I know a thread like this has probably been posted before, and maybe its already happening and I dont know but can hmx please make a rock band expansion disc for ps2 so we can get some or most of the DLC. After playing 58 songs for over 4 months now im getting bored of the same stuff :P. Yeah I could go out and spend a ton of money on a Xbox 360 or PS3 but id rather not spend more money then I need to on a system for 1 game. I know others would agree with me :)

I'm sure Harmonix would love to send some DLC the PS2 way (more business), but here's why that can't be done:

The PS2 doesn't have a hard drive. You have to buy it separately. Not enough people are willing to plunk down $50 on a hard drive for an aging game console, so there isn't perceived to be a large enough customer pool. Furthermore, I don't think the PS2 has a network for buying game content and add-ons like Xbox Live Marketplace and the similar thing for Sony's PS3.

Upgrade to a PS3 or 360. You will not regret it.

Unfortunately, I have to agree. The PS2 was an excellent console and still is, but as time passes you're going to find more instances in which it cannot manage the pace of this new generation.

Well, that or the gaming industry will never evolve. Three guesses as to which one people are rooting for.

and eventually he will have no choice....it was a fantastic system but it is aging fast.

In the end releasing rockband for the PS2 was a gift in and of itself. Also who actually was the dev team for the PS2. I know they were different then current gen so I would probably be asking them the questions.

I don't think an expansion is completely out of the question, it would be a fairly trivial job to throw all the DLC on a disc. I don't know if there are plans to do this, but it seems like a good business move on their end.

I would wait it out if you have a modded PS2. It will most likely be hacked soon enough, then you can play custom songs, which can be even better than DLC.

It wouldn't be so trivial to release the DLC on a disc for the PS2. The songs were contracted to be released for digital distribution. If they wanted to put them on a disc they'd have to make up a new contract with all the bands or record labels or whatever. Just too much work to go through for the PS2.

Yeah that makes sense. Kind of odd they made it that specific, but I suppose thats the way the music industry likes to operate.

Obviously the choice in this case is the PS3, so he can use his same instruments and just pick up a new copy of the game itself.
