as they are - there is bound to be some animosity over the Box Set and the "Best of" releases without the band's input.

I am up there with the most Muse-obsessed people on this forum, and I will agree that BHaR has a few songs that really do not belong: Starlight and Supermassive Black Hole.
I feel like they included those songs to attract attention from people who normally wouldn't be interested in them. Both of those songs grate at me when I listen to them. My favorite song from that album (actually probably my favorite song overall at the moment) is Invincible, which doesn't get alot of attention, but at least has a CD and DVD single.

Something I just thought of in light of the Motley Crue single being released through Rock Band:
Radiohead is always writing new songs, many of which have not been released on a record or even as the B-side of a single, so perhaps (maybe?!) we could see a new Radiohead song released THROUGH Rock Band.
A long shot, but it would be amazing.
FatWilma
04-15-2008, 11:28 AM
definitely a long shot. the reason Motley Crue is doin this is becuase more than likely they won't really "sell" a whole lot of their new stuff. this offers them another market to generate income from a ton of people that normally wouldn't give Motley Crue a dime, aka, me.
Radiohead (as evidenced by name u're own price) isn't really concerned about making money on their music at this point. their fans (me again) are rabid enough to buy anything with Radiohead on it. not to mention that they have lakes of money they can swim in.

If you could squeeze in one more layer, you could probably warp one big oval to make both the ears. That said, I used 23 layers for my bear, so having most of one, plus the Darkside prism, plus another logo is quite impressive.
FatWilma
04-15-2008, 04:57 PM
the ears would probably be at least another 6 layers, and i absolutely cannot take any away from the darkside prism. that thing is perfect. i think i only used 10 on the entire bear. the Redskins "R" is only 3. i think the max is 24, so yeah i got 11 on the prism (the light going in actually has a lil blip of grey in the middle, looks awesome up close).
i really don't think 1 warped oval would do it, it'd probably look funny, and i think for as simple as my bear is, it looks really good. anyone who knows whats up would instantly recognize it.

And yeah.... I had enough 360 withdrawal after I boxed it up and sent it off to get fixed last week, so I bought an Elite system. *lol*.... so not only am I stoked to have an Elite system, but I got my pit tickets for the Radiohead concert in St. Louis on Saturday.... so life couldn't be better! :D:D:D

Well technically, yes, I have two, but the other one is still out being serviced. I bought the first one two months after they came out and I've been having some problems with it ever since then -- game locking up or getting a dirty disc error (when the game is brand spanking new). Once I powered it up, I always had to take the disc out and wipe it before starting the game. It never really stalled on RockBand, but when I played franchise modes on my sports games (Madden, NCAA Football, MLB, etc.), I could only get through a few games before it stalled and I'd have to re-start it. Eventually it made its way to the dreaded red rings of light and it wouldn't power up at all.
I've been wanting to get the 120GB hard drive to replace the original 20GB, but since the Elite came with HDMI cables and I already had my other HD cables tied up with the DVD player and the cable box, it just made sense to me to get it. Saves me from reaching around and swapping cables every time I want to play it. Just having the other one crap out on me just gave me an excuse to buy the Elite system. I've had it for five days and I'm not experiencing any problems like I had with the old one.
Once I get the other XBox back, I'll just package it up (still have the original box and packaging) and throw in a few games I no longer want and an extra wireless controller and put it on E-Bay or something. .... it's not like I'm planning to have an XBox in every room of the house or anything. lol

man, i really hate reading about people's horror stories with the 360. i got mine 2 or 3 months after it came out and i havn't a single problem with mine, not one.
not to turn this into a console war or anything, but if i had a ps3, literally the only thing i would use it for is blu-ray. most all the games i play are 360 exclusive or dual console, and i would prolly keep getting those for 360 if i had both (almost everyone i know has a 360 and achievements are fun too). there are only a very small handful of exclusive games that even begin to peak my interest on ps3, and obviously that will change, but i just wouldn't play the thing right now.
i know i'll eventually end up buying one as my blu-ray player and pickin up a few games for it (Metal Gear, God of War 3 come to mind), but hopefully thats still a ways off for me (i'm not exactly rolling in cash right now).

I'm on my 6th xbox. The 5 preceeding have suffered the RRoD. I can't say I'm terribly impressed with the build quality of this thing. It seems like such a huge step down from the last xbox in terms of durability. I played the crap out of my old Xbox and even pulled the whole thing apart and put it in a clear case and it worked like a champ. I gave it to a friend of mine and the thing is still running perfectly to this day.
Sony seems to be on the ball when it comes to system quality. I've still got my original Playstation and my brother's got one of the first Playstation 2s and both work great. My bro's ps2 spits fire every once in a while but that hasn't stopped it from playing games and dvds >_> He's got a Ps3 now and I am so impressed by how well made that thing is. If it weren't for all the great games on the 360, I'd drop it and buy a ps3 for sure.
p.s. Radiohead ftw! :D

Luckily I had the Gamestop warantee on the last 5 so it didn't really cost me anything. I don't know what I would've done otherwise. Gamestop stopped doing their hardware warantee so I doin't have it on the 6th one. It makes me a little nervous.

You can get 250GB drives for pretty cheap nowadays.
BTW. I blame Last.fm for exposing me to about 3000 of those tracks. The radio feature led me through a bunch of really good bands. Going to Lollapalooza 2006 and 2007 got me into a bunch of new stuff as well.
And I'm willing to dump money into CD's, which helps.
@Fatwilma:

I would really take any Radiohead DLC to be honest, but here are my choices.
For Album DLC: OK Computer
For 3 Pack: "Jigsaw Falling Into Place", "Electioneering", and "Paranoid Android"
I think these have a happy medium of being mainstream enough of Radiohead songs along with being really good, have some solid parts for everyone in the band.

I missed you online. I was on, but someone was here and I paused everything... didn't want to be rude beating on the drums and making a ton of noise.
No, I'm not a bandwagoner. Growing up, I was a Royals fan and George is and always will be my favorite player. I listened to the games on the radio all the time and if I fell asleep listening to a West Coast game, I'd always check the box scores in the morning to see how he did. My mom cancelled our cable when Brett was making his run for 3,000, but I have the live radio call on audiotape somewhere. The organization hasn't been the same since George retired from the game and they've had some decent young players (Damon, Beltran, Dye, etc.) but they can't afford to keep them around and it makes it tough to stick with a team like that. KC is looking decent, but its early and the feeling is they'll be under the .500 mark by the end of the season. They've got some potential though and I don't think they'll lose 100 games.
I'm still a KC fan, but I've always hated the Yankees, so you could say Boston was always my second team because of the rivalry. Boston moved as my top team for one reason: Doug Mirabelli. My dad had season tickets to Wichita State baseball and I became a Mirabelli fan back when WSU was making regular runs to the CWS in Omaha. Oddly enough, Varitek and Nomar played for Georgia Tech and played in an NCAA Regional in Wichita back in '94. That team put on such an offensive display and I just kept following them on to the majors. Along with those three, somewhere along the way, I became a Pedro fan, but once Mirabelli joined the Sox, I was all in. Sucks that they released him, but his offense really dropped off the last three years.

Of course, I do have one problem with Radiohead in rock band... I can't match Thom Yorkes voice! Seriously, I can only barely pass them on hard.
Of course, I am kidding. I usually sing on medium, anyway, because I find that the most fun. And the Radiohead songs are very fun to sing, when I'm not sucking :D
Of course, the best thing about My Iron Lung, in my opinion, was the guitar. The end solo was incredibly fun to play.

I am actually quite good at singing, well I'm singer in a real band too, so. :p
But I still play Vocals on Medium because you can sing as good as you want it just sucks if you have to sing EXACTLY like Thom Yorke did in the recording. I mean, even Thom Yorke doesn't sing exactly like he did in the studio recording when he sings live.
FatWilma
04-18-2008, 10:37 AM
its not that u have to sing exactly like the singers do, its just that u gotta have perfect pitch on expert, something that alot of us don't have.
i was playing online with Apples the other day and was talkin to him about the endless setlist. he beat it by himself on Expert Vocals/Guitar. i just can't even imagine getting thru some of those songs on expert vocals AND having to play the guitar part at the same time. i guess when u're a good singer tho, it just comes natural...

OK, here are my top songs (I'm being realistic here, so no In Rainbows, though Bodysnatchers or Weird Fish/Arpeggi would rock, it's hard to get the licensing for indie labels)
1) Paranoid Android
2) Electioneering
3) 2 + 2 = 5
4) Airbag
5) Knives Out
6) Just
And OK Computer would be awesome if they got it as a full album. (without Fitter Happier, or maybe with it if they wanted to give everybody but the singer a break).

btw, i love that screename Alright_Computer! so simple, yet so effective. and for the love of u're windows, u should get some eggcrates and stick them to the walls! always a great look!
also btw, finally Planet Telex got some love on the song tally. thats definitely in my top 10 songs for RB.

Haven't I voted for Planet Telex?
I love that song. I still want Ok Computer, but Planet Telex would be awesome.
Also Bodysnatchers and Weird Fishes/Apreggi.
Damn, just give us everything.
BTW, I wrote a PN to Sean today. I know he won't tell me anything, but I wanted to make sure he notices how dedicated we are for Radiohead, especially Ok Computer.

Coldplayer, this is what i got u down for:
I can't even really tell you what 6 song pack I would like to have because all my songs would be songs from OK Computer. Maybe I can add 2+2=5 and Fake Plastic Trees.
u gotta give me a 6-pack tho man, c'mon! Paranoid Android, _______ , _______ , _______ , 2+2=5, and Fake Plastic Trees. give me 3 more!
I probably would have to say Let Down, No Surprises and probably Climbing Up The Walls. See, there is no reason they can't just release the whole Ok Comp for me instead. :p
let me know if u want to change any of those up, its no problem.
i would hope that Sean and JohnLok or whoever sees these threads at some point. either way, they HAVE to know that there is a massive demand for anything Radiohead.
edit: -1 for Fake Plastic Trees and +1 for Planet Telex, done.

Yeah, let me change Fake Plastic Trees to Planet Telex.
I would love to have Bodysnatchers or Weird Fishes/Apreggi, but I doubt they get the rights to those, so I'm not going to vote for them. Also, I just cannot not vote for any of those other songs.
Argh... I really like to vote for Bodysnatchers, but Bodysnatchers has enough votes anyway, so I won't do it.

I honestly don't think that there would be an issue with getting the rights to anything from In Rainbows, since Radiohead holds all the rights for the record, and MTV games wouldn't even need to contact a record company for the contract.
I really think Bodysnatchers should get in, not before OK Computer of course, but I do think it is a very real possibility.

I think almost any Radiohead song could be made to fit in Rock Band, with the excption of Kid A, since the guitar is not featured particularly there.

Yeah, or Amnesiac. But they have guitar, bass, drums, and vocals (on most songs anyways). I'm rooting for the day when I can open up DLC and download OK Computer. Then the Bends. Then In Rainbows. Then Hail to the Thief. Hell, I'd even download Pablo Honey.

I paid 6 pounds for In Rainbows. And yesterday I bought the CD from store. I don't think Harmonix is going to chart songs for free, so I wouldn't expect them to be cheaper than $0.99 if that ever happened.

I'll admit I downloaded it for free, but I got the discbox, so I'm not going to be guilted into buying the CD from the store. I just needed some Radiohead to keep me happy until the discbox came.

i updated the 1st post with these most recent lists. lots of good stuff there guys, thanks!
jdre- keep on listening! the more u hear their music, the more it grows on u.
to catch up on the previous convo, i paid 4 pounds for In Rainbows which is like 7 or 8 bucks i think. i then found the bonus disc songs and downloaded them seperate. i couldn't afford the discbox (well, i probably could have, but i just really didn't want to spend $80+). i would have spent that if it came with a DVD or something else, but i knew i could find the bonus disc songs myself.
speaking of dvd's, idk if u guys missed it or what, but i posted a couple links on page 19 where u can guys download TONs of great Radiohead bootlegs, audio and video. check it out...

Do you guys know the Radiohead CD collection called "Towering Above The Rest"? I guess it's an unofficial collection of everything Radiohead related, this means, Bootlegs, Early Version, On A Friday stuff etc.
There is a 10 CD version and I also found a 24 CD version on the net.
24 CDs full of rare Radiohead stuff!! Amazing.
FatWilma
04-21-2008, 12:02 PM
TakeABow mentioned that awhile back, but i didn't realize it had some On A Friday stuff as well, now i've gotta look into gettin it. i believe i already have 99% of all their rare stuff, but nothing from On A Friday.
On A Friday was their name before they switched to Radiohead, in case anyone was wondering.

Yeah, but keep looking for the version with 24 CDs, I'm not sure if the On A Friday songs are on the 10 CD version.

They aren't. Sadly. There are six years of our favorite Oxfordshire 5-piece's history under the name On A Friday.

a few random thoughts:
a couple pages back, miles noted that he had passed my solo drum career score. he had 6.7 mil and i was at 6.5. well, obviously i took that as a challenge so this weekend i upped my score to 7.3 mil. how bout them apples? :D
what are the rest of u guys at? i think my solo guitar career score is also 7 mil somthing.
also, i really hope the Judas Priest and The Cars albums bomb. if they do, it will show them 1 of 2 things, both of which i think are important. 1, people want new stuff, and 2, if they are gonna put bands like that in, doing an entire album is a waste of time and effort. a 3-pack would have been PLENTY for those 2 bands.
album releases should strictly be used for bands that are in very high demand, past and present.

Well, the only problem is, if those albums flop, they could think all albums will flop and then they stop releasing albums.
But however, I don't think those albums will flop. Judas Priest even leads the album POLL on the Rockband webpage.

thats what i'm saying tho. i'm now starting to think they shouldn't be releasing albums.
there should only have been a select handful of albums to even be considered. the fact that Judas Priest and The Cars were considered, i find surprising. the fact they are the 1st 2 being released i find shocking.
again, only bands that are in extremely high demand right NOW should even be considered for albums. the Judas album only went 2x platinum and topped out at #17 in the US and #11 in UK, and that was in the 80's. 310,000 sold from 1991-2006 according to Soundscan. quite a considerable drop off huh?
that album is over 25 years old and never even broke the top ten when it was popular. i just don't get it.

Hm. I can understand you. Maybe it was just easy to get the Masters of that album. That's the only logical explanation.
But I still think they should release albums. Why not? Someday they will have released all albums ever created and then we certainly have our fav bands too. :D

as was said by someone b4, there is a limit to the C in DLC. they can't release everything. so go ahead, release a few Judas and Cars songs. but do we REAlly need 18 songs from them?!?
so don't buy them, yeah, i'm not going to. the thing that concerns me is the limit to the content. we usually only get 3 songs a week, and sometimes those arn't stellar choices, but thats fine. when they release a lump of songs like this, it really should be something that a good majority of people are into.

Well, Alex Rigopolus said in a recent interview that the amount of content will raise with the time. So maybe someday we will get more than 3 songs per week.
Anyway, I will definitely not buy Judas Priest, but I'm certainly buying Doolittle, and probably also Cars, since it's not that bad. (even reminds me a little of the Cure, a liiiittle.)

thats cool, i'm glad u like them. i'm honestly not trying to rant just for the sake of ranting.
i think there is a difference between a 1 or 2 dollar micro-transaction and a 15 dollar "micro"-transaction. people WILL buy a few songs from an artist they are not really into. but 15 bucks for a full album? thats pretty exclusive territory there. people arnt just gonna fork over 15 bucks or lay down 1200 MS points. thats alot.
we probably won't ever know how these albums really sell, but i would be willing to bet even people that WERE willing to buy the full album will get sticker shock and end up only buyin a few songs. like i said in a previous rant, albums should only be for bands that are in extreme demand with vast appeal.

Well, maybe you're right, maybe not.
But how can you tell which bands are the ones with vast appeal? That can be a big topic of discussion too. And I don't have the time for that.
That's something HMX has to think about.
We will see how this will all turn out one day. (If one day they will have released many albums or just a few and none anymore)

Well, I personally would at least take into consideration the amount of times an album has gone platinum. However, OK Computer has only gone 3x platinum, I believe, so maybe not.

however the selection process works, i just hope that they are willing to put more money into getting song licenses from current bands. i'm sure getting the rights for songs from Radiohead, Bloc Party, Muse, etc is more expensive than getting Judas Priest, Cars, Pixies.
hopefully a song like Hysteria sells really well and they realize how much more they could make if they spend a lil bit more to get songs from these type of bands.

My top 6 Radiohead songs (biased as a singer):
Optimistic
Just
High and Dry
I Might Be Wrong
2+2=5
Electioneering
Honourable Mentions (great vocal tracks, don't see them taking them because there is non-existant guitar/drums)
Dollars & Cents
Pyramid Song (hell, how about all of Amnesiac?)
I would love to see some In_Rainbows stuff too, but I think it will be nearly impossible to license. Weird Fishes/Arpeggi, Bodysnatchers, and Reckoner have to be my favourite tracks from the album.

i think I Might Be Wrong would be good for RB too, its just that there are so many other songs that would be better imo. that song just doesn't quite have the energy i would want from a Radiohead song in RB.
however, i think i mentioned this in the OK Computer thread, but if they wanted to release a Kid A/Amnesiac 3-pack with Optimistic, I Might Be Wrong, and Knives Out, i would be :D

I've already been asking for Muse, just because I can't stop listening to them. I can't wait until Hysteria finally is up for DLC. I always knew that it was the Muse version that was on the unleashed secret list, because seriously (and I think a majority of you will agree with me on this) that version rocks more than the Def Leppard version. Now if we can get more Muse and more Radiohead for DLC, I'll be a happy camper.
I'll probably by The Cars album, but I'm not even touching Judas Priest.... I only enjoy a few of The Pixies songs (especially Where Is My Mind), but I don't care too much for the album that HMX is releasing (eventually) and nothing really strikes me as being good from what I've heard off the YouTube videos. Just because Thom likes 'em and idols 'em, doesn't mean it's necessarily my cup of tea. *lol*
