The podcast was pretty cool. Way more informative than I expected.

As I said in the other topic, I think the 98% remark is possibly being taken out of context...
Asked about if they're still working on Guitar Hero, Alex responds, "Well, at this point we've either entirely or mostly wrapped up our development work on Guitar Hero, and at this point we're pretty much 98% on Rock Band."
Personally, I take this to mean that 98% of their company's focus is going into Rock Band right now (the other 2% presumably in wrapping up their Guitar Hero contract), not that the game's completion is 98%. But I guess it could be interpreted both ways.

Ahh ****. It's what I feared.
There will be no 360 bundle with wireless guitars. Now I have to buy a drums + mic bundle and the wireless guitar seperate.
Please make a bundle with 360 wireless guitar too!

Great set of info today... It's a good idea for them to give us hubs, there's no point in buying extra stuff. I can't wait...

I totally agree.. nowhere near that line was he talking about completion or progress of the game. He was talking about how much they will be working on GH2 still and how much they we will be working on it in the future. This 98% statement was just saying they are focusing 98% of the team on Rock Band.

HAHAH. Who was it who did that last time that I criticized for that?
Anyway, I'm happy to hear about the plot thing. That makes me happy.

Other good takeaways from the podcast:
1) Online will not be hosted on EA servers. Thank God. In addition to being an inferior online infrastructure, EA turns off games after two years, rendering them unplayable online.
2) Alex confirmed that equivalently priced bundles will have wired guitars for the XBox 360, and wireless guitars for the PS3. This is very odd, because Red Octane announced this week that their $100 bundles will have wireless guitars for both platforms. Why does Harmonix have to charge more for XBox wireless when Red Octane doesn't have to?
3) Harmonix is not just being coy about bundle/SKU announcements. Alex says they are still in active negotiations with the retailers about this, and no final decisions have been made. Evidentally, they have to work closely with retailers to get the right SKUs put together because retailers are going to have to use a lot of brick and mortar space to store the product.
4) Alex confirms that each instrument will have its own solo career track. The drum finale will be Won't Get Fooled Again. The guitar finale will be one of the ten unannounced songs. He did not say what the vocal finale would be.

Perhaps they're just charging more for the PS3 bundle to keep pricing the same instead?

Alex says that they did consider band vs band but decided against it since there's no real world equivelent to it.

I think that's a bad decision. It's a game... who cares if there is no "Real-world equivalent"?! I for one, would like to play in tournaments, me and my friends vs another band. That would be f****ing awesome....

Eh?? That doesn't make sense. There are tons of battle of the bands contests and events in the "real world". There are more battle of the band contests than guitar player contests, I think.
I will miss that in Rockband.

Please let there be a bass (mini) career...

The few things I'm really happy with coming away from this podcast are:
The possible use of songs as DLC that are not radio versions, independent ESRB ratings for songs
The hub packaged in bundles
Their constant negotiation with the price with retailers
I'm really excited to hear more about the Band World Tour Mode, it sounds like it is going to have tons of replay value, and be really fun and immersive to play.
Also excited to find out the hardest/final guitar song in the game
Finally I can't wait to see how this "huge" investment in the Rock Band Forums turns out
